Dick's Last Resort is a chain. They don't have a lot of locations, however. I ate at one with friends in San Antonio. It was a blast. The staff are jokingly rude, but honestly really helpful and funny.
The Myrtle Beach location was great as well.
I got a free dessert when I told the Chef at Dick's in San Antonio, "I had better chicken fried steak cooked in the microwave than I had there" He came to my table and shook my hand & gave me a free piece of cake
😂😂😂
we use the word "awesome" the way Brits use "brilliant". Usually the situation or object is neither, just an embellishment in both cases.
Brilliant
Sick
I'd say "Ya'll," is pretty much across the States, nowdays. I know I deliberately adopted it as a teen when I realized saying "Yinz," as my family did, marked me as from a specific area in PA - but not where I actually was born and raised - it was where my mother's family was born and raised. "You guys," is very common now, too, over "Yinz," and, "Youse," even though it's still very common to hear both.
About 25 years ago when my niece Stacy was living in Chicago, my sister and I went out to spend a week with her. She took us to a very retro-themed placed (black and white tiles on the floor, red vinyl booth benches, records hanging on the wall and waitress in traditional pink waitress uniforms with scalloped cuffs and collars) where they were deliberately rude. The food was excellent and the decor was fun, but our waitress didn't know a thing about being rude. Stacy was very disappointed.
You guys have got me hooked on BeardMeatsFood. I watch his videos all the time. In fact, I had already seen this one but it was fun watching ya'll react to it. :)
Yinz are from Pittsburgh are ya? Hehe
You guys has always been the go to in NY.
@@liamengram6326 Actually, I'm from NorthCentral PA - near Williamsport. My mother's family is from Clearfield from just after the Revolution. My 5x Greatgrandfather was one of the first what men in that area after he mustered out of the Continental Army. He and his six brothers all fought at the battle of Germantown. He and all the generations since have had large (12+ kids) families and the crazy thing is, the majority in all those generations since LIVED to bear children. The family tree is HUGE on that branch. :)
@@cindymatthewsarrowdalearts6449 Ahh, see I thought Yinz was a specifically Pittsburgh/Western PA thing.
@@liamengram6326 it's odd - I never thought of Clearfield County as "west" particularly, until I started to pI'ay attention to these regional differences. Mom's family says "warsh" too, instead of "wash," and they "red off the table," or "red up," the living room. Some of them even said, "Garsh," instead of "gosh,". We all grew up in Williamsport but my sisters all talk like that. I retrained myself in grade school, when I became a voracious reader and realized how words were spelled and therefore pronounced, so much so that when we're all together and meeting someone for the first time, I get asked where I'm from. :)
Dicks has many restaurants.. I’ve went to the one at Myrtle Beach SC back in the 90’s and loved it.
That's the one I went to, and ironically, the same time period.
@@rukus9585 You must’ve been on spring break like I was
Love these videos! Also, as a Midwesterner, I can confirm that we use "ya'll" A LOT as well lol
I dunno, I use "awesome" a lot as a west coast person but to be fair, even we use "ya'll" lol.
Loving the Beardmeatsfood reactions! He's a beast! Y'all is also used everywhere. I'm from the Bronx and I say it A LOT. And awesome😂
If awesome is the most overused American word, brilliant or bloody would be the English equivalents. Pip pip cheerio matey😂
Most used word in America “FUCK”. Atleast for most working men
Agreed. It's a constant. Comes with the good and bad stuff on a work day.
Fuck yeah.
Y'all is definitely an all over thing. It's certainly most common in the south, but I'm Pennsylvania born and raised, and most people I know use it as well.
Yins definitely say yall in PA
I'm from The Bronx, and a lot of us say "y'all" as well
I think the steak, mash and side salad are there because they’re kinda traditional accompaniments to a steak dinner
So it’s essentially a steak dinner with all the trimmings, plus a pile of nachos and the footlong coney
We use y’all everywhere
I would love to see a "Karen" go there and get owned by the staff when she tries to get nasty toward them
My late husband and I went to a Dick's Last Resort in Gatlinburg Tennessee...we laughed so much 😂❤
I definitely need to check that place out sometime. I'd fit right in there
Y'all is DEFINITELY used everywhere.
Ithink Motherfucker is an all American phrase.
Y’all is very common in Philly too. Awesome I only hear in the movies😂.
As an Ohioan i have never said yall in my life lol
Wow! Both my mom and dad's family are all from Ohio and they say it more than myself. I was mostly raised in NC and I don't use it nearly as much as them, their siblings, etc.
I use awesome a lot. My wife can tell when I’ve watched your channel too much. I’ve started using “mate” and “to be fare”
*fair- but that's not just a UK thing. Americans have also used that forever. Same as "to be honest..."
My mom took me to Dicks in Illinois when before they closed down. I had never heard of it and she knew what it was. when the waitress brought our drinks and she threw a straw at me, I was livid, I only knew it was a joke when my mom burst out laughing at me when my face got red and I started to get up to confront her.
I’m loving these videos. I hope you keep them coming! Great content!!
Everyone says Y’all in America
As someone from the southern U.S. I will say that ya'll is spoken fluently here. As someone who was in the military and spent time in several places, I'll say that up north it can be you'ens, yous or you all. In the southwest, with the locals you'll hear the ya'll but, with the draw the pronunciation may vary. Just something to hear for the first time for sure if you haven't yet. Have a great time on your trip here!!
No “Ya’ll” isn’t just a southern thing by the way. From Pennsylvania here, been all over.
As a Californian, this was awesome.
Our “awesome” is y’all’s “brilliant”
"Yall" has crept into other areas of the U.S. but it's certainly southern dialect, regardless of the where the speaker is from.
I’m from Cleveland and everybody says y’all.
Yes we do. East sider here
I disagree
Americans definitely overuse “awesome” but much in the same way Brits overuse “brilliant”
Loving the Beard Meets Food. :)
Mall of America also has one
Really impressive how his beard wasn’t a complete mess
I think he hides the food under it lol
I think currently, there are 10 Dicks across the country. There used to be more at one time...
I'd only be able to dine there for so long before I gave playful digs back at the staff. I grew up on the saying, "Don't dish it out if you can't take it." haha But I know it's the theme, so I'd have to bite my tongue.
I wonder if this is the one in Vegas. Y'all is definitely a southern thing, we don't really say it in the Vegas area
At $80 I'm going to get my cup of feel. Haha
IMO Americans don't understand banter like the Brits or us Swedes do. It's not just being insulting, it's also being clever about it
I don't hear "awesome" as much these days 🤔 But though "Yall" definitiely has roots in the south, it's pretty much common in the majority of low income areas from North to South these days
Everybody is saying y'all, no matter income level.
@@kikibigbangfan3540exactly. Don't think income is relevant, as many millionaires and even billionaires say it.
all the music seems to be late 90's early 2000's classic pop/rap.. he says annoying , I say best playlist
He seems to go to these places at their quietest times. I wonder if he calls ahead to let them know he is coming so they can have the food ready and done well?
I mean, it makes sense if you're recording. Less people you need to get clearance for recording since it's a private establishment, not in public. Also, way less noise. I assume he goes to every place at 11am or 4pm.
I reluctantly went there with friends back in college and of course the Waitress honed in on me,lol.
That piece of pie was $10.99!!!
Dicks opened in 1985 and it is a chain. Karen’s diner didn’t open until 2021
I say youse guys. Not everyone says y'all.
Ya'll is a southern thing.
Wow, you got straight ratioed. You're the only one saying that. There's maybe 30 comments from states everywhere saying that everyone says it, lol. Maybe listen better?
@rukus9585 It STARTED in the south, and I never said those people can't move from the south and still say ya'll, hence the spread of the word.
@rukus9585 I can't tell you how many northerners come down here and say, I have to brush up on my southern slang. And the first word they say is "Ya'll" .... with my work I get to meet a lot of people moving here from the north. So maybe I do listen, huh
That waitress is like my dream girl
Has this guy not finished a challenge??
Yep ive seen a few. One was a giant pancake challenge
I am in America where is this place
Dicks last resort needs to go out of business. That place has sucked hard for 30 years
What’s a Bin Man?
Yer da
Garbage man
garbage man
Refuge Collector
Trash man
I live in the most northeastern state. Nobody here uses y'all unless we are purposely making fun of the south
Y'all is everywhere. And making fun of people sounds like something a rude Northerner would do. 😊
@@kikibigbangfan3540 Yes because " bless your heart" is so polite 🤣
@@Mary-xc9dhBringing back memories of my meemaw with that line.
They do, in fact, say it there daily even with no joking.
@@Mary-xc9dh it is actually polite. They could just call you an idiot or stupid to your face. But instead choose to say "Bless your heart". So yes it is really nice.
Y’all is South only. The one you guys say, which is Texas, Oklahoma, and some southern states is reckon. Never hear it west, north or east. It’s strange to hear you say it.
Y'all is not south only at all.
It's everywhere. This is only the 2nd comment that says no. 30+ comments from non southern states say everyone uses it there. I've heard it in every northern state I've been to. Hell, it's everywhere in Canada.
