Summit videos I’ve watched make me excited for you guys For a number of reasons, not the least of which is the final hundred miles is so uniquely beautiful. Exciting times What did the Teddy Bear say after eating a colossal plate of pancakes? I’m stuffed!!!
Well, that's a milestone, crossing the Kennebec. Does someone just hang out there all day to take people across or do you put up a flag to signal the need for a ferry?
I saw the picture, but I didn't hear any loons, and I had my volume on the TV up to 70, very high. Nice effort though, I love loons. When you started talking with bluegrass in the restaurant. I turned the volume down to 40 and it was still loud. 😮
Early a"loon" wake up! LOL, does crossing the Kennebec, with the white blaze in the canoe equal walking on water? Thanks for sharing, keep going north, you're almost there.
Would you please give me the name of the person who wrote the article or book about showing gratitude to the trail each morning. I would love to read it. Thanks
Yes it is. It’s only about chest deep in normal flow, but it could get worse. A hiker did drown there a few years back, so they ferry across now. Thanks again for your help!
You will probably make AT history by being the only guy to walk miles and miles in the Maine Wilderness and never saw a moose! 😂 If you took that canoe south you would eventually run in to the Atlantic Ocean at Popham. There is an old fort there along the river that is really cool to explore. I believe it dates back to the civil war. It’s a massive stone fortification. Fort Popham is a Civil War-era coastal defense fortification at the mouth of the Kennebec River in Phippsburg, Maine. It is located in sight of the short-lived Popham Colony and, like the colony, named for George Popham, the colony's leader. The site is preserved as Fort Popham State Historic Site.[
Here's what I don't understand about the kennebec river. There's a schedule for when they let the dam out. It's not "anytime", and yet they tell people that. There are bridges over other rivers on the Appalachian Trail that are LONGER than a bridge would take to go over the kennebec river , and yet the ATC won't build one over the kennebec river?, why?! I think they like to watch people go over It in a canoe on videos. 🤔 The Sterling Inn looks beautiful! It's interesting. It's the first time I've seen it in a video, and I have watched videos for the last 5 years of people hiking the AT.
The Sterling is a great place. It would be a long expensive bridge. A hiker did drown crossing it several years ago , and they don’t want that to happen again.
Judging by how abruptly the video ended after you walked into the store they must not wanted you videoing in their store. Shame. I would've liked to see it.
Congratulations on the 6 month mark. That is a tremendous accomplishment in its own way.
Thanks Kirk!!!
The canoe ride is significant in that it marks all the hard work you’ve put in just to get there .
You are livin!
Yes we are!!!!!!
That was a breakfast!
Love the canoe leg. Bluegrass looked right at home in the bow.
Looks like a great place to spend the night.
Hike safe.
It was! Thanks
Iconic canoe ride. Can’t imagine what it feels like to experience these iconic sights in real life. So very excited for you guys!!
Thanks Randy
Canoe trip across looks awesome!! Katahdin is much closer in sight!!! Great video!!!
So close! Thanks
O so close!! Thank you for taking us along! Praying for great weather to the last step
Thank you. 🙏🏻
Now you just need a bicycle leg in there somewhere and hiking the AT becomes a triathlon!
Hahahahaha. I’m not sure about that one.
Thanks MR. Bandit, enjoying every moment, thanks a bunch, pretty fancy place, heading north
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for hanging with us
Big milestone crossing the river. Hope the wilderness is being good to you all 🎉
It has been. A little tougher than I expected.
Crazy like a loon ! Jhon prine. LOL 😅
Yeah. I think that describes me at times

I’m stuffed!!!
You definitely have a lot of them😂😂😂

There is a schedule from 9:00am to 2:00pm. The ATC pays him for his services.

Sorry about that. Sound is more difficult to predict than video

Hmmmmm. Not quite 😳
Would you please give me the name of the person who wrote the article or book about showing gratitude to the trail each morning. I would love to read it. Thanks
I wasn’t aware there was one. It’s just something that I do.
Just curious - how deep was the water? Is that the same place people used to ford the river?

Wow. Thanks for the info

Bridges wash out in floods.

Maybe instead of counting up the miles youve gone, maybe its time to count down.
He did say about 140 miles to go…
At some point we start counting both ways.

Some don’t, but it’s just me. When there are people in the store, I don’t like invading their privacy.
