THANK YOU FOR INSPO PHOTOS OF ALL DIFFERENT KINDS OF BODIES!! It’s such a simple thing and you’d think in this day that would be more typical but I have struggled SO MUCH with searching for style inspo photos that aren’t 100% young, very thin, and majority white women, particularly on pinterest. I see plenty of clothes that look fabulous on those women but they don’t look like that on me….and I’m just a white middle-aged woman! That’s probably partly an ad/search targeting thing but still….I search with other terms and somehow within 2 pages or so it’s back to the exact same thing. As a new subscriber to your channel, I have been binge catching up on your videos. It is so cool to watch you transforming yourself as you carefully, thoughtfully put much consideration into fashion and makeup styles. I am a confessed shopaholic and am just now, at 60, ready to bite the bullet and find my way to a more frugal element to my life, without having to completely sacrifice fun and style. I am a maximalist...however, you are showing me the cool side of minimal, while teaching me that I don't always need to be buying the latest trends. I can accomplish "cool" by shopping my closet and pairing styles in a new fresh way without blowing $$ all the time. That all being said, thank you Hannah, for being you and not being afraid to put your uniqueness on line! ❤
Because of your videos, I finally have clothing confidence and feel like I have a "direction" when I'm shopping. I went thrifting this past weekend and was lucky enough to find one of those elusive silk shirts -- all because I knew what I was looking for, thanks to you. And it is now definitely one of my favorites; probably my most unique item! Your examples are tangible, and your suggestions are realistic. I'm a grateful subscriber!
My feeling about white clothing is that it’s always a temporary relationship. I almost exclusively get it second hand and just love it to death until our time together comes to an end-or it ends up in my painting wardrobe with embroidered flowers adding more chaos to the stains.
This video made me so happy!! Yes to dressing down more formal clothing with everyday schlumpy clothes! When i was about 20… (in 1989 ish) I bought a FABULOUS pair of navy blue silk chiffon palazzo pants with tiny gold sequins sitting them here and there like the night sky. They were 100% impractical and made no sense for my life. But i loved them. So i wore them with an oversized men’s Hanes T-Shirt and a pair of Keds and riffle socks and it became my very favorite all purpose outfit. ❤ You will rock all of the fabulousness that inspires you!!
You could sew a slip skirt that isn't overly clingy. Grasser has a free skirt pattern (no. 669) that is cut on the bias but not fitted on the hips/thighs. It's a pretty quick and easy sew. And looks excellent under a chunky knit. I made one last week and wore it with a thrifted hand-knitted men's cable knit sweater, and felt very HLP until I half-tucked it to feel more like myself 😄
To think that I’ve never considered wearing a sweater/sweatshirt over a dress or skirt is wild to me. It didn’t occur to me to try to experiment with this sort of layering until I paid closer attention to your OOTD on Instagram. That’s all I’ve been wearing for the last month
95% of my wardrobe is thrifted. As a petite, (5'2 120lbs) fit and following the 1/3-2/3 rule has upped my style game. I keep a Pinterest fashion board as well for inspo. When I go thrifting, I keep "outfits" in mind. My style is soft natural mixed with classic and wee bit of romantic. I love tonal outfits and layering. I'm not a "capsule" wardrobe enthusiast, though one would see a running color story throughout my closet. As a soft Autumn, I've found a color palette that works well for me. A great exercise in creativity is pulling out items and combining them in new ways. At 56, street style isn't my thing, but I would wear a white sneaker with a dress. Happy Thrifting!
Thank you for including a variety of images that include a wide variety models. It makes it much easier to imagine some of these pieces in my own closet.
The internal conversations about fashion I am now having with myself are because of you branching out. I’m so happy to your trying something new. You obviously love it and so do I!
Hannah Louis Poston!!!! Both of us are into the same vibes!! ✨️ I call it " comfy romantic. " 😂 Which is basically wearing a fancy garment layered with comfy one for whatever occasion , mood or season ! Basically, I like this way of dressing because we got to wear EVERYTHING in our wardrobe on a regular basis, LITERALLY!!! I'm still searching & saving for my nice pieces & I'm still building my wardrobe since I zeroed it in 2019 ! I started with dressy garments and then the basics & then the accessories & now I I want the comfy & the fancy ! I'm fully into the capsule wardrobe method, but not the smaller one 😂 I love options because more is more in this case , especially when you layer the statement pieces in an unexpected way !! Or wearing 2 dresses at once !
Your fashion sense is so much more interesting than some youtubers'. I'd love to see a video of you trying on some of these outfits you're talking about, whether from your closet or a thrift store.
Hey Hannah! As someone who used to sew clothing for a living, have you ever considered sewing your own garments? There is such a thriving scene of amazing indie pattern makers online these days, and a lot of the garments you describe seem like they would be such simple and satisfying makes.
I love wearing a nightdress as a dress with a cropped tshirt over it. Material is very important of course, I love viscose or linen. Thank you Hannah, this was, as always, so very inspiring ❣️
Last summer, HLP's outfits inspired me to try oversized both on top AND on bottom, which as a short person I always avoided. I love it now! Especially with neutral colors and natural fibers, it feels like a comfy power move.
Super inspiring. Part of my newly formulated no-buy is thrift only. Thrift but with limits, maybe. Such as, once monthly. Still working on guidelines. Edit: Also, you’re my new favorite UA-camr. And I wasn’t considering no-buy before I recently found you. So quite inspiring, indeed.
This is so helpful! I have so many things in my Pinterest (clothes & home decor) but had never really analyzed them before to see why I pinned them and how to make them a reality. (And I have no white or light-colored clothes - partly aesthetics, but mostly I can’t keep them clean.) :)
I bought two white pieces about seven years ago for my college graduation. Since then, not being affluent, I couldn’t let two perfectly comfortable garments languish unworn. So I wore them. And wore them. They are surprisingly in very good condition now. I’ve dropped blue berry juice on the shirt. Slipped in the mud with the pants. More than once too. My secret is Shout stain treatment. I spray it on and let it sit while I wash another load; about a half hour. Then I drop it in a regular cold water wash. I never, ever dry the garment until the stain has disappeared. And I follow up this stain treatment & wash with a final wash that has white vinegar. This seems to prevent the crisp white color from fading and becoming dingy. The garments will eventually show wear, and they will become dirty job clothing until they become too thread bare. I had no idea this would work until I was forced to wear my good clothing frequently. I was quite astonished! I certainly don’t purposely wear them when I know full well that they will get dirty; holding my jelly eating grand babies, but if I forget, oh well. That’s what the Shout is for. I bought some cheap Hanes tees about three years ago, figuring this stain treatment would work here too. Nope. Turns out the garment cannot be of fast fashion quality. It needs to be hardy. My graduation garments are still going strong, while my tees, are already serving me for dirty jobs. And my other point to note, some water isn’t very suitable to working well with spot treatment. Something to do with mineral content, chlorine content, softness, hardness? Not sure why, so it’s great advice to try this with a thrift find! And I advise experimenting with different brands of stain treatments. I thought perhaps my experience might encourage other lovers of white to be a bit daring!
That image of Helen Mirren wearing green converse is one of my favorites. Also, went to the theater last weekend and wore a fitted cardigan buttoned up over one of my summer maxi dresses and black boots and socks. It was not anything I would've considered previously. It was comfortable, and I felt and looked great!
I love this approach and I’ve never heard of thrifting being intentional or a way to try trends. It’s usually a treasure hunt experience of collecting things that you try to fit into your wardrobe, often ending up back at the thrift store.
You could pull off anything you wanted to wear simply because you would show so much enjoyment in wearing it. Thank you for taking us through your thought process on finding style. This has been super helpful for me right now, I had my first baby back in January and now I can't just wear my pre-pregnancy stuff because I am nursing. But most maternity nursing clothes are not flattering and overly expensive for what they are. So I am having to get more creative in my clothes choices like button downs or wrap tops etc...which are not things I would have typically worn so I'm struggling with how to style them in a way that flatters me and agrees with my personality. It's more difficult than I anticipated. Your video is perfect timing. Keep doing what you do, we enjoy your work in this world 😊
I've been feeling so lost fashion wise, I moved from the north east to a high altitude desert in the southwest and I didn't know what to do with myself, I'm intensely a sweater girl at heart and I hated what became my daily wardrobe there. I'm back east again and getting to fall in love with clothes again and redevelop my wardrobe with a more discerning eye. I love the consistency of the fashion uploads, they're soothing to my ADHD brain as I get overstimulated in my closet. Also I want to mention I appreciate that you're willing to share your Pinterest saves, it's such a personal thing, a lot like a diary. Thank you for being open and exploring this genre, I look forward to your next one!
legitimately did the first two just yesterday bc the weather was so weird + I was having an active day! Wanted to feel the flow of a sundress bc it was warm, but the coziness of a sweater bc it was chilly in the shade, + the overall comfort and support of athletic shoes + socks. It was mainly an all black outfit, but the sweater has a bold black+ white pattern for some drama! Also couldn't forget some sharp cat eye shades + a loosely-pinned updo for that "is she a model off duty?!" type of energy ;)
What I must say I really admire about your channel is the inclusively in the example photos. I'm a mid-size lady, and sometimes it's hard to style things, and something that looks good on very slim women looks nothing like that on me.
Hi Hanna, I had to pause on the white clothing being too delicate and comment. I am by no means hoping or encouraging you to spend because I absolutely agree with you that none of the current trends are worth splurging on the designer versions. Here's a tip from a mom of 5 boys. I have always chosen white fabrics and clothing for the simple reason that stains come out very easily from white fabrics. A true white fabric is one of the easiest to clean. I have had white sofas for years for that exact reason. It was only when I changed and got a darker fabric that I realized how difficult stains are to treat on darker fabrics. It all lies in the fact that there are so many products that will actually, brighten and lift stains from white. Yes, a true and tried trick for a stubborn stain on white clothing is a tiny bit of bleach on a q-tip will remove most stubborn stains. This of course is just my personal experience but I did want to share it with you. I am never afraid of vintage fabrics that are white and have some yellowing because there are AMAZING products out there that will take care of those. I'm just saying...with much love, A.
I would love to see a video about tips and tricks for executing wearable editorial looks. I find that a lot of these slouchy outfits only look good when your posed for a picture and can tend to look sloppy when you’re wearing it in daily living. What are your thoughts on translating editorial inspo from the runway or a posed image into a wearable look that you can pull off anywhere?
Sometimes I realize that my lust for a particular clothing item is actually simply a desire to see or touch. I ask myself if I can make a piece of art, upcycle some jewelry, or just acquire something in a particular color, especially when I can't let go of silhouettes or trends I won't really wear. Dishtowels, by the way, can be w great way to get a whole range of "vibes" without wasteful spending. Everyone (except newlyweds) always needs to refresh at least one dishtowel in their kitchen
I really like the angle you aproach sustainability in fashion, your ideas are equally practical & creative. It made me go through my pinterest styling board & figure it out. Thank you for the inspo🙏🙏
I just found @ Kathleen Illustrated on UA-cam and she is talking about these same style ideas and giving even more ideas about how to layer. This video totally builds on how approachable these styles can be without shopping as well as fun!
According to your Pinterest choices you like loose fitted clothes. Just go for it with the trainers & dresses/skirts 💪 Breaking the girly dress vibe with casual trainers gives it interest and edge, and it’s current. Test-wear your new outfit to your groceries store and see how you feel at ease with it. Have fun with it 🤗 Loving the diverse examples of photos selection, absolutely stunning! 😍thank you!
I really appreciate you your content on do many levels. I’m just coming out of a very conscious phase of wearing pretty much the exact same clothes for many years. A very black phase of just not wanting to deal. To prove to myself that it’s ok to do that. That said I am sooooo bored and was stumped as a 57 year old Mom of teenagers of how to attempt a “ style” again. I really enjoy your thought processes, mixture of body images and a no reliance on just more purchasing to choose outfits. I always HATED fashion because I thought it wasteful and too expensive. You put a thoughtful fun frugal twist on it all! Thank you!!
Glad to hear that you shop in charity shops too! I love the adventure of never knowing what I'll find each time, and keeping items in mind that I've Pinned. Currently hunting for a roll neck, cropped, over-sized cable sweater in white or cream...
I tried doing this after your last video with a similar theme and I really liked the results. I have been getting the "there's nothing in my closet" itch so this video must be the sign to get over to my dream closet board and see what I can come up with! Thank you for the wonderful, inspirational video 😊

I'm really enjoying all of your content, it helps keep me grounded (have bpd so it get hard to know who I'm sometimes) and to stay thoughtful about essteics. Thank you.
This was one of my favorite videos of yours. We are the same age and I too am loving all those looks. Even though in the past I've determined that oversized or overly flowy isn't the right silhouette for me personally. I also realized I thrifted a silk mini dress long ago and should play around with styling it for the day 2 day 🎉🎉
For the black and white, what if you shifted the placement so you create vertical lines instead of horizontal ones to maintain emphasis on length … for example, an open, white, long layer over a black jumpsuit (or the inverse). That would bring in the contrast without chopping.
i was so surprised when my day-to-day type of outfit was something you didn't feel "cool" enough for, (ankle socks with sneakers and a maxi skirt, sometimes with a sweater, mostly with cropped hoodies), especially when your style is what i look to and love but don't feel "cool" enough for! i really honestly recommend anyone do the maxi skirt with a hoodie or a sweater and your favorite sneakers and visible socks at least once- it's so comfortable but so fun, especially because you can make some really funky fits with colorful/graphic socks!

Almost 100k!!! So exciting!!!!
LOVE the comfy romantic ✨
@@luciev.7844 thank you ✨️
I just love your thoughtful, logical take on fashion. You really have a unique perspective that is so refreshing and reasonable!
I recently bought my dream pants from a thrift shop for literally $1. Thrifting is where it's at!! Thanks for the great content, Hannah ❤
Your fashion sense is so much more interesting than some youtubers'. I'd love to see a video of you trying on some of these outfits you're talking about, whether from your closet or a thrift store.
There are so many fun socks! Solids, stripes, textures.
I really think you might have the most inclusive and diverse folks as examples in your videos and I absolutely love that
juxtaposition in dressing is absolutely delightful!
And I wasn’t considering
no-buy before I recently found you. So quite inspiring, indeed.
Love the process of your evaluation, analysis, and application
Having a clothing exchange with friends is fun and a great way to expand wardrobe.
I love the inclusive images you always choose to use to illustrate your videos.
I really enjoy your videos about clothes :)
I'm having so much fun making them!
I really like how thoughtfully you look at your style. Very inspiring. And thank you for sharing your pinterest board.
Love this idea. New and fresh way to update your wardrobe
Mad props to Hannah for the diversity of bodies in the images
Loved the diverse photos that you shared! 😍😍😴
this is so surreal for me, i pause ethan to watch terri jos live regularly.
I love yourr hair!! That haircolor is just *chef's kiss*❤
Been living the fashion content! It’s so helpful!
This video was fantastic and got my creative juices flowing! 🙏🏽
Love the funky new models! And the fashion tips!
According to your Pinterest choices you like
loose fitted clothes.
Just go for it with the trainers & dresses/skirts 💪 Breaking the girly dress vibe with casual trainers gives it interest and edge, and it’s current. Test-wear your new outfit to your groceries store and see how you feel at ease with it. Have fun with it 🤗
Loving the diverse examples of photos selection, absolutely stunning! 😍thank you!
I’m obsessed with the fashion content! Also loved the guilty pleasures video. Would love to hear you speak about perfume, cause I’d love help!
I would like to see more fashion videos like these, you just gave me casual work clothes inspo.
Thx 😊
Please do a followup where you show us your styling/different outfits you achieved and your thoughts on them.
Sneakers with skirts and dresses are the best thing 😍
I loved the video you did trying on your clothes and putting together trends with your closet. I would love to see you do this with this video.❤😊
Thank you for another inspirational video! It would be great to see you trying things from your wardrobe to follow up on this
yesss a satin maxi skirt and cute band tee is my go to for spring! it’s all in the accessories
I enjoyed this video so much. Thanks for the work you put into it! It’s inspiring me to take a look at my Pinterest boards and take notes.
Thank you, for sharing your future aspirations with us. I found it insightful and somewhat inspiring x
Love how you're acknowledging the practical limitations around your aspirations. Do a follow-up video once you've thrifted/experimented please!
I would love to see a video like this but having you try to style your clothes and showing us the outfits you come up with from your closet as well!
I tried doing this after your last video with a similar theme and I really liked the results. I have been getting the "there's nothing in my closet" itch so this video must be the sign to get over to my dream closet board and see what I can come up with! Thank you for the wonderful, inspirational video 😊
Here 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 the 👏🏻 fashion 👏🏻 content 👏🏻
Cant wait for the thrift with me vlog 😍
I am a sauce risk!! I completely know how you feel. I also like the longer top black/white idea. I know I need ways to wear it but where I don’t look like Waitstaff.
The sneakers, socks, and skirt combo… i just can’t
Happy to be here within the hour! Another enjoyable video, Thanks Hannah!
I'm really enjoying all of your content, it helps keep me grounded (have bpd so it get hard to know who I'm sometimes) and to stay thoughtful about essteics. Thank you.
Dakujem- tuzim byt naozaj NAJEFEKTIVNEJSOU verziou SEBA sameho. DAKUJEM
Great inspo, HLP! I was watching and thinking of white outfits I can easily make without buying anything new. 🥂
This was one of my favorite videos of yours. We are the same age and I too am loving all those looks. Even though in the past I've determined that oversized or overly flowy isn't the right silhouette for me personally. I also realized I thrifted a silk mini dress long ago and should play around with styling it for the day 2 day 🎉🎉
Oh my! Thank you so much. Your video has inspired me to break out that purple maxi skirt!
I love your tipps and ideas❤❤ you are a big fashion inspiration
I’m really living for your fashion content, please keep it up/add more!
You’ve inspired me to finally pop on sneakers on Poshmark to use with midi skirt!
Side note: loving the necklace , it really suits you !
I love your fashion content! I really appreciate the way you approach style, thank you for sharing!
Omg I LOVE a sequenced skirt
