It would be hard to argue about Efren being the best there ever was, he makes impossible shots look easy. I don't care if you like pool or not, watching Mr. Reyes is something anyone can appreciate even if they don't know how impossible some of those shots are.
@@FrosWorthyEveryone gets old. How is that too bad? He was in his 40s in the 90s and is only 63 lol. Was still thrashing people till he retired, can't stay young forever.
4:35 Jesus, that is actually magic at work. To think right off the bat that this plan will work is already outstanding in of itself but to execute it this beautifully is just art.
Es un genio porque juega de la misma forma en su tierra natal con su gente que en el extranjero en los torneos más prestigiosos, talento natural y mucha humildad, un gran maestro, viva Efren Reyes
4:37 lol, that shot really made his opponent think like "no fcken sh*t, 'hate this guy". 😂 What i like the most with Efren's game is he makes jaw dropping plot twist moves, you'd think you know what he's going to do, but it's just unexpected.
Efren studied and mastered fluke shots he saw from novice players. He then apply it during tournaments, which to us are his magical shots. But whenever he was asked how he did it. He will just answer he got lucky. 😊
That's actually true. I am Filipino and there was a local documentary on Efren and his story becoming the player that he is. We all know that he learned pool at a young age at his uncle's pool hall. But he mentioned that he learned shots from other people's mistake and flukes and studying them and trying to replicate it and improve it.
It is amazing how he knows when to use masse or cushion whenever there is a ball blocking. He also knows with a limited time to think when to play safe or try to sink an impossible shot.
The L shot of Efren that took place in China mesmerized me. Who would have ever thought that that shot is possible. Only Efren sees it. He is truly a genius in the sport.
I've only just started watching pool matches here on UA-cam after not really watching many tournaments since the early 1990's on cable. The game has really changed a lot - if I remember correctly, there were few Asians in the tournaments back then, and now I look on UA-cam and there are lot of them and they are kicking butt. I had never heard of Efren before about a week ago, and he's amazing. Same can be said of the many Asian ladies doing quite well in their tournaments - also quite a few very good-looking Asian lady pool players, I might add. Happy to see the sport grow into many more countries. Makes me want to find time to get back on the table too. Like Efren, I prefer to masse rather than jump the cue ball, and while I have made shots using masse, I can't do it quite as consistently as Efren. :-)
If by "the game has really changed a lot" you mean being able to see more hot female Asian pool players, then you have the shallowest of all reasons for watching pool matches. Drink your milk and stick to mini golf.
Efren reyes has an incredible mindset he is a truly genius and very good mindset tricks to be one if yhe best pool player bravo to him hands off EFREN REYES MABUHAY KABAYAN 🎉❤
Efren is a complete athlete.. His defense is as great as his offense.. He's a game changer, he introduce kickshots/safe to the game.. If you read his biography, this man is a god of pool in disguise..
But when we got to see the mature version of Efren on the world's stage, he has mastered most of his repertoire where he can call on it when necessary and make the shots. It's amazing what he can do with the cue stick.
4:58 - "He may be able to hit the edge, but he can't make it for sure." Seconds later, in disbelief: "He made the ball." I bet this happened a lot throughout Efren's career.
At 5:00 "He may be able to hit the edge but he can't make it for sure". So you were saying? Lol. That's why I love Efren because he's making the commentators swallow their words and making them guess what he's gonna do. And making them sound stupid too. Lol
Efren luôn có những đường bi mạo hiểm trong các ván đấu. Ngoài tài năng ra, ông còn là người rất vui tính và hóm hĩnh, tạo nên nét khác biệt trong các giải đấu. Huyền thoại thực sự.
Many of these are 'swerve' shots vs masse (but for a YT title, I get it). @5:14 candidate best due to the 3's distance from the pocket. @8:47 masterfully elegant. Deflecting around the 6 by a mm + swerving just past the 8. A++ @10:18 ... signature efren. No one hits those better. NO ONE. Not even Morro. @11:43 ... haven't we all inadvertently hit the point from deflecting too much there? This is just such a clinic ... partly testament to what makes Efren so effective, as there is ALWAYS some swerve on any shot involving spin. The further away, the slower the speed, and the higher the humidity ... the larger it'll be. And Efren being from the Philippines, Efren became ensconced in its influence early. And while many, many Filipinos began play at young ages ... Efren's talent and intelligence allowed him to accel in a way that no one else ever has.

There are things in life that you can't explain and Efren Reyes' magical virtuosity is one!
I always thought and so sure it's black magic 🙃but again it's just pure magical virtuosity.,,🤙👍👍🤙
...they cannot beat Efren using ordinary cue stick, so they invented that "jumping cue stick"😂😂😂
The era when all pool players are in a learning process until Bata reyes came and show some unique style and talents!

How the hell Efren does all that complex mathematical calculations in head within that time and executes it? GOAT !!!
A magician never reveals his secrets
GOAT indeed but i don't think he does calculations in his head it's simply the result of hours of practice and some talent
