You would think as someone from St Louis, whom grew up watching the hockey Blues and listening to blues, and while having heard this song before every home hockey game, I never new this song was called St Louis Blues lol. It’s funny when you discover the true meaning behind things that you take for granted.
The father of American music, playing his most famous composition. Of course, Louis Armstrong would make this classic his own with Handy's full blessing a few years later.
Sweet music by a great musician and I wonder how much it will take for the young people to sit back and enjoy their heroes in music, this man loves music and loves the poor folks that make it best!!!!
I agree. Was pleasantly surprised to see a bronze statue in his honor at a plaza in Memphis, when I was there for a Bob Dylan concert.. Like someone else said here, this performance should be preserved in a national archive.
In reading recently about Handy, I wondered if any film footage existed & now I can see there is. This truly is a priceless artifact!
Wow! A giant of American blues music, performing his own signature composition.
So glad to see this piece of AMERICAN HISTORY IN THE FLESH. Thank you you tube.
