This is so Cool. I always wondered why Cranberries were always in the water. No more Wondering. Cool Job. Very Thankful for all the Farmers and Workers.
So cool! I guess the birds don't bother? So it makes it easy to harvest by putti g water I guess because they float then just just scoop it out, very interesting! One day my wish is to go to a farm and see and learn about farming
I learned something new over the last ten minutes...and now I’d like to learn more, if you could answer please :) How is the water not absorbed during the first step of the harvest and over the next day? Is the bog lined up with some sort of plastic before growing the cranberries?
Thanks for responding, Mossman :) And if you don’t mind, I have a couple more questions regarding an observation I made (over an underwater shot), and a question that came right behind my right ear as a small finger reached to my screen and asked “what kind truck” (startling me against my laptop and coffee enough to cause me a nasty looking bruise on my forearm and a change of blouse). His name is Lee, he’s around 4 years young who wandered to first class (where I was the only passenger on an 18 hour flight), while everyone else was asleep and said while pointing to the curtains behind “everyone there is SNORING...can I watch with you?” :) So, I noticed that the water remained clear during the first process involving the beater that loosened the cranberries from the vines, and on the second day involving the much larger machine that went through the bog. How? As for Lee’s question regarding “your truck” (and my clear water observation), are the machines used in harvesting cranberries equipped with special tires that do not disturb the soil soaked in water and creat a muddy harvest? (because I also noticed that no cranberries were crushed or stuck to the wheels during slow motion and closeups)...or the wheels follow a planned pattern of maybe some rocks blow? The floating ring gathering the cranberries while being extracted out of the water,...how is it put in place, how deep in the water is it, and how do you tighten the circle to gather all harvest closer to the vacuum and loading trucks? The vacuum of the harvest that sends it to 2 large loading trucks separating the waste from the cranberries that’s constantly sprayed with clean water before being deposited on the clean harvest truck,...where do you get the water from and where does it go after being used? (we couldn’t find a second step video by you, so we watched it on other harvest videos on UA-cam). If you could provide some answers I’d really appreciate it...especially since I promised a handsome boy that “I will find out” as we exchanged contact info before we parted AND shock pinkies on it. And I do take my promises VERY seriously. Thanks for your initial response (we probably missed it because we were watching other videos), and thanks anyway for your time on this one, and more so if you chose to entertain some answers! :)
@@annjulee500 The ground is pretty well covered with vines and if you keep from spinning the tires you don't disturb the sand underneath much. The water is all pumped from the beds. Screen filters keep debris out of the spray equipment. The bog boom as we call it. That bunches all the berries together floats on the water. You can buy them the depth you need. We usually just pull the bog boom with an atv to tighten it and pull the berries to the berry pump. I think I answered all your questions but let me know.
They are only harvested with water. They grow in the beds most of the time without being flooded but they are occasionally flooded for different reasons.
@Yaya Yoyo it's well water, a nearly limitless supply. Its not like they grow cranberries in a desert. Its water that came from rain that seeps back into the ground to be used again.
These will all be juice berries. That is why you can get away with beating them up like that. Fresh fruit berries are harvested totally different. This is how some do the fresh fruit. It is called dry harvesting. Our Dry Cranberry Harvest . We did it that way one year because we didn't have enough water.
Wow never knew that how you harvested cranberries, now all those juice commercials make sense. If you want to know how to harvest sugar beets then give my channel a peek, not advertising js. This was a really cool video and informative, thanks for sharing!
Most of the equipment for cranberry harvest is custom made. We might be willing to sell our beater tractor. The one with the reels that turns and knocks off the berries. Where are you located?

Goodvideo I like
If this fruits need to grow under water, am pretty sure that it consumes a lot of time and labour. Respect to the farmers!
Just harvested in water. They grow all year with just irrigation.
Great Video!

Beautiful awesome technique
Que lindo 😻
I freaking love the tv commercials super funny 😆
wow, That's very wonderful
Oh i never see it. Why berry in the water?
They are in water to harvest them. They float which makes it easy to get them out of the beds.
mossman381 amazing.. thanks for the info man..
@Yaya Yoyo Maybe it's hard when harvesting the food without water. They'll float if the foods is ripe
@Yaya Yoyo it's well water, a nearly limitless supply. Its not like they grow cranberries in a desert. Its water that came from rain that seeps back into the ground to be used again.
Wow so beautiful
Glad you enjoyed it.
I love you

Wow!!💖amazing
Very nice
Wow very nice
Wait, cranberry isn't hydrofit right?
U gave them a lot water to make it easier to harvest right?
Seas of Cranberry
Yes, they are only flooded for harvest and then in the winter to protect them.
I like this stravely
Where is the place?
Fantastic camera shots . Is the harvesting of the berries the same for fresh market as well as for juice ?

Why can it be hand pick?no idea hete
😍😍😍
Amasing.... grow underwater
They don't grow underwater. They are harvested using water.
Wonderfull
That’s cool !!!
Beautiful
Thanks
Would the tires of tractor crash the vines and kill them off?
Driving over them once doesn't hurt the vines.
thu Nguyen Same thought
question, aren't they rolling over the cranberry vines?
The vines can handle the machine going over them one time.

where we can buy that beater to harvest cranberry?
You want to buy our tractor that knocks the cranberries off?
@@mossman381 yes.we have 10 acres cranberry bogs.need beater.bog boom and all staffs.just want to know where buy them?
Most of the equipment for cranberry harvest is custom made. We might be willing to sell our beater tractor. The one with the reels that turns and knocks off the berries. Where are you located?
it will grow again or die
They grow again. It looks like we are being hard on them but they are ok. The vines can produce good for about 100 years or more.
And all this time I thought they were dumped in water, not grown in it.
Not grown in water just harvested using water. The beds are flooded during the year for various reasons but they are dry most of the time.
@@mossman381 Ahh, makes sense. Thanks for the reply.
Now i know why it's pricey 😯
