On "My Car Story" we're in Burr Ridge IL on 9-13-19 at the Corvette Mike Midwest
We're looking at a 1953 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Roadster in Polo White Paint (which is the only color the car came in). The engine is a factory straight 6 cylinder “Blue Flame” engine. This restored car looks brand new as if it just came off the showroom floor in 1953.
We’re talking with Bill Kotzum, of Corvette Mike Midwest. The company is located at 60 Shore Drive, Burr Ridge, IL 60527 who sells Corvettes.
If you’re interested in purchasing a Corvette, call Bill at the office # 1-630-230-0441. Or go to www.corvettemikemidwest.com
ENJOY!
SIMPLY AWESOME! The beginning! Love it!!
Hi Bob, High praise for this car :-) Lou
The simpleness of this car says so much on how far we have come with the Corvette of today.
Hi Tim Holder, Good point, Lou
The first Corvette ever. WOW!! Lou you sure have a good eye for rare Muscle and Classics!
Hi Thomas, Happy to share this rare treat with you :-) Lou
Speechless...
Just beautiful.
Hi Guillermo Garraton, Happy to read you're impressed with this car :-) Lou
Thanks Lou for this beautiful icon. I'm toying with the idea of sending this to my Brother. But think it may break his heart. At age 17 in 1965 get bought one of these for $1,500. He was drafted in 1968 and he desperately wanted to store the car. My Father talked him into selling it for a "profit" for $2,000. Not sure he ever completely forgave my Father 🤔
Hi X K, Happy to read you enjoy this one :-) Hoping your Brother forgives your Father because I'm sure your Father meant no harm, Lou
a service station operator in iowa or missouri had one of these initial debut corvettes bricked in to the back of his business. i think he drained the engine and radiator of coolant, took the wheels and leaned them against the wall, and placed four wooden milk crates under it. when he passed his family learned of it in his will, they still owned and operated the station. by the nineties, the low miles car was significantly more valuable than the price when new.
Hi Scott Brady, Thank you for viewing and sharing a cool story :-) Lou
the little sports car is like the only true constant since its inception from before WW2 to now the formula has never been messed with.
You're right fox 6 :-)
1953 CORVETTE BEAUTIFUL GORGEOUS MY FAVORITE SPORTS CAR OF ALL TIME ALL 🇺🇲☝️👍✌️WORTH A LOT OF 💸💸💸
Hi RAYMOND, Happy to read this car is a favorite of yours :-) Lou
Even though that Corvette couldn't outrun a three-legged dog, it's one of my all-time favorites!
Thanks Lou!
Hi Bob Bob, Happy to read this one is a favorite of yours :-) You're welcome Lou
What a beautiful piece of Americana! Gaps or no gaps, what forward thinking GM had at the time. I so much appreciate that the car was originally ’hand-made’, and appreciate that it still looks ‘hand-made’ after restoration. Thanks Lou and the owner for a piece of automotive history!
Hi Rusty, Happy to read you appreciate this American Icon :-) You're welcome, Lou
Very collectable Very cool Very nice example. Good Job Lou thx
Hi Bob Solo, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Huge WOW! Not to be driven on the street! Fantastic!
Hi Craig, Happy to share this rare treat with you :-) Lou
I saw one of these in Santa Cruz CA at age 16. Bought a ‘55 at age 19 for $600. Drove it every day in Seattle and up logging roads and ocean beaches. I still dream about it occasionally at 70. Thanks Lou.
It's fantastic, Lou! With Bill at Corvette Mike's, it's pretty much "Nuff said!", but this '53 is worth more than just one look.
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Happy to read you enjoy this episode. Glad to read this one is worthy of a few looks :-) Lou
She's a beauty, Lou!!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car Ed B. :-)
Super rare original, beautifully restored.
Hi Marten Trudeau
, Happy to read you appreciate this car and glad to read you enjoy the restoration :-) Lou
I really, really appreciate these classics that Lou brings to us each week however it amazes me how many OWNERS of CONVERTIBLES are unwilling TO PUT THE TOP DOWN for the show.
Hi zackery5411, Happy to read you're enjoying the selection of cars on the Channel :-) Sometimes they will, and sometimes they wont, however as long as they share the cars with us, that is the important part :-) Lou
Lou,
Thanks for the response. Agreed!
It's been so long since I had a chance to look closely at a '53 once more, and they are just beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Tom Gill Chevrolet, Happy to share this rare treat with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Looks like he has several eras of Corvettes...
Yes
Way to keep running the bases Lou. I love corvettes, any year, any color, whatever it takes. You are a lucky man to see all these nice cars.
Hi Turbo Lives In my heart

REAL NICE CAR AS USUAL REALLY ENJOYED YOUR VIDEO AND EXPLANATION
Hi Han, Happy to read you enjoy this episode :-) Lou
These were ahead of there time, the start of many beautiful corvettes to follow. I think it's pretty cool looking.. tks Lou...
Hi Mark J, Enjoy reading your comment :-) You're welcome, Lou
There's an older guy who lives in Milwaukie, Oregon who had one just like that one, same color and everything. While on vacation a few years ago it was stolen from his locked garage. Not only did he have two very large padlocks on the door, but he had heavy chains that held the car to the floor of his garage. The thieves cut through all those security measures and hauled the car away. He hasn't seen it since.
Those are extremely valuable cars.
Hi Chuck Ster, WOW! That's a crazy story. Sorry to read the end result :-( Lou

I ran across the guy at a local car show last summer. He now has a red '53 Corvette that he claims is the original paint. Red ones are extremely rare.
He had insurance on his old white one, but he said it didn't pay as much as he had in the car.
I found this on the internet. I guess his was a '54 model. Same car though as '53.

Gorgeous engine compartment though...
So well kept & clean :-)
Awesome Lou《☆》Sweet & rare Vette. Looked like the side draft carbs were running a bit rich but those 6 cylinder truck motors have some torque :*: Greetings from🍊Florida🦎my friend🤓🗣☮🤳👍🏾
Hi BDOG JR, Happy to share this rare treat with you :-) Lou
Another great video Lou love watching your channel. I myself have never seen a 53 Corvette in person before. If you ever get a chance you should go down to Biloxi Mississippi for Cruising the Coast in October of every year. There was over 7,000 cars there last year.
Hi PlymouthDuster 225, Happy to share this rare treat with you :-) Sounds like a great show. If the Promotors of that show would like to contact me, I'm interested in seeing if they would like to have me there, Lou
I really love the ‘53 vette’s!! The very first year it was made!! I like the newer ones from early 2000’s to late 2008!! But, I really do admire the 1953 version because my grandparents were in middle school that year and it’s just a very interesting, unique year for me history wise.

Around '53 GM was very active creating futuristic cars such as the Corvette as well as the Buick Skylark. Pontiac too.

One of my uncles destroyed one jumping railroad tracks back when his brother worked for Paul Newman in Westport ct, waaaay back in the day.
Hi Chris, That's a story you won't forget! Lou
Another awesome find Lou.
Been waiting for one of the 1st year Corvettes, so enjoy sharing this one with you abe frohman :-)
I _really_ like the rear end design and treatment!
Nice unique design :-)
The Chevrolet Corvette sure had a very humble beginning in 1953. Chevrolet only had their inline 6 cylinder engine at that time which in most Chevrolet cars was only about 100 horsepower. Chevrolet managed to boost this engine up to 150 horsepower by increasing compression, solid lifters, three carburetors, and dual exhaust. This engine had too much power and torque for the Chevrolet 3 speed manual transmission at the time so Chevrolet used their two speed Powerglide transmission in this car. In the present day just about any 4 door sedan could outperform this car. However because this car was the beginning for Chevrolet Corvette and is very rare, this car has a special high collector value and is worth a lot of money. These original Chevrolet Corvettes are a unique example of automotive history.

They only came in Polo white, and all had red interiors. The first ever American sports car ever made wow. If we didn’t have Corvettes, we might not have had Thunderbirds.
Hi Andy Atom Cat, Thank you for viewing, sharing your knowledge,, and incite too, Lou
Nice
:-)
I love the 53 vettes. Georgous
Hi Stevie Jo, Happy to read this is one you "love" :-) Lou
Thanks, great overview of Historic Production and **1953 Car,, interestingly, I drive a **1953 CHEVROLET SIX CYLINDER AUTOMATIC * Unfortunately a four door in Brown Color and no Options for a few month( rolling car over :on Icy Road with NO injury), before getting my various FORD cars , THRU HI SCHOOL,,AND College.......admittedly,this **1953 Corvette has a lot,of personality and chutzpah , besides rarity,.....Actually, our 1953 Chevrolet 4DOOR was economical and covered miles easily, etc. .....

A truly beautiful automobile! I kind of expected that it would have a manual transmission option. How is the pickup? How fast? Thanks, Lou for this and all of your videos!
Hi Joe Postove, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car. Not much pickup, and not very fast, however pleasurable ride :-) You're welcome, and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Pretty car Lou 👍
Glad to read you enjoy the looks of this car lyonheart84 UK exotic fruit growing :-)

Hi larry, Been waiting to find one so glad I'm able to share this rare treat with you :-) Lou
@@loucostabile would be real nice if you let you take that sweet car for a ride
@@larryborkstrom3580 That would be VERY nice, however did not happen this time :-)
I had a ‘55 Corvette with a 265 V8 and 4 speed transmission. Had it up to 120 mph with a stock 327 in it later on. My brother said he took it up to 140 mph. Not sure I believe him though.
@@philclark6418 I wish I had one
WOW 😀
Hi Michael Coffey, Happy to receive a "WOW" from you :-) Lou
@@loucostabile 😀

Happy to read you enjoy this rare "sweet" treat :-)
She still has a bit of a bark even thought it's only a straight 6....
Which is nice :-)
To think almost the Corvette didn't take off in '53 and look how far we've come to 2019. (count me in for, not being a fan of the C8s)
Hi Pat, You're right, an amazing run for the Brand. Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
There's a lot of spaghetti under the dash.
A lot of "Live Wires" :-)
Beautiful car but a shave the Small Block V8 Chevy engine wouldn't be available till 55....
Shame..typo..
The V8 engine is a great addition to the experience of driving the car :-)
Terrific car but I'd need a crane to get me out!
Hi Brock White, There is a little maneuvering to get in and out of this car :-) Lou
How much?
See the text of this video. There will be a website to get the number to call.
2 Spd.Auto + No Solid Lifters + No 4 Barr.= Couldn't Get A Speeding Ticket if U Tried,Sports Car.Ur Kinda Sports Car ,If U Just Want the Looks. 3x 2 Barr's.or 1 Barr's.?
Hi Ed Cain, I think your description is right on :-) Lou
Watching a spectacular car without seeing the owner seems like something is missing somewhere,. No luck this time.
Hi boson, I like the Care Taker sharing who's the owner, too however, when a car is this rare, I feel it's worthy of sharing with you, Lou
No doubt he is a nice guy.
