For those of you who need a free poser, Magic Poser on Android is a great, really easy to use app thats very similar to clip studios. There's also an app called Handy, that lets you pose and light more difficult parts of the body like hands, feet, and heads. The only thing i need now is a clothing simulator.
Thank you, UA-cam, suggesting this to me! I've been wanting to make comics for a looooong time, but had trouble finding good software to transform my art. This video had a ton of very helpful information for me! Thank you!
I loved you tips for the brushes. You really used them well and to your advantage. I usually never know how to make them look good, but you had great advice and the scene looked lovely!
Me, I also love using 3D models as references, but my go-to tool for making those is DAZ3D. I find that it not only has a wider array of models and resources but said models and resources are much more versatile. It really helps, setting up storyboards and creating viable backgrounds for my work.
Another trick with the 3D models for poses, you can actually take some reference photos of you in the poses, and then CSP will let you use a photo and the model will try to match the pose. This can be helpful if you can't get your real camera in a spot for your pose, but once it's transferred to the model you can rotate it freely.
The bit about making the forest is really cool and helpful! Although posing a character in 3d seems like a lot of work, id rather take photos if possible to be honest heh
Fantastic tips, good luck with the comic, your work is phenomenal ! I'd like to share some other hints I've picked up: -the Vector layer for lineart is awesome. -use the quickfill tools ! Very much a timesaver. -you can import custom 3D models from sites like Free3D, TurboSquid, Sketchfab ecetra, you're not limited to the Clip 'community store' thing all you need is the OBJ file. -there is a tool in Clip that can read poses from photo's, its not perfect tho. -Clip has a layer 'filter' that makes the 3D items look like an ink background, again not perfect but can be helpful to some. -Clip also has a build in AI that colors pictures for you, could be useful for seeing what works.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I'm a rookie when it comes to different poses and perspective and I've never used Clip Studio Paint so I didn't even know this feature of 3-D models existed! This is going to help me so much!
Chair-kun for channel mascot 2K20 Also we need to talk a lot more about these kinds of things. People just assume artists can produce 20+ pages of a comic per month easily and get super upset when they find out someone traced a bit. A lot of comic book artists trace backgrounds or poses, can we do it by hand? Yeah, sure! Do we have time on a deadline? Nope!
I think the 3d model could be VERY useful for getting the anatomy on stranger poses for example if you were drawing spider man in mid air shooting a web it would be difficult to map out ACCURATE anatomy but I'm ASSUMING the 3d model could help with that :D
I mean, you don't need to pose the models exactly down to the correct finger placement. As long as you get a general idea of the proportions you can just draw in the exact positioning when you draw over it which would save you a lot of time and effort.
Artists are really meticulous when it comes to fine details and small ones that maybe others can’t see. The artists knows they are there so it might be helpful for the artist that the finger placement or other small details look good.

Man I never realized how useful the poses are, I’m trying to transition over from SAI (though I still need to set it up to match the S-# stabilizers from SAI cause that slow line function helps a lot) and it helps a lot to see how models can be used ... helps me feel more confident in working with odd angles and full bodies. Same with backgrounds and how you’d set them up cause backgrounds are still also a thing I need to learn. 😭 Thank you for the video!

Tysmmm for this video
Its clear that many artists use 3D features but none will admit it
And its superrr time consuming to try and draw everything on ur own
Tysmmm for this video againn
Dude you are the best. This video has been the best I have seen in two years. Every other videos didnt explain clipstudio how you did. Thanks.
OMG CHAIR KUN---- I FOLLOW YOU SINCE YOU WERE IN CHAIREM ANIME :D
Godammit
For those of you who need a free poser, Magic Poser on Android is a great, really easy to use app thats very similar to clip studios. There's also an app called Handy, that lets you pose and light more difficult parts of the body like hands, feet, and heads. The only thing i need now is a clothing simulator.
Design Doll is really good, too.
So many great tools! Can't wait for the comic~. Happy to see you working on cool stuff!! :3
Oh damn it never occurred to me that I could use brushes to make my backgrounds faster to draw.
Hi I'm booboo the fool.
I know!! I recently learned how to add textures to backgrounds in photoshop. I'm a digital artist but I'm trying to use it traditionally L M A O
Me as a filipino: ohhh shiz hahhaha
I'm starting to get afraid because people will lewd Chair-kun...
NavyKing HD the internet shows no mercy to the innocent sadly 😔
Me, I also love using 3D models as references, but my go-to tool for making those is DAZ3D. I find that it not only has a wider array of models and resources but said models and resources are much more versatile. It really helps, setting up storyboards and creating viable backgrounds for my work.
Where were you all my life??? Jesus you art is beautiful X3. And thank you for this video, that actually helped me :D.
Another trick with the 3D models for poses, you can actually take some reference photos of you in the poses, and then CSP will let you use a photo and the model will try to match the pose. This can be helpful if you can't get your real camera in a spot for your pose, but once it's transferred to the model you can rotate it freely.
THIS IS SO HELPFUL THANK YOU!
The bit about making the forest is really cool and helpful! Although posing a character in 3d seems like a lot of work, id rather take photos if possible to be honest heh
Laovaan: New videos every week!!
Me : I smell a lie
Also Laovaan : *exposes himself
Also Me : its okay laovaan-
Fantastic tips, good luck with the comic, your work is phenomenal !
I'd like to share some other hints I've picked up:
-the Vector layer for lineart is awesome.
My whole struggle was not insoluble... Thank you for showing this beginner digital artist a way!
Like when you come to learn how to make a webtoons but end up finding a comic to read
I never pose the models myself. Instead I download poses from Clip Studio Assets.
This is very helpful vid
Thank you
I didnt know you can do that manequin and also the bg in CS
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I'm a rookie when it comes to different poses and perspective and I've never used Clip Studio Paint so I didn't even know this feature of 3-D models existed! This is going to help me so much!
this was really helpful! Thank you!!
Chair-kun for channel mascot 2K20
Also we need to talk a lot more about these kinds of things.
DARN those starting hand drawn ones look amazing
Uuuugh okay i was breathless when you were doing the model thing and made it flail lolll today i found my new fav artists
You're so cute 😭😭 I wasn't prepared 😭
Welcome back!!!
Me: Just literally read big bad wolf rn
My youtube: Let me show you how it was made
I never thought youtube would start giving me good recommendations.
This video was every helpful. Thank you. Plus, the part where you have to have textures, shadows, and using models to help is enjoyable.
Thank you so much for making such a helpful video. Of all the videos I've seen on comic art on UA-cam, this one is my favorite!
Have you heard of WEBTOON where you can put your comic in
Look in the description, there's a link to the comic on webtoon.
Bucket-kun is secretly in love with Chair-kun.
Yes. Beard live action and chair-kun. The perfect combination for the perfect video 👌🏼 Thank you for sharing! Don’t worry about the video uploads too. Focus on your comic 😄
This was so helpful thank you! I always had trouble drawing certain angles and seeing how to use 3D models made it much easier!
I’m happy he explains that drawing on paper is a bit harder because unlike digital where you can just click back or quickly erase or even copy and paste you can’t do that on paper makes me happy
I'm almost positive I subscribed to him for his watercolour skills, I had no idea he drew bl.....not that I'm complaining😳😳
OMG I JUST FOUND YOUR CHANNEL YOU ARE SO SMOL AND CUTE AND I LOVE YOUR ACCENT
Man I never realized how useful the poses are, I’m trying to transition over from SAI (though I still need to set it up to match the S-# stabilizers from SAI cause that slow line function helps a lot) and it helps a lot to see how models can be used ... helps me feel more confident in working with odd angles and full bodies. Same with backgrounds and how you’d set them up cause backgrounds are still also a thing I need to learn. 😭
Thank you for the video!
As a fellow new comic artist/writer I do strictly traditional cause I'm poor and a sophomore in highschool :) but it gets easier as you go on my dude. I wish you luck on your comic bud
Woooow... I didn't know what I could to do with the Clip Studio!!! So useful, OMG. I don't know how to draw backgrounds, so that is soooo helpful, thank you so much
I’ve been into these comments for so long now and for the life of me can not find anything to do with the tree and grass brushes 😭 I really want them
Well problem is...
*I'm broke*
(Jk there are a lot of ways yo do it without money XD)
Clips Studio Paint regularly has sales with very low prices (I think I got mine for like 21$ in a summer sale)
Same i got mine this year for 25$
I wish I could get Clip Studio Paint on my iPad without having to pay a monthly subscription fee. I don't have my own laptop yet.
@@nenidetic I totally hate the Subscription scheme.
I'd rather buy the PC version and never worry about the running cost.
@@deadby15 Exactly. I'm so confused as to why it's different for the iPad app.
First time running on ur channel
You sound like davie405 the bassman
Wow this looks great for storyboarding if you need to figure out the relationship between the characters and layout! Definitely will try this out in the future!
Thank you so much! I'm planning to make a graphic novel starting Christmas!
