Im not in the Ag industry however i very much so wish i was. With that being said, i have a ton of interest in it because i have the upmost respect for our farmers and where our food comes from and keeping up on whats going on. This is a fantastic show for an outsider to keep up in current events in the ag industry. Love it !
Your advise to greenhorns is spot on. This could go for any trade or job in general. Show up, show initiative, be attentive, and ask for help before you screw the pooch. I haven't been watching your videos for very long, but damn you boys are quite a team. Keep up the great work, and if you ever want to talk about Mediation in Iowa, how its used, why its mandated in Iowa for ag loans, and how the process works give me a shout. Id be happy to chat with you boys.
I've been advocating for this for a few years. I've got a buddy who markets purely on Facebook to his friends and family. His waiting list keeps growing. He takes them to a local locker, and the folks pick it up from there. Simple, efficient, and he can control the price. His small operation is bringing in more net income than a lot of larger operations.
@Busy Bee Farms not when you dump artificial fertilizer. Glad they use manure but the rest. There is nothing great coming from commercial farming except bills being paid and some meat that’s pumped out every single day. Taking care of “Gods Creation” is letting it do it. Let the pig pig, the chicken chicken and fruits fruit. Working with nature, not blocking it off and throwing LED or fluorescent tubes over everything. I know 3 people who raise commercial broilers I’ve helped set them up and all. It’s not what you’d want your meat coming out of. Now a chicken tractor on pasture raised chicken is quality. That’s the difference. Quality. Not quantity. Modern farming is quantity. Not quality. “ You can’t push a string, you slowly pull it.” - Jole Salatin I’ve been doing Regenerative Ag for 3 years, going in 4. There is quality, honesty and love with what I produce. Not saying that these guys aren’t but the commercial industry is not it. I’m not meant to feed the world I’m meant to feed my community and if it just happens to spread to the next county and the next and the next and the next state… so be it. If I’m the only one in the middle of the commercial world. So be it.
so much your talk is over my head.. but I can't leave the video. I am learning all the time. Granny oregon.

In most occupations you learn by making mistakes and if you're new and not making some mistakes you're probably not doing much. Keep up the Great Work

Greenhorn create dad vocabulary. Learned this one from my dad early in life. I got a chuckle out of it!
I’m set up to farm like the 1800s if I have to. You only raise what you can feed. Salt pork and smoked meats.
This is literally the best pod on UA-cam
I'm am a homestead grower I put my first turkey on the table for Thanksgiving and it was the best tasting I have had in 38 years
