Charles, I think you are spot on with suggesting your viewers take a closer look at a teleconverter. I struggled with the TC issue about 4 years ago but figured out that reach was an important factor. There had to be a work around for just about every negative issue of adding a teleconverter. And just like you said, the WOW factor of being teleconverter closer out weighted any of the issues. I went the rental route first and quickly figured out what was best for me, not the influencer. I have moved from a 1.4 teleconverter with my 100-400 to one with my 200-800. Practice, editing software and number of pictures on the walls suggest there can be more positives than negatives for getting a teleconverter at least for my birds in flight photography. Thanks
Thank you for your feedback. I'm regretting the lost opportunity of not buying a TC more than a year ago when I was offered a Nikon 1.4TC III for only $200, which was a steal, as these cost around $800 new. But happy that I'm finally using one and the photos that I'm getting a great.
I held off for the same reason you mentioned. There were too many negative opinions online. However, I recently purchased a 1.4x for my sony lens and was happy to create images with nice creamy bokeh even at f/8. I just used the same principle for any telephoto shot, being as close to the subject as possible and ensuring there is more distance from subject to the background. I will be selective in the use of the tele, but now have options and don't have to carry a longer lens. No regrets.
Great video Charles! You are right, it is so easy to get influenced by all the negative gear reviews and comments. I'm glad that you are happy with the TC!
Great video Charles I too have been influenced by watching too much content swaying your mind one way and back but your video had a very positive message cheers
I use the Z8 with the 180-600mm for bird photography. Sometimes wthout the 1.4 TC and sometimes with the the TC. I shoot RAW and my experience is the same as yours. The 1.4 TC gets used on the other two lenses, the 100-400 and the 70-200 2.8 if needed.
Charles -- I also have the same setup and works great --- now looking into the Z50II with with new features like XSpeed 7 processor and super auto focus with bird detection and more - looks like a nice crop camera ---- anyway keep up the great work - really like your videos
My solution to having a TC 1.4, was to set my D7500 fn2 button to image area size. With a press of the function button with my little pinkie, and one click of the command wheel the sensor image area crops to a 18 x 12 image size equal to a 1.3x extension. Yes it yields a smaller resolution, but after a day of photographing local sports and going through several hundred images, I can't pick any difference in quality and most chosen images get cropped to some degree anyway. I don't loose a stop of light and AF/iso are not impacted.
Thanks for sharing your solution! I agree, and i you watch the video at ua-cam.com/video/0p5Nr4pNibk/v-deo.htmlsi=k1FLwbszjp-06Fhd&t=317. You'll see that I mention this and why I wanted a TC 1.4.
Nice video. Went through the same angst before purchasing my extender. Then had problems as my camera focus didn't work at f8. Upgraded camera to mirrorless ( Canon system) and the extender hasn't left the camera since. Think your Red-capped Plover is a Black-fronted Dotterel .
I always watch YT photography videos with a heavy pinch of salt...their situation is never the situation as I am in doing my photography! Our goals of photography are different! I have been using 1.4TC on my 150-600mm and it does not come off!😂

Hello, very good video, I bought the z6lll and I have the Nikon tele 200-500. At one time I thought about buying a tele converter but the same thing happened to me thinking that I would lose quality, and I see that it gives a great result, I make the jump to the nikon d810 to the nikon z6lll, I hope you can translate the language Thank you! Thank you, I've very happy with the photos taken with the Nikon 1.4TC
Thanks for this video Charles, I brought a Sigma TC 1401 x1.4 for my Sigma 150-600mm lens but ended up with the said converter does not work :( camera bodies are Canon 50D/40D/30D and 20D, still that's life mate, great video and info.
is there any difference of 1,4 TC II and 1.4TC III and handling of camera with three coupling using F lenses via FTZ. I have a 500 PF but your video has made me re examine the situation. Thanks for the video.
The Nikon TC1.4II and the Nikon TC1.4III work perfectly with the Z6II. Do not by any third-party adapter as they will not work. Been there, done that. These two TC's work perfectly with the FTZ Adapter. Remember that I'm talking about using these TC's with a Nikon F-Mount Lens that is supported. You cannot use the Nikon Z1.4TC with the Nikon 28-400mm

Good to hear it's working out well for you!
Great video Charles! You are right, it is so easy to get influenced by all the negative gear reviews and comments. I'm glad that you are happy with the TC!
Thank you, and you're right, sometimes we let others influence our decisions
Thanks for this. I was thinking about adding to the gear soon.
Any time! Glad that this video was of help to you 😉
I’ve been in the same boat over a TC. Been looking at a Sigma 1.4 TC for my Sigma 100-400 with my Canon 90D. I will just have to give it a go.
Let me know how you go, has I'm interested to know 😉
@ I will. But it will be in the new year.
Great video Charles I too have been influenced by watching too much content swaying your mind one way and back but your video had a very positive message cheers
Great to hear! Yes sometimes we can be lead down the garden path, but I'm glad that I made the decision to buy a 1.4TC and don't regret it.
Great video! Brightened my day, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!😉

Yes, the Z-TC is such a good piece of gear to help you reach further.

Thanks for sharing, I am also looking at the Z50II, but I'm hoping to save enough for the Z6III

❤the video as always Nice Tip Did you use the teleconvter with z6ii?
Yes I did as the Nikon Z6II is my only camera at the moment

Think your Red-capped Plover is a Black-fronted Dotterel .
Thanks for sharing, yes, I made a mistake but it was to late to fix it. I think the only times I'm not going to use the 1.4TC is in low light.

Well said! And thanks for sharing 😁
My camera 30 years back
90 mm, 28mm, and 2x glass shooting slide film great results
That’s amazing! The quality of slide film was really something else!
@ yes think my lab routinely pushed slide film. New camera good
But $280 so expect no low light master
Ok as shooting all daylight

Those are rather old bodies.
That's a shame, maybe there's a compatibility issue with your cameras 😰

I tested both the 1.4TCii and the 1.4TCiii and didn't find any difference in image sharpness. The TC works fine with the ftz
@@CharlesNPhotography Thanks
What teleconverter works with Nikon Z6ii
Do it fit Z
As well 28-400 mm lens
