You got to hand it to the Democrats. Once fired military brass has been sold to re-loaders for many years. Lake City brass is considered among the finest brass casings in the world, & highly sought after for it's quality. Now, with the exception of blank ammo brass, rather than make the used brass available for the market, as it has been done for generations, it is turned into scrap metal. Before, it was collected into drums, & then the drums were put up for auction. Now, they have invested thousands upon thousands turning a simple process into a complex method of using high tech machinery to destroy a once valuable commodity. The money they receive for the destroyed brass is but a fraction of what the government would have gotten just selling the empty brass cases. Look how many employees are now involved & the equipment they are using. Democrats do not believe in the 2nd Amendment, & will use every trick they can come up with to interfere with the American people to be able to defend themselves, their families, their homes, & their communities. This is BS.
It's probably a closed circuit in one way.....raw brass is purified in the recycling process and some stock no doubt sold back into the industry to make more cases......
@@lawrencemartin1113 Lake City only uses virgin brass. It is difficult to keep the alloy consistent when using scrap material. The zinc tends to burn off when the temperature reaches a certain level, & then you are having to add additional zinc to the mix, & 100% consistency goes out the window. Hmmm. I wonder why indoor ranges don’t let you collect your brass. Yes it’s a safety issue but also because they can sweep in up in 5 min then sell it to a business that shorts separates and cleans it then sells it as once fired range brass. It works out great for all parties. The range and processor make money and the reloader saves money
I bought some once fired military brass. It's harder to reload because the military rifle chambers are loose compared to civilian hunting rifles, so you have to work harder to resize the brass. It's a crime to just crush it and sell it as scrap brass when they can make a lot more selling it as reloadable brass.
i dont know about a "loose chamber" but i do know that most military rounds have crimped primer pockets to keep the primers from coming out during rough handling and especially for belt fed weapons. that might be what you are feeling when you put the cases thru the de prime/sizing die.
steel link are probably sent back to smelt down to make new ones and ammo cans get resused/resold/destroyed damageed rounds discarded and sent back to manufactucer
Fascinating video.....totally ruined by that awful music!! Just leave the sound as recorded and tell the story visually. You don't need the insecent repetitive music cutting across it. Still, a really interesting film to see the different methods used to recover and sort brass and bullet heads for recycling. Our indoor range here in the UK, is de-leaded every few months. They actually have to dig and chisel out some of the impacted lead rounds that fuse together in the bullet catcher area. (Potentially hazardous work given the high levels of lead direct contact work)The lead is then re-cycled. All our brass is hand checked for live rounds and then also sold for scrap.
That's our gov. turning something that was selling 4 to 5 dollars a pound before BURR head to a $1.50 a pound . A company would have 10 to 15 people working reloading 5.56 ,9MM 7.62 . This way the Chinese are getting the brass at half price . Now it only takes 2 people the run the hammer mill and load the cargo camtainer to China
That is because in the 1990s they got rid of the 753XX redhats and turned the career field over to the Security Police (now Security Forces). A lot of gunsmithing knowledge was never passed on.
@livelurked4103 that makes it worse. It's full of MOS dropouts and rejects and wanna be operators. They love the SF identifier on their sleeve . That way they hope the chick's think they're sof.
They sold it back to the manufacturers, which then will reform that into new ammo and then either sell back to US military or sell to civilians.Every military does this
Smart trick. Almost as smart as my own strategy to get rich from deposits from the beer- cans I buy. Soon there. Better not tell Donald Trump and his followers about this, nobody knows what would come out of it.
It would be worth a lot more sold to reloaders instead of deformed as scrap. Idiot government policy.
Idiot democrat policy.
No such thing as bullet heads, those are bullets that they are sorting out with that Jurassic looking vacuum cleaner.

most indoor ranges wont let you shoot your own reloads either.
Why bother sorting it by caliber if you’re not gonna reload it?

the belt fed guns have higher pressure ammo and it is a pain to resize it.
It's a wonder they do not reload the spent casings !
They use to sell the brass in lots at Camp Pendleton Oceanside ca
Some Utubers use bullets crafted into pens melted coloured plastic body or such .
Great Idea 💡 👍 😊

I'm skeptical.
Especially when I've seen sailors literally just dump spent brass off the deck.
a lot of shit just falls into the ocean
Lots of opportunity for more information there. Whats done with the links? Ammo cans? Unfired or damaged rounds?
steel link are probably sent back to smelt down to make new ones and ammo cans get resused/resold/destroyed damageed rounds discarded and sent back to manufactucer
the links are most likely sent back to the ammo manufacturer to be used again.
Se las venden a algún cartel mexicano...
Just a suggestion from a Veteran pro musician. Make that brass into a tuba for me. And a whole band of brother band men with me.
GO GET THE BRASS MAGNET, PRIVATE!!!!
Boggles the mind! Between not reloading spent casings to not reusing the ammo cans that they came in. The Defense budget needs to be cut in half!
it shouldn't be mangled but given to taxpaying reloaders
God bless america❤
Good brass
大昔の話で東富士演習場内で薬莢らしきものを見掛け拾い上げようとしたら米軍使用の7.62mm機関銃用空砲が未使用状態でベルトリンク 弾帯で連結されたまま埋められリンクが錆びてたのを見た事が有る、これは絶対に撃った後の機関銃整備が面倒だから発砲せずに捨てたなと、当然火薬入りで危険だから埋め戻し(*_*;
Nice .
