Gorgeous peony. Have you ever used drawing inks to colour your crepe? I have some and have only tried a couple of times on scraps but found the colours split a little whilst drying. I guess using paint would be better 🤷♀️.
Thanks Pemmie! I have used inks, and they do work well to color. Depending on the type of ink though, the color might not be lightfast. That's one reason I love watercolor, it's less likely to fade. I do get the paper splitting some times, but it's still usable and can be fixed with a dot of glue. Or, try building up the color in layers, allowing to dry in between coats. The paper doesn't get as wet and less likely to split apart :)
@@IngaIlzePeterson I know this is an old comment, but is it possible to paint with watered down acrylic paint? I only want to make a few flowers and don't want to buy specific paints I won't use again (I can only do stick figures 😂 don't need special paint for that!)
@@katyb2793 Yes! you can use acrylic. I would make a few test pieces to experiment with how much water to thin. You want it thin enough so that it can seep into the texture of the crepe paper (otherwise there will be white lines when you shape your petals, showing where the paint didn't soak in) Also keep in mind that acrylic will leave a bit of a "sheen" or plastic feel when it dries, due to the fact that acrylic is a polymer based paint. It's not a bad result, just a different feel than the watercolor. Have fun with your projects!
