They are both beautiful but I think the ebene is better for travelling purposes- the monogram can be quite eye catching for the wrong reasons when you're travelling making you more of a target for stealing. Obviously the damier ebene is still LV but perhaps not everyone associates it to LV whereas the monogram is more widely known (i hope this makes sense!). I enjoy travelling with my speed 30 in damier ebene :) Also the vachetta while travelling is always something to think about as it is prone to getting dirty and you always have to inspect it
I would suggest the DE. I have the same one but size 30. And I traveled all around the world with as a carry on. It's so carefree and I love that it's not shouting out LV monogram. Hope this helps.😊
My personal preference is Monogram as l don't like DE at all. Plus l love the idea of having two matching Speedy that you can potentially use for traveling. I don't mind the rain nor the pickpockets. But it's just me... Whatever you choose, it will be a great choice anyway ❤️ love from Italy
You hit the nail on the head when you said "30 would be too big for me everyday but too small for travel" this is exactly why I sold my 30, the days I needed to carry more stuff like for work or school, I was stuffing it to the brim and wishing it had a little more room and the days I just needed to run errands or go meet friends, it was far too large. I totally agree that I would have more usage out of a 25 for days I just need to run errands or meet friends and the 35 for travel but also small enough for an everyday work bag!
I would keep the DE and send the monogram back. I am very conscious of safety when I’m traveling, and I personally find the monogram as flashy and an invitation to people try to pickpocket me or separate me from my things. At least DE is a little more subtle, and definitely more durable since there’s no vachetta. You never know when you’ll run into a rain shower while traveling!
I’d keep the DE!! 💜 I have had both speedy Bs (but size 25) and yes the raw vachetta was much softer, but the speedy B strap I actually hate! The buckles are in a horrible spot and always dig into my collar bone, pull on my hair and rip it out, I hate it!! The DE is much more carefree and ages much better than the Mono! Plus you already have a mono speedy in your collection 😊
I’d go with the Damier Ebene. You intend to use the bag as a type of “luggage” and the Damier Ebene was Louis Vuitton’s original pattern for his luggage, so it’s kind of nostalgic. Plus the treated leather is low maintenance. And lastly, I completely agree with you that if you keep the new one, all the “wear & tear” will be from you and a culmination of all your travel adventures and memories. 👌🏽☺️☺️🙌🏽🙌🏽🧳
I also have gone back and forth between this bag- I would go DE on this one. I am a huge monogram fan,, but I really enjoy the DE in this bag. Sidenote- I do like the way this bag looks in monogram when it really starts to age- Its like it has a story to tell!! Crazy I know!!!!!!
I love the speedy 25 for daily use, But the larger 35 is definitely amazing for travel. I never thought to use it for travel. The zipper option now makes sense, I usually travel with Neverfull but it’s always so open and it’s a love hate relationship.
Wow! Tough choice! You found a really good preloved one. I have to say I’m personally leaning toward the monogram (I love honey patina) but either way you can’t go wrong.
Test them out packed and wear both with your travel outfits to see which one feels right. IMO, Damier=“I don’t need people to know I have money” vs Monogram=“look at what I can afford”.
If i were you, i will go for the Damier Ebene. Is something different from your collection. Also the Ebene version is not so out there especially for travelling. Don't sell the 25 Speedy Classic, hard to come by with such good condition. Both have different usage for different occasion if that make sense.
Keep both! They are all cute. The natural leather strap definitely feels more comfortable on the shoulder. The only problem I would think is monogram screams out loud if you travel in public transportation.
I love both bags for different reasons. Hard decision. I say if you got a good deal on the mono, keep both and enjoy them based on the locale and the weather. Then your little will have a cute monogram set some day! The mono is in great shape and I would prefer pre loved due to the vachetta for a travel bag. I think you prefer the new DE. I have a keepall B 50 and have considered downsizing to the speedy 40 for travel.
I vote DE like others mentioned it's more carefree for travel & you have the mono in 25. I have the speedy 30 DE but classic which I got 11 years ago, my first ever luxury bag. I haven't used it in recent years but definitely used it lots (with care) when I first got it because it was my first/ the only luxe bag I had for a while. The DE Still looks pretty much brand new even after all this time. Thanks so much for this video! You've inspired me to take my speedy 30 out of my closet to play around & see how much it would fit as a short trip bag. It fits a set of thin PJ'S, one outfit and some toiletry with some space. So I can only imagine the 35 with bandouliere would be 👌👌👌 for a short trip. As a side note for a more affordable option: I have the longchamp le pliage travel expandable bag that I use when we go visit our parents for the weekend. It's so great because there's a horizontal zip on the body of the bag that allows you to expand the bag bigger vertically if you need more space. It also has a long adjustable shoulder strap. Purchase was inspired by chase Amie she might have a video! My husband was always a little jealous Cuz he didn't have a good weekender bag, so we got him the khaki colour and he loves it as well!
DE all the way! Your tone of voice is a little more excited about the DE. it sounds like you’re so much more excited about it than the mono. The mono is beautiful, I think the stain would bother me though.
The vachette caramel color is gorgeous. However, the damier ébène is the one to go for since you want it to be carefree in all weather condition. Travelling, you want something is easy.

Have you ever considered using your 25 as an accessory to your 35 for traveling? For toiletries and extra things for travel. Possibly even some of your kids things?.. so you'd have 2 pieces of luggage, instead of maybe only thinking of the 25 has a bag that you don't get a lot of use out of? I think the 25 can be quite versatile 💗
Wow...what should I say...wow ...when I went to LV boutique and tried Eben one - it wasn't my cup of tea. So I bought monogram. And I thought monogram is perfect for everyone buuuuuut...I see that yours beauty is definitely Eben speedy, so good look and your style!♡
I would keep the DE for sure. You already have a monogram speedy so the DE is different. Also, using it for travel, you want it to be carefree and not have to worry about the weather on vacation. I have the SpeedyB 25 in mono and would hesitate to take it on vacation. I bought a really comfortable wide crossbody strap on the Ebene brown from Dress Up Your Purse and use that on my Siena. I personally hate the SpeedyB strap, even in vachetta I find it uncomfortable and so rarely use it.
I would keep the Damier Ebene since that is what you are gravitating towards. And it is less of a beacon so to speak as it’s understated vs the Monogram. The Monogram is beautiful so I can understand the dilemma however how would you feel if you kept the monogram? I think you would regret not keeping the Damier Ebene print. You seem more in love with the Damier Ebene.

I love both but would keep the DE. It’s travel proof and I just like the look of DE over monogram; it’s more understated. I had a mono classic Speedy 35 and sold as I never used. I use a Tory Burch Large Ella bag in black nylon/patent leather as my travel bag.
Oh funny! I used to have the large Ella bag from TB too! I used it as a work bag many years ago when I used to schlep my laptop around! It was a great workhorse and then eventually I donated it. 😉 Have a great day!
DE for sure, I don’t like the speedy, but this big size is actually nice in DE. This definitely be ultimate travel bag with a little luggage. I always like the less logo look better and more subtle for sure. I am even thinking 🤔 should I get a large size? 😉
Don’t sweat on the Vachetta It will leave a stain. The extra dustbag is for the strap. Is the canvas thicker on the preloved bag. Vintage LV canvas more durable than new
I only found out lately that the original classic print was actually the damier ebene print and when the father of LV passed away his son brought out the monogram print. Did anyone knew about this?

DE looks better. I’m not a big fan of the Vachetta strips on the side of bag from all the Monogram Speedy Bs. It’s just a little too much. I love DE speedy Bs and classic mono speedys.
I am going to be very honest. I personally do not like any speedy in any size, or the neverful or the alma bb and I know these are all iconic bags. I just never liked it no matter the hype. Also for travel I pack a lot and I just use longchamp bag. Now since you do like the speedy I would keep the DE its carefree :)

Do you find the ebene strap edges sharp? I tried on Speedy 25B in Spain and I knew ebene strap edge would bother me in the summer if I wear anything sleeveless and the strap would just be on my skin. I do like that the ebene print is less loud, but I went with monogram because vachette is softer.
I agree with everyone who's voting for Damier Ébène! You wouldn't have to baby it as much, and when you're traveling you want to have a good time and not spend so much time worrying about your bag IMO :)

Hmm, I have no idea if Fashionphile flags accounts with excessive returns. I guess it would depend on the reasons for returns? Or if returns aren’t sent back in the proper condition? Not sure really. I haven’t heard anything about it.
I love both I have a speedy 30 in the classic in monogram but if I was traveling I would go for the damier ebene it’s carefree and less in your face if you know what I mean and you allready have a speedy 25 in the classic monogram so I say keep the damier ebene and send the monogram back to FASHIONPHILE

Damier ebene is the best choice for me
Keep the DE! It’s beautiful and less delicate on the leather part for traveling. When I travel, I don’t want to worry about messing up the bag.

My heart and my head are saying 2 different things! I ended up selling my speedy 25 because I also found it to big for me, but travel is different. 💕

The DE 35 looks too masculine esp in the bigger sizes. I vote the mono, looks feminine and once it has patina its carefree too.

Do you find the ebene strap edges sharp? I tried on Speedy 25B in Spain and I knew ebene strap edge would bother me in the summer if I wear anything sleeveless and the strap would just be on my skin. I do like that the ebene print is less loud, but I went with monogram because vachette is softer.
If you are not going to use it often probably the most comfortable for you I will choose for me

I love both I have a speedy 30 in the classic in monogram but if I was traveling I would go for the damier ebene it’s carefree and less in your face if you know what I mean and you allready have a speedy 25 in the classic monogram so I say keep the damier ebene and send the monogram back to FASHIONPHILE
