Roy Sakuma founded the world's first and original ukulele festival in 1971 at a time when there was very little interest in the ukulele. Today, there are ukulele festivals all over the world.

I’m so grateful for these two people right here🙌🏻. Mrs Cathy was the best teacher ever for the two year that I was her student which I was about 10 or 11 years old. After I stop taking classes I was able to teach myself throughout the years leading up to today and still continue to learn from myself because of what she taught me. I’m now 23yrs old and the ukulele is the best thing I’ve could’ve learned and I couldn’t have love playing the ukulele as much as I could possibly ever do now. I’m so appreciative and full of gratitude for there support and teachings of learning how to play the ukulele and I just want to thank them both from the bottom of my heart🙌🏻🤙🏻. Ukulele is a part of my everyday day life and it’s all because of the Sakuma’s❤️👏🏼.
