    Slur Practice Guide PDF: www.mercefont....
    I just put together a new video that I hope might be useful to many of you to use as a daily routine. This time we are focusing on the SLURS TECHNIQUE
    Just like the previous routine, in this video, you will listen to my indications about how to practice these routines with the correct technique in order to maximize efficiency and gradually get rid of tension or unwanted movements.
    My aim and hope are that playing along with this video every day as part of your warm-up routine, will help you to integrate these essential concepts into your playing in a very smooth and easy way manner and develop a much more steady, precise, and effortless Left Hand Technique.
    I hope you enjoy it and please, let me know what you think about it! 🤗

    Really. valuable slurs technique and workout videos ..thank you so much for posting! Pumping Nylon has one doing similar exercises at the 1st position, but changing to higher positions as you recommend really gives one a chance to focus on the different feel of doing slurs based on the changing action. Also some valuable tips on other technical aspects on which to focus, such keeping parallel with the frets for pull offs (last video). Thanks again!

    Another tip: consider a lower tension string set. You can always increase tension in the future. I'm currently using Knobloch ERITHACUS BIO Nylon 31.5. These are some fantastic strings and have made my Alhambra 7P much more enjoyable to play. I used your "4 DAILY EXERCISES to develop a great LEFT HAND" for about a month before digging into this one. I think it's a terrific workout in and of itself and especially helpful towards this workout.

    As usual Mercè, thanks very much for taking the time to make these play-along videos. It helps immensely to self-learners like me :) If you want ideas for more, how about 3 and 4 note slurs? I'm working on some Sagreras studies and it's killing me 😣😣

    • @MerceFont
      @MerceFont  3 роки тому

      Hi Oscar! Sure I will do more advanced versions of the routines, first I want to cover the basics as I might need to refer to some concepts of essential stuff in more advanced videos, but I'm definitely going to be working on different difficulties of slurs as well :) Keep tight with Sagreras and isolate difficult passages, that always helps to master them and feel a bit more at ease when you play the entire piece :)

    Greetings, dear Merce!! Thank you 🙏🏻 once again for this wonderful video/session. It is so very valuable, with exercises and insights, and is already giving me confidence to get back on slurs. And I can visualize how improved the playing can become. Thank you 🙏🏻 for your time and effort .
    You cover the basics and all the required details so well, yet make it look so easy. Plus the helpful hints. I will be looking forward for more videos from you, and specially on tremolo, if that is possible, sometime in the future.
    Best wishes to you always. Have a wonderful weekend and week ahead.🙏🏻👍🏻

    • @MerceFont
      @MerceFont  3 роки тому +1

      Hi dear Pavan! Always so happy to read you! Definitely tremolo is one of the topics I'd like to cover in the near future. Despite that, I have to say that, as there are some important things to have practiced/trained before to have a more complete/detailed approach to the tremolo, I'm trying to cover al of these basic concepts so that when I do a more advanced technique I can refer the audience to simpler concepts videos in case they need it for their level or educational 'gaps'. This way the youtube audience can still have a somewhat complete overview of the whole picture despite such videos not being as personalised as it can be a one to one lesson :)

      @@MerceFont Thank you 🙏🏻 dear Merce. Yes, I completely agree with your plan. Needless to say, all your videos and lessons will be so very valuable to everyone, to focus and master the basics and progressively use them to improve and become better musician. Once again, many thanks, and Best Wishes to you always.

    Workout is right! I don't know Merce, whether to thank or curse you! I've been faithfully doing your slur exercises for about three weeks now and my left hand fingers feel as if they are ready to fall off! I am making sure my hammer-ons are accurate (my 4th finger needed special attention, as I want hammer-ons with that finger as close to the nail as possible). Also, I am paying special attention to 4th and 5th finger hammer-ons and pull-offs, since they are weak as compared to other fingers and seem to need the most work. OMG, Merce... my fingers are so tired, but I will remain faithful to this practice, because obviously I need it! Thank you so much!

    Ouchee......I managed to do the whole routine along with you but was glad it was over when it was. I was ready to rest for sure. This one really pointed out my weaknesses, namely the 2-3, 3-4 finger pull-offs (excuse me "descending slurs") I feel pretty strong on the majority, but can see the benefit of having a daily routine. I mean I've been walking for about 58 years and do it every day and still stumble from time to time. You would think I would have that shit mastered by now.😋

    Merce, when you do your extended routine, from the seventh fret down to the first and back up again, do you just do mixed slurs (on the basis that they include both the ascending and descending slurs) or do you continue to also separately practice the ascending and descending slurs as well? Also do you practice at a faster tempo than demonstrated here?

    Help :( my pull off slur sometimes sounds like open string and sometimes like the same fret i am holding next to it! what am I doing wrong?

    • @MerceFont
      @MerceFont  3 роки тому

      probably sync issues when the left hand finger land on the string. Try to land the fingers on the fretboard again right when your right hand plugs. If the problem is that you are touching the string below with the left hand practice first the circular motion to be a little bit smaller from 'pressure downwards on the fret, release and finger rotates back on to the string'. Sorry it's hard to explain, but you can hopefully understand what I mean watching the video :)

For following up with the workout download the PDF so you can have every exercise written down and know what comes next. This way you can use the video for daily warm up and not waste time on re listening the explanation of the same exercise over and over again, that's the point of such 'workout videos' :)
