Growing up in America, and visiting Pakistan 25 times for Vacations (we love Watan). Since childhood ( my parents love Watan so they took us back home every summer).I had the opportunity to live in Karachi for 9 months strait ( in 3 months your body adjusts to the FOOD, water and Air) & one major difference I have noticed in Pakistan vs the USA is that Pak is a class-based society, upper class, lower class, but in the USA, UK everyone has money, everyone eats the same FOOD. And for British and American Pakistanis, Pakistan is very inexpensive., We spend more in 2 days here on Food, car, Gas, than ppl make in Pakistan in a month (Avg income in USA is $300 a day).....Farhan from USA

"You start learning as you live here" that is what it's like living in Pakistan as an expat 💯. People who come to the UK also learn the customs and way of life and adjust accordingly so the same applies for anyone migrating to PK.
No matter how much research you do...til you don't live in a country and experience daily life you won't know what's what.

My advise to you brother and sister forget speaking Urdu, learn Punjabi and limit speaking in English with each other and speak Punjabi you will find it much much easier to assimilate with the locals if you can speak Punjabi and they will accept you much quicker and you will not find the nonsense antics they was doing when you pair moved to Pakistan. Isolating yourselves is not a good idea on so many levels, you clearly moved to Pakistan as you found it hard to adapt to England once you started to follow the Deen seriously, but you making the same mistake now that you have moved to Pakistan by not learning Punjabi or Urdu and isolating yourselves from the Locals. To make it in Pakistan its not "what you know, but who you know"..make more of a effort with the locals so they start to accept you as one of them, and once they do that your life will become far more easier on many levels in Pakistan. As you know many will try to take advantage but that is the price to pay to find the "real ones".

As a expat living in Islamabad Urdu is best due to the fact it’s the national language of Pakistan where as Punjabi has soo many dialects and not every body can understand or speak regional Punjabi and for integration with locals it’s not necessary as long as you have some understanding and can relay your message it’s not a problem as long as you are happy within yourself I think less interaction with locals is better

Interesting. I thought Urdu was the official language of Pakistan. And Punjabi was the official language of Sikh people. That’s what I learnt in school anyways

It's funny how you mentioned the Urdu thing as that's something I definitely need to work on! Hoping to sharpen it up before fully commiting.

As someone mentioned earlier, coming for a holiday is very different from living here and experiencing daily life. I have been here for a few years and soon to go back. I definitely think its an experience and being out of your norm but a humbling experience. Our life is totally different to brother farhan in terms of living etc
We live in Islamabad and its very modern as is our home. But regardless, the experiences and challenges we face are all the same.

No need to undermine Farhan’s and Myrah’s effort. Rather then having a cheap laugh why don’t you see the greatness they achieved? And see if you can do half of what they done. Young British couple sacrificing “ Jannah” ( sorry meant uk ) to go live in a country thats totally different culture and the complexity of life and style and mentality yet they challenged themselves, and despite so many obstacles, uncertainty, restrictions they persevered, grew stronger, showed many British Pakistani people a way of life they didn’t think existed. Don’t judge or hinder people from achieving their goals, only they know and Allah knows how many sleepless and tearful night they went through to challenge themselves so that perhaps they find peace and happiness and security at the end. I’m not Pakistani but I admire this brother and his wife’s courage. Yes we as viewers can give a opinion but Allah is the best of those who give guidance and should turn to Him in every need with a 2 rakat nafl and ask ya Rabb is this good for me? Is that person good for me? Ya Rabb don’t burden us more than we can bare guide us to what is better for us. Anyways if you love Pakistan then plz buy Farhan a pakora! 🎉

To think Pakistan is the solution for hijrah is delusional. I live in both countries and enjoy both. UK is good for £££ education and law and order.
Pakistan is good for holidays and make PKRs. It's a difficult place to live permanently so let's get off this hijrah facade. I think in UK you exaggerated the problems and in Pakistan you have rose tinted the country's problems . Be normal and not plastic pious
