Παραλίες Κουρεμένος - Χιώνα, Crete in 4K

Ο Κουρεμένος βρίσκεται 91 χλμ ανατολικά του Αγίου Νικολάου και 21 χλμ ανατολικά της Σητείας, 1 χλμ ανατολικά του Παλαίκαστρου. Είναι η μεγαλύτερη παραλία της περιοχής με μήκος που ξεπερνάει το 1,5 χλμ και οριοθετείται στα βόρεια από το Ακρωτήριο Τέντα, όπου υπάρχει λιμανάκι, και στα νότια από το λόφο Καστρί, πάνω στο οποίο υπάρχουν ερείπια του φρουρίου Παλαιόκαστρο. Η παραλία έχει ψιλή καφετιά άμμο, ρηχά νερά και πολλά αλμυρίκια, ενώ είναι αρκετά οργανωμένη με ομπρέλες, ντουζιέρες και καντίνες. Χαρακτηριστικό του Κουρεμένου είναι ο πολύ συχνός και ισχυρός άνεμος. Πράγματι, ο αέρας εδώ είναι σταθερά τόσο ισχυρός, που το μέρος έχει γίνει πασίγνωστο στους λάτρεις της ιστιοσανίδας και του kite surfing διεθνώς, ενώ δεν είναι τυχαίο ότι τα Σητειακά Όρη έχουν πολλά πάρκα με ανεμογεννήτριες, αξιοποιώντας το τεράστιο αιολικό τους δυναμικό.
Η Χιόνα (ή Χιώνα), γνωστή κι ως Λενικά, βρίσκεται στην άλλη πλευρά του λόφου Καστρί, πολύ κοντά στην παραλία Κουρεμένου.Στη Χιόνα το χειμώνα σχηματίζεται σημαντικός υγρότοπος με υφάλμυρο νερό, που προέρχεται τόσο από τον υδροφόρο ορίζοντα όσο και το θαλασσινό νερό που φέρνουν τα κύματα. Μπροστά από την αλυκή αυτή, που δυστυχώς το καλοκαίρι χρησιμοποιείται ως χώρος στάθμευσης, ξεδιπλώνεται μια όμορφη παραλία με ψιλή άμμο και ήρεμα ρηχά νερά, ιδανική για οικογένειες με μικρά παιδιά. Εδώ μπορείτε να χαλαρώσετε κάτω από τα αλμυρίκια της παραλίας, ειδικά αν συνδυάσετε το κολύμπι σας με το φαγητό στις πασίγνωστες για τα θαλασσινά τους ψαροταβέρνες της Χιόνας. Η παραλία είναι καλά οργανωμένη, αλλά με πολύ περιορισμένες επιλογές για διαμονή, λόγω του σημαντικού αρχαιολογικού χώρου του Ρουσσόλακου που βρίσκεται ακριβώς δίπλα.Τις περισσότερες επιλογές για διαμονή θα τις βρείτε στο γραφικό Παλαίκαστρο και στον Αγκαθιά, αλλά και στον Κουρεμένο.

Kouremenos is located 91km east of Agios Nikolaos and 21km east of Sitia, just 1km east of the small town Palekastro. In Palekastro there are more choices for accommodation, food and entertainment, but you will also find several new hotels near the beach. The beach is the longest in the area with a length exceeding 1.5km, bounded on the north by the Cape Tenta and on the south by the Cape Plaka. It has fine brown sand, shallow turquoise waters and several tamarisk trees around. It slightly organized in some areas with umbrellas, showers and beach bars. The beach is beautiful but the main feature of Kouremenos is elsewhere: the wind. Indeed, the wind here is so strong that the area is popular to windsurfers and kite surfers across Europe. Indeed it is no coincidence that the area hosts some of the largest wind turbine park in Greece, exploiting the huge wind potential
Chiona is located 91 km east of Agios Nikolaos and 22km east of Sitia, 2km east of the small town Palekastro. It is a nice sandy beach with whitish sand and shallow blue water. The beach is not too long, but is renowned for its beauty and serenity.Here you can have a perfect day, especially if you combine your visit in Chiona with eating at the famous local fish taverns. The beach is slightly organised (near the taverns) but there are some tamarisk trees along the coast, offering shade. East of the main beach, there are several small coves, where you can find a quiet place to swim alone and nude. The first sandy beach is called Bondalaki and is an amazing beach. maybe the best in the entire area

Thanks! I have just been (end of June) to Palekastron and we visited different beaches, closest to this one was Chiona!
But the one directly next to Chiona to the south was really good!
