You are magic !! I’m in Wisconsin, it’s raining buckets. I’ve been watching my chickens enjoy chickweed and cleavers for years ! Now you have me running about in the rain and harvesting cleavers for tea for myself ! Thank you keep the good stuff going 😊❤

I love chickweed.
I live in Grayson county virginia and do foraging every time I get a chance. People need to get out and learn the land and get back to real life and take the wonderful bounty mother nature has to offer. I like your self make my own medicine and completely believe in this way of life. Keep up the videos we need to teach people about what God has for us if we just open ours eyes and look.

I LOVE your feral child story. I laughed and never realized that other girls did the same as me. I was raised on a remote shore of a glacier lake in Western Canada. I will never forget the site of poison Oak leaves because they caused at least a month of terrible pain. My poor mother, who was trained as a nurse. was always nursing her little feral daughter.
Oh...I saw the bloodroot at the end! It's always a treat to spot that! You're ahead of us in zone 6a, west central Ohio. We always have lots of big clumps of ramps. Yum! I want to do a lot of chickweed medicine this year, and add it to my greens blend.

I love it when you forage because i have learned so much watching your videos. A neighbor has ramps on his property. Several years ago, my cousin and i picked some. You are right, it has a strong smell. I dried some and boy you can smell it when you open the jar. I took some and added to butter to put on french bread. Thanks to you last year, I dicovered chickweed and purple nettle right in my yard along with Jewelweed.
I am ready to learn on foraging.
One year we discovered fiddleheads, but I cannot remember were we found them.
I think I am going to have to start writing locations down and leaving some sort of marker. 😅
I learn so much from your channel, Kaylee. I'm in NC (consider myself an amateur herbalist) and it is absolutely gorgeous here the last few days. And I SCREAMED when I found cleavers in my yard. My husband said "aww, congratulations, babe!". HAHAHAH

At our old house, we had a walnut tree and our then poodle puppy loved playing with them above any ball or stick. We would find them all over the house. LOL Now that we have a six-acre piece of heaven down here in NC our now older 14-year-old poodle still loves to forage with me taking walks around our woods and pond. Last week, I spent a while gathering many of the dead nettle plants. I'll keep an eye out now for the chickweed. Thanks for all the great information and sharing your knowledge. God bless. My husband and I love to sit in our gazebo and watch the ducks fly in for the evening as our dates.

I can't believe that I'm 53 years old and just now learning all of this! I have cleavers all over my backyard. Hubby was about to rip it out. I'm going to grab a handful and make tea to see, if it helps with my edema and lymphatic movement. Thank you!

YEUP, I noticed a bunch of BEES🐝🐝🐝 out in front today ( Thursday 21 Mar. ) & they were going crazy all over my Red Flowering Quince bushes out west here in the Land of OZ🌻 😉 👍
Super excited to go forage...my sister is like 3 weeks ahead if us on the growth of stuff n she has BEAUTIFUL mullein growing everywhere...gonna go forage lots...in our woods the one side is FULL of ramps...excited to forage some n freeze dry for powder💃💃💃...I also just took a pic of garlic mustard right outside our garage door👏👏

Purple Deadnettle has just started here in the NW.
I've had a personal foraging first this spring, harvesting and eating Fawn Lily bulbs. I was given "Nature's Garden" for Xmas and it's the first plant in the book. As soon as I read the description and saw the pics I knew I'd seen it about a mile from our home. Kept going back to the same spot every week and they finally started popping out of the dirt:)

No Spring here yet. Zone 4a, Alaska still has 2 feet of snow on the gtound. Well to be fair its 30° today. Our idea if Spring. Our seeds are getting started and I have so many herbs this year becayse if this herbal rabbit hole Ive fallen into. We'll get to harvest willow bark and Devils club soon.

In Ontario, can't wait for spring foraging. We have Ramps here, just not yet and we call them wild leeks. Unfortunately, ya gotta suffer the black flies at the same time. I have already seen little baby mullien sprouting up even with a little snow on the ground still. Mullien is good wild "toilet paper" too.
You're lucky. I'm still in winter. Snow on the ground and mud season. Thinking I need to move to a warmer climate.

I didn't know you could buy ramp bulbs! I had my first taste of them when I bought a bunch at the Ashville Farmers Market several springs ago. I would LOVE to plant some near my pond to have since that is a 2-hour drive to get more. I would be afraid to try cleavers as a tea because just handling it breaks out my hands in a rash. I usually let my hens have the chickweed because it is the first greens available in spring along with my abundance of kale and they give me eggs for the treats.

I used poison ivy once. As a child. Seriously. Then had to go to school n sit in wooden desk with no air conditioning. Oh yeah. Will never forget it. We were camping on a lake n it was my time to waterski. Everyone was hollering for me and I didn’t even look just grabbed. Big mistake.
I thought about doing this but so much work into it and I'm also very highly allergic to wasp for a hornet sting but other than that I love and play with bees and my property you don't see them

I've got problems with the neighbors letting my chickens out when I'm gone they'll watch me and then they tear up my garden my strawberries my herbs my garden anything else they'll get out running around or else the neighbor's cats will come over and has killed five of my chickens damaged my ducks legs and my chicken legs I wished I lived out in the country more like you

And I’ve been wanting to ask if you ever use herbs to help your pets?? I have an 8 year old black lab named Georgia who has chronic bronchitis. The only thing my vet says can be done is occasional steroids. Just wondered if you had any suggestions ❤

Oh my gosh! I found dead nettle in my backyard and I want to harvest it but I am nervous that the person who lived here before me put some sort of bug killer all over the yard a couple months ago. Is it still safe to harvest??? I also found feverfew!!!
So when I was growing up, I didn’t realize the importance of things that we had growing I was young I’m pretty sure my parents knew but now that I’m older, I think about it and I’m like wow those things think we just took for granted we had low quaz We had cumquaz. We had pecans. The big ones .,we have mulberry all around .,the low Quaz them all around .,Elderberry is growing wild in my backyard all the time I started propagating it and giving it to Friends and I do harvest it and freeze it. I just haven’t made any yet, but I have it in the freezer and it’s funny. I think the pandemic got everybody jumpstarted on growing things I have a 22-year-old Asian pear tree that gives us abundance of pears like 300 pounds One tree well it got to be so massive. I had to give it a hard pruning this winter and I really butchered it but it’s coming back it’s beautiful so hopefully I’ll get some pears 🍐 this year. It was just out of control. It was hard to harvest the pears. I have I have trees, blueberries, all kinds of stuff, crabapple And I’ve gotten good. This is my fourth year in the garden and I’ve gotten so much better now I just plant what I want to eat and I’ve been very successful. I’ve learned to succession plant so I’m doing really well I can do two or three harvest of carrots Different timings, two or three potatoes, garlic onions I’ve gotten so good I’m doing onions right now by seed, I just love it and I’m in the city here in Houston Texas but I do want your show when I get a chance thank you Hailey and we miss your mom. Hope to see her soon. 🐝 🌱🌱

My chickens keep on getting out of no matter what I do they're tearing up my whole entire yard I guess I'm going to have to cut their wings which I don't like doing and which I found out some of them it doesn't even work and the fence is 5 ft tall too

Do you know how ramson compares to ramps in taste? I've had the wild garlic in the past, but it has since become illegal to harvest in my area. I'm wondering if ramps would taste similar.
They are the same thing. Ramos are wild garlic.

I have been looking for ramps and ostrich ferns for the last 3 years. Can I buy ostrich ferns also. I have 155 acres and cannot find any.
You can buy the ferns. They need a shady and moist environment. You can also forage those. Dig a very small clump, a couple sprigs of root is all you need. If your conditions are right, they will spread rather quickly.

What does ramp? Do for your body? I don't think I've ever heard of them.
Ramps are wild garlic. They are much stronger in flavor than domestically grown garlic. They have basically the same the properties as garlic. Old timers always used them as a “spring tonic” believing they rid the body of toxins because if you eat a lot of ramps, your sweat can even smell like Ramps. They contain more sulfur compounds than domestic garlic and is a good source of antioxidants. It’s good for inflammation and has antimicrobial properties. It is indeed a very good, albeit smelly, spring tonic!
