For as much of a classic the old show is, THIS version absolutely has a better villain. You completely get where Knives is coming from, even though you know he has to be stopped. Great tragic villain.
He's also a far more compelling threat in his own right, and much more driven. I also feel there's a bit more of a clear narrative connect between Knives and his agents in this. We see his influence through a prominent cult. We seen a direct line between Knives and the doctor. The doctor who made the enhanced agents.
compared to the original one this is literally like being waterboarded with lore. both versions are really good and worth to watch because theyre so different.
It's important to understand how cruicial Plants to human survival. It's not just "power plants". Plants has designations and produce all sorts of things, from water to metals and chemicals. When plants turn Red, their connection to source is weakend and without proper infrastructure to prevent this from happening, all humans can do is to forcefull pull whatever remains from the plant, killing it in the process. Leaving it be is no better, because in this state plant can't really produce anything and is actively dying.
Yeah, it's like butchering an old farm animal you had to put down. Their time is coming to a close, so you might as well not waste the meat. Except in this case, at least some of the Plants can think and feel on human levels. And the audience is working off of limited information, some of which might be from unreliable sources.
8:41 Just... imagine having never seen plants of the cellulose variety, having known only barren desert bereft of even cacti and scrub brush.... and then this. I don't think I CAN match Meryl's wonder here. This is basically unthinkable alien beauty to her. Speaking of alien perspectives... Zazi... Interesting entity/s there. Working with entirely different perspective and data from our intrepid reporters.
It's crazy that there are basically 3 vastly different versions of this series at this point that all offer their own stuff: Trigun the Manga - basically the most concise version of the story that both anime take from. Trigun 1998 - alot more comedic and energetic, loosely adapts the story but stops because it caught up to the manga, as it was still ongoing. Doesn't really get dark like the new anime until middle/end of the show. Has alot of charm but the world feels a little hollow sometimes. Trigun Stampede - super dark and more narrative focused, borrows alot more elements from the manga while still making it's own story. Vash's character is alot more complex and the world feels a bit more vast, it isn't a perfect adaptation but can definitely stand on it's own proudly.
Might be edgy but it kinda makes sense for now, remember: this is a younger version of the gang from og trigun, they are inexperienced against an unstoppable monster, the dark edgy vibe HAS to be there
@@loginlost_horizon6327 I didn't mean edgy like that, I just meant it's considerably darker than the previous anime which doesn't really get dark until the end
Vash heard one plant in distress from his cell. Knives couldn't hear all the plants screaming their last while he was playing piano in his apartment. Knives had to be told there was a problem by alarms and humans. Oh, and let's not forget the reason the plants were being overworked was Knives stranding all these humans on an inhospitable wasteland in a failed attempt at g cide. Vash has brought plants back from red and helped ease the operations strain on them. Knives snatches them up and keeps them on racks in a vertical warehouse. So I don't want to see any "Knives was right." We can understand his pain and acknowledge some of his points, but that doesn't make him right as a whole.
"yeah bro, our slavemasters, they said we don't live long if we free, so by keeping us slaves, they're helping us, although they just end up killing us, but you know the drill!" -Vash the stampede. 800 IQ.
@@mustafaqasimi1084 that still doesn't change the circumstances. Just saying oh "they are not humans so this exploitation is not really what it is" is a very weird logic. İt still doesn't change that they are humanoids being being used like light bulbs.
@shoujoru thats not what im saying and you know it. Im saying a human slave can go out and live its life once its freed but a plant cant, because it would die. Its a very rough situation and almost an example of an abusive symbiotic relationship, because without plants the humans would die, and without humans the plants would die
@@mustafaqasimi1084 I got you. honestly the thing about plant not being able to live by themselves seems a little BS to me because, Knives and Vash are prime examples or what plants are capable to do. The humans probably didn't explore it because why would they if they only want to use them as energy source, they wouldn't need them to have the ability to be autonomous.
If you three want a really good and deep show to watch, that is extremely criminally underrated, then I highly recommend Pantheon by AMC. Amazing show, a wild ride. Only 16 episodes.
//Spoilers i guess i dont remember if this info got dropped already, or im crazy I don't think it's bullshit necessarily that plants use up all their energy and die, they were likely designed that way, because humans made plants after all. I mean, kind of a faulty design because why would they die if left on their own otherwise??
I was thinking the Plants are that way because of the nature of the planet they crashlanded into...? Or perhaps Because of the nature of space travel in general. The plants were taken from their home planet or home dimension or wherever and now they need artificial sustenance which only humans can provide (sounds mighty convenient for the humans though).
did the humans make plants? cuz in the later eps its shown that plants have some consciousness and they're connected to "heaven" which is where the gate leads to. they may have experimented on plants to create vash and nai but idk if they created plants themselves? idk i think i need to go look up manga notes for this
cursory research revealed that you were right, plants were created by humans but its a lost tech. vash and nai were created by a plant on its own cuz apparently in the manga, plants can create a lot more things including vash and nai. someone compared the plants to real life plants with regards to how they need human care to live longer. i personally think that they were created faulty but not on purpose, humans are faulty themselves, similar to how no matter how advanced we are, our tech still has mistakes and one misplaced space or comma can break an entire code. i like that so much is left unanswered tho cuz it adds to the vash vs nai and morality themes.
@adisaster8734 I think I agree actually, humans created plants because they were desperate to find a resource to survive off of. They likely didn't ask or question anything more than that, because they got what they wanted. This info was from a trigun panel done by studio orange but they revealed humans got their plant DNA from a mummified alien corpse. We don't know if plants ever tried to communicate with humans to show "hey we're alive and we feel pain" or maybe vash and nai WERE an attempt by the plants to communicate. The speculations we get on open ended information are vast
@@adisaster8734 you're likely right tbh. this is info that came from a studio orange panel, idk if it would've ever come up in canon, but apparently humans found this mummified alien corpse and spliced that alien dna with other things to create the Plants that we see in the show. So humans were just messing around with something they didn't really understand, and didn't bother to understand much further because they were focused on survival. They made biological generators and didn't care to know anything more than that, whether they were truly sentient (but unable to communicate in a way that humans understand) or they felt pain.
Welp, its time to do a day to day request for Roshi and the gang to react to Dandadan even though its still not out yet, this is also an advance request, I am not making them watch the leaked one. Day 4 of asking for Roshi and the gang to react to Dandadan.

Agreed. It was disappointing how little we saw of Knives in the original it felt like Legato was the final boss
@@bthsr7113Definitely, in the manga it seemed like he was barely aware that The Eye of Michael even existed.
The slow drip of lore in this show is superb. You find out just enough at a time to keep it interesting.
