So my question is, what's the difference between doing that procedure and just putting the vehicle in neutral using the gear shifter? Could you not get it towed using the neutral on the shifter instead?
@@BusMaster99 is there a reason you would use this method over pulling the cord found in the hinge area of the center console? Do you have to do both when towing?
Will doing this prevent the transfer clutches from winding up and chattering off and on? If so I might do this during seasons where I don't expect a 4WD need. Will this prevent mismatched tires from damaging the transfer case? thx
My 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee is stuck in four-wheel drive low. I got stuck leaving someone's driveway and now after I've gotten unstuck I can't get it out of four-wheel drive low and yes I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing driving five miles an hour putting it in a neutral and then hitting the button but it won't shut off please somebody help me

Is it necessary to perform this procedure (N) to select snow, sand, rock, mud terrain or can I simply do it with my transmission in park, can you please help me?
Good afternoon. It is only necessary to select neutral when going between high and low range on the transfer case or when the desired terrain mode is requesting low range.
Help me someone. I have this setup, never used my jeep to haul and now I need to haul a 5 x 12 Y haul trailer. I am so confused and no clue what settings to use. You said this is for hauling but what eles do I do :( ☹ I don't know anything apparently
So im having this same problem, and i tried what you did exactly and nothing is changing. The light remains red and the car remains neutral. Any tips on what the problem could be?
@@albertoezau24 Yes it is full time 4WD. The auto you're seeing is most likely the terrain select mode. There is a button to go between 4WD high and low, but you have to be in neutral to do so.
I have a 2012 grand cherokee limited with Quadra Trac 2 .. mine is stuck in Neutral tried this method but all I hear is the transfer case clicking but won't turn it off or get it off Neutral. @@BusMaster99 but I think that shifter problem cannot cause death, i have the same car (overland) with that shifter, and it is working fine… i do even not see where this parking position may contribute to a confusing situation

Got those of you wondering, this is primarily helpful for flat towing like if hauling without a dolly or towing behind an rv
Now that’s a quality Chrysler product

How did u fix this ?
Need help on this too
So my question is, what's the difference between doing that procedure and just putting the vehicle in neutral using the gear shifter? Could you not get it towed using the neutral on the shifter instead?
The car has an electronic shifter. It will not turn off unless it is in park and it will not shift from park unless the engine is running.
@@BusMaster99 is there a reason you would use this method over pulling the cord found in the hinge area of the center console? Do you have to do both when towing?

You have to make sure your transmission is in neutral, not park. You must also have the parking brake set and hold down the foot brake.

What’s the purpose of this?
So that the car can be towed.

Sounds like your transfer case itself is fucked.
You think ? 🤔
what happend ? did you fix it?

that’s so stupid ugh I hate Jeep why can’t they just have a neutral mode on the transfer case shifter like literally every other car company smh
Lol it’s that hard to put a car in neutral even like the guy of the video did?
I like the cherokees alot but this is kinda a dumb design.

tienes un normal car, no 4x4 xD
Quadra trac 1 thats why .
Quadratrac 1. You can’t put the transfer case into neutral. Therefore must be towed on a flat bed
Why do you need to know how to do this?
In case you need to be towed in an emergency or in case you entered neutral by accident and can't figure out how to re-engage the transfer case.

@@sockowe1209 Nice. Snow mode on vehicles is almost useless imo when winter tires exist and provide much better traction in those conditions.
