Infant mortality and child malnutrition are persistent problems that are not being addressed with the deserving urgency; hunger and overall poverty have been. I am an MBBS student and trust me situation is really bad. We see cases of kwashiorkor and marasmus daily in our paediatrics ward.

FYI, I have worked with Concern Worldwide for 17 years in Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Cambodia and Afghanistan and I can vouch for their commitment to fight poverty and hunger across the world. While in India I worked for a Local NGO which received funding from WHH and we worked in remote areas in Tamil Nadu bordering Karnataka (the infamous Veerappan operational area), and helped thousands of indigenous households with livelihood initiatives. I can vouch for their genuine work devoid of any political undercurrents. These are genuine civil society - people to people initiatives focused on fighting poverty and hunger without discriminating based on religion, race, ethnicity, gender, age, physical or mental ability and sexual orientation. Dr. Manmohan Singh was humble enough to release such a report and accepted not enough was being done. Acknowledging something is wrong is the first step in the right direction to address and resolve these problems. If we keep using the persecution complex to rubbish any global report that shows us in poor light, the loss will be ours. Thank you once again for the excellent video

Malnutrition is a very big problem in India. It is not at all about poverty. Ofcourse low income groups have more malnutrition but it is surprisingly high in even middle income and high income groups.
Lack of proper nutrition, lack of balanced diet, tracking of health, and especially severe neglect of girl child nutrition, in all groups.
Please explain me, now Pakistan has suffering for floods, and the huge number of peoples are suffering for foods. The agricultural lands had destroyed in Pakistan. So how Pakistan's rank is impressive then India in this index . This global hunger index had conducted by European NGO's.The informations which were using in this index is not sufficient. And few monthes ago bread had crosed 500 rs in Srilanka. And in this index srilanka is better performing then India 😅.

There are a lot of families who still eat 2 times a day and that meal includes 2 rotis and achar, sometimes they get lucky and eat fruits and vegetables too
It is good that this issue is getting the attention of the media and Indian government. Although I don't agree that we are on the same level as Ethiopia, Afghanistan, etc. I'm fairly sure that our actual ranking will be at least 25 spots above the current rank. But even that is not a rank to be proud of. Hopefully we take the necessary steps to improve the nutrition and healthcare facilities for poor people.

I'm totally agree with you, but we should keep in mind that we are running world biggest food programme in India, however, the Occidental, so called Western flag bearer ignored it. On the top of it, even they ranked Pakistan above being hit by floods and looming economic crises. Moreover, this fact can't be denied that they are all ignorent and biased promoting biased agendas, which in turn , destroying India's image at global stages.
Furthermore, it's even more heartwrenching to watch ppl being brainwashed by them giving some so called logical reasons, which seems to be right, though reality is far removed than it.
In addition, don't get me worng, I'm not promoting that India is immune aginst the poverty and hunger, rather the presentation and portrait carved out by the m in biased way.

Malnutrition is a serious issue for our country, there are many who can easily afford whatever they want to have and some aren't even getting a little, something must be done, "Mushroom is an effective way to deal with malnutrition" also the government is working on it so that it can be easily available for the underprivileged. @@sanatanihindu3089 Bro, i am not aware about Pakistan and Shri Lanka but the factors that is considered in the survey shows that we are lacking somewhere, that is what we have to change. If we see around in our own surroundings we can find children who hesitate to eat, even though we can afford anything, most of the children need a phone in front of them while eating and there are several other factors. The fact is that we can improve and we must improve. I am concerned because I deeply love and respect my country and its pride matters to me.
There's one point everyone's missing which is intra-generational malnourishment according to which a malnourished person's 2 generations will be more or less malnourished no matter what nourishment they get. Since malnourished poor people are having way more kids than average people it is resulting in more babies with genetic malnourishment and poverty. This index will get worse if we fail to control the population, especially in the under privileged and rural demographics.

The GHI measurement uses statistical tools to measure hunger at global level, being a statistical tool there will always be inaccuracy in measurement. The rank may be 57, 101 or 107 it doesn't matter here rather the outcome / interpretation of such a measurement is important, and as per that India as a nation is not at best position at GHI.
