What a wonderful look back at the epic ‘Neighbors’. I watched it from its beginning until the mid 90’s, and this brought back so many memories. I was a bit disappointed that a few of the cast weren’t there, but I will also never forget hearing that Kylie & Jason had broken up. What a spring board it turned out to be- launching so many careers. Thanks for sharing!
I think Harold was everyone's dream father or Grandfather. As a kiwi I've watched Neighbours since I can remember. I was born in 1978 so Kylie, Jason and Guy were the characters of my time. It really has launched many careers with just enough key actors and actresses to carry the show. I loved the memories of Neighbours past, present and those who have returned throughout the years. Xx
For me I started watching this from 1985 . Kylie and jason hadn't even begun there career's . It was amazing. Now look at them. I'm now 43 its the oldest austrailian soap going on tv, how dare the UK cancel it. They just can't . Someone else needs to support the programme like ITV to keep it going and hopefully soon we shall all ba celebration 40 years of production.
I remember #BackInTheDay , watching Neighbours as a youngster. Lovely to see this retrospective. I have to say that even now, Craig McLaghlin and Guy Pierce still have it ! ;)
This show was such fun. It broke my heart that I only managed to watch 10 episodes before varsity beckoned. Boys owned TV at res and watched soccer all day and every day.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I love any help you can give me!
@Drew Briggs Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Came to watch this after watching the final episode this evening. Kind of sad to hear the words at the end of this documentary after watching the finale. It feels like a big chunk of Aussie culture just died.
@@simonmiller5118 Yeah, true. 37 years is crazy considering a bunch of classic Aussie dramas like Prisoner, Sons and Daughters etc. that overlapped with Neighbours died in the 80s!
Not only have generations watched Neighbours but generations have acted in Neighbours and I can give you two examples one is of two generations of the same family who have acted in Neighbours and the other example is of three generations of the same family who have acted in Neighbours 2 generations Carla Bonner (Steph Scully) Harley Bonner (Josh Willis) 3 generations Terence Donovan (Doug Willis) Jason Donovan (Scott Robinson) Jemma Donovan (Harlow Robinson)
I would have loved to have seen these two guest stars on Neighbours in '86-'87: 1.) Sir Roger Moore as a recently retired spy playing a quasi-version of 007 who was an old flame of Helen Daniel's and 2.) comedian Rodney Dangerfield at the height of his fame playing an American tourist who gets lost and wanders onto Ramsay Street, runs into Clive Gibbons and Shane Ramsay at the waterhole and tells them they get no respect, and then when he finds out they are neighbours tells his famous neighborhood joke: "“Neighbours? I live in a tough neighborhood. How tough? Just last week, a guy pulled a knife on me. I could see it wasn’t a real professional job... there was butter on it.” He might also tell Scott Robinson re-taking his HSCs that he had to go Back to School recently too :-)
@Andy Salter yes and you could go on and on because you're wrong Which has more episodes and more seasons than any of the shows you mentioned.... Oh wait it doesn't matter because neighbours has more episodes and seasons than some of them combined so, I'm terribly sorry to break your streak of being correct, but I'm afraid you're wrong. Case closed
@Andy Salter ah.. No when I say case closed, it's fucking closed... Do you hear me.. I was done and you rabling on doesn't make it open and doesn't prove your point valid. I know it's a better show mate. Why would it have more seasons and episodes than the rest of the shows you mentioned, try 35 uninterrupted seasons and more than 8000 episides. Hopefully, for the last fucking time, you listen here mate, CASE CLOSED 🔐 It's done mate Don't try to prove otherwise cause I can go on forever with my case... This is your first and last warning
Guy LEFT too early. Too good for the show (he thought) he kissed his career good bye. JUST another gay PRETTY boy Ps..perms will NEVER die..nowadays ya JUST can't tell who's hair is natural curl..Or not..
What are you talking about? Guy Pearce has had a huge career since he appeared in neighbours. He isn't gay either. What would that matter anyway? Homophobic much!

Imagine if finale included a song/performance by Kylie/Holly/Delta? That would be iconic!

Yes, they hoped it would last another 30 years, but alas only another 7. Oh well, all good things must come to an end.
