Una de las mejores escenas de confrontación, nadie intenta gritar mas fuerte por encima de otro, cada uno tiene su momento, y su voz cantante creando un conjunto harmonioso. El espectacular trabajo vocal de Caballe desde un pianísimo reconciliador al inicio de la escena hasta potente "Figlia impura di Bolena" "Vil bastarda, dal tuo pie". Bravo!
No coincido. Deficiente pronunciacion. Por ejemplo, no se entiende que diga "il soglio inglese" y otras palabras. Es un farfullo con voz quebrada por momentos, algo corriente en la gran Monse.
@@juancarlosbalmas5702 You have raised a crucial issue: what is more important in the art of opera: the vocal musical line or dramatic function and words? I don't want to talk about Montserrat Caballe's pronunciation problems (there are few non-Italian singers who know how to sing well in Italian: Maria Callas' masterpiece in Macbeth where dramatic art and singing are united, is a pleasant exception). But I think that in Monserrat Caballe's art the melody, the sensations, her famous pianos always prevail, that's her Norma. For that faithfulness to the melody, to the musical line, we love and will love Gran Montserrat Caballe
I believe that Stuarda was one of Montserrat Caballe's best roles. She gives a beautifully sung, engaged performance here and seems to feel at ease and at one with the drama. Thank you for posting this.
I agree. Caballe had a lot of elements she never really trained into her voice. The trill, a mezzo forte voce that was not forced, acuti notes, a passaggi that was not spread on far too open vowels.. these were big problems... despite all of these annoying flaws she sailed by in a career that was glorious and she employed her big fat squally dramatic soprano in marvellous even lyrically surprising ways. This role was convincing and suited her extraordinarily developed piano singing and legato. Her Bb flat climaxes were a hit in this opera and really worked . Berini was awesome in this role and the tenor Giminez was really very enjoyable such a flexible clear high voice.

Finally this great Stuarda in good video quality, thanks! Singing-wise, probably the best Stuarda recorded on video. Pity the sound is not ideal - it's really strange Spanish television have never bothered to release this performance on DVD.

Just came across this, one of my favourite operas, by chance and very enjoyable it is! The confrontation scene between the two Queens (while not accurate historically since they never met) displays masterful singing from both. However, there are several issues in that scene that I have to point out: firstly, Mary Stuart was far too conscious of her royal position to prostrate herself before anyone, even a queen. In addition to that point, I would like to know how and where Mary Stuart would have had access to manicured and lacquered nails in the 16th century?!!! It wouldn't have happened even to a queen, let alone a queen imprisoned for some considerable time. Another note on appearance, Mary dressed according to French fashion whereas here, she looks more Spanish. What were the constumiers on this production thinking of?????? That being said, this is indeed a most enjoyable performance from a musical standpoint and my thanks for posting it!!
Ascolti e osservi la Berini e davvero ti sembra non più lei ma Elisabetta, secondo il racconto dell'Opera. Fa impressione un tale grado di immedesimazione.
