    I joined the club! I got mine earlier this week... and it... is... AWESOME! Runs a little on the small side, unfortunately. For my medium to large sized American face, it just barely goes under my chin when adjusted to the largest size - but it is still the best mask I have ever worn, and it is easy to forget that you’re wearing a mask when you have it one. Great breathing!

    • @maggielim34
      @maggielim34 4 роки тому

      @BOSSMusic it ultimately depends on what setting.
      If you want the most power stick with the low setting which gives you 5.5 hours of fresh air.
      The medium setting is 3-4 hours and the highest setting will only give you 2 hours or 2.5 charge.
      The only downfall is that once it dies, this mask is deemed useless cause there will be a low probability of your droplets escaping

      @@lejend69 it is equivalent to about 180 dollars. The advantage is the electric fan and filter that can last for 1 week to 3 weeks depending on the situation. It would be great if you are a healthcare professional or in a hotspot for the recent virus. If you are a physician dealing in a hotspot and need PPE, i would suggest the cleanspace halo. Look also at the price of replacement filters which is 25 dollars for a pack of 5 filters. Weigh in the cost effectiveness for your personal need. There are cheaper ones.

      @@ruixel I am still waiting for my order and will probably arrive within this week. I plan to use it in my out-patient medical clinic. The outer cloth is washable from what i know but will let you know when the prodecut arrives. If you work in the hospital and need very good PPE due to hotspot, look into cleanspace halo which is alot better but more expensive...ALOT MORE EXPENSIVE. Cleanspace would probably help in ICU setting if you are a physician or nurse. I will let you know how it is when it comes.

    curious if this passes the lighter test. A LOT of the vent style masks just release your exhaust breath directly out the port w/o filtering it. Which would make this mask useless for any type of covid protection.

    • @maggielim34
      @maggielim34 4 роки тому

      @Xandra J I think it would, ive been using it for two
      Weeks. The difference is that the fan slot for the air is on the bottom of the fan so it’s shoots directly down. Plus there’s a N95 valve underneath. Traps particles before it hits your face. So it’s protecting you and other people around you

    • @roywilkie9577
      @roywilkie9577 4 роки тому +2

      @@maggielim34 if it pushes air in, it pushes air out. of course it would 'fail' the lighter test. the lighter test isn't a real test at all, though, because it doesn't matter if the exhaust air is moving if it's been filtered.

    • @maggielim34
      @maggielim34 4 роки тому +1

      @Roy Wilkie you’re probably right this might fail the lighter test but no one knows unless someone runs the test on this particular mask. From observation, the slit on the bottom of the fan is titled towards you.
      To clarify, in order for your droplets to escape it has to pass through the N95 filter, then the turbo fan and then hit the plastic metal casing that houses the fan and finally shooting out towards your neck/ground. I’m not doubting that some of my CO2 is escaping but either way this still provides more protection against others when it comes to a valve mask.
      Clearly this would protect you more than others but those suffering with asthma or other breathing problems this should be used. Plus you could always stick a regular cloth mask on top. I tried that a couple of times and I can’t tell the difference. Seems like I’m still getting more airflow shooting at my face no matter what

  • @3dfuzz

    I want to order it but I believe the mask sucking the Air OUT instead of IN.. please correct me if am wrong because In the Vid you explained it the other way around ... I have been searching for someone used this mask .. what I need to know is how sealed is the mask because a fan that just sucks the air out of the mask is actually can suck in particles from the edges of it's not sealed .. I wonder how heavy is the mask with the Fan ?

    • @maggielim34
      @maggielim34 4 роки тому +1

      @Omran Alsayed To answer your question... the seal is tight and the air isn’t escaping through the sides.
      The fan itself itself when turned on is blowing air into the mask but also doing its job of pushing air out down towards the ground.
      If you heard correctly the N95 filter is what protects you and stops any particles coming in.
      This mask is heavier than the standard mask but the question is would you compromise your breathing over that minor issue?
      I had this for a couple of days now and it’s great for people with breathing and asthma problems.

    • @maggielim34
      @maggielim34 4 роки тому

      @dave morrison depends on what setting. You can get away with over five hours on the lowest setting. Medium will get you 3-4 hours and the highest will be 2 hours.
      Also just wanted to note that the fan must always be kept in order to prevent the low probability of the spreading of droplets to others since the fan eliminates your CO2.
      Charging in total takes 4 hours or when the light stops blinking

    • @petermunoz-bennett386
      @petermunoz-bennett386 4 роки тому +1

      Maggie Lim I got mine this week, and I love it, but every time I plug it in to charge, it never stops blinking. I heard that I shouldn’t overcharge it, but today it didn’t stop blinking even after 2 hours charging, and it died after an hour and fifteen minutes workout (it was dead before I did the two hours of charging). Will try charging for four hours like you suggest, and see if that does better. I do love the mask otherwise - but that’s a long time to charge if it lasts shorter than the charging time.

      @Kim Lee I’ve heard, I would suggest putting a surgical mask on top of it.
      Plus if you want to get technical about it, it should be fine but again the fan must be always on and never off. Theres a lower probability that your droplets might come out but then again it might be harder due to your droplets passing to the filter, plastic compartment and fan
      I’ve really wish I had a cited study to back up my points but no one seems to know about these masks with fans
      Also I’ve tried out a couple of other diy options that still includes the fan and it works wonders

    • @maggielim34
      @maggielim34 4 роки тому +1

      @Peter Munoz-Bennett depending on how creative you are. Here’s a few that worked out best for me especially on hot days where there’s semi warm air flowing into the mask
      1) took out the outer mesh shell and replaced it with a cloth mask with the filter and fan still intact
      2) used a paper surgical mask and taped it on top of the cloth mask to cover the whole thing up leaving the bottom of the mask to ensure the fan doesn’t burn up
      Also i tried this and freaked out cause the fan got super hot where I heard squeaking sounds when taping something over the slit on the bottom. Dont try that cause you can break the whole entire mask.
      You can basically redesign the whole entire mask since the fan is literally the core part.

    So it is sucking air from outside or through the entire filter layers?. It looks actual filtration area is only where tiny fan is fixed. May be the fan will help virus to pass the filter easily. Fan area filter should be HEPA type

    • @SlowMotion214
      @SlowMotion214 4 роки тому +1

      There is a valve on the filter that only lets out the exhaled air. When you inhale that valve is closed so nothing comes in through it. So you're only breathing in air through the filter. The fan is only taking air out to keep the interior of the mask cool and free of condensation and it works very well if I do say so myself.

      you will be breathing through the n95 filter too. What the fan and the small filter in it does is provide more fresh air inside the mask so you have less condensation and heat. This provides more comfort. But no extra protection than your standard n95 disposable mask( well maybe a little more because construction is much better)

    • @joequis6173
      @joequis6173 4 роки тому

      @@rage8kage Yes..you are right about that it is more about the comfort. But according to their site, filter changes depends on the situation. So the price of the filter should also be considered. The cost-effectiveness of buying this product. It says that if you have a high VIRAL risk....the mask should be changed every 4 hours..which, in terms of price, will be expensive compared to a regular n95 mask. The product boasts that you can use the mask for 1 to 3 weeks..again depending on air quality. So...if you are not in a very bad coronavirus spot maybe you can consider this product for allergies or recurrent asthma due to environmental exposure.

      Yup! haven’t reached 3 months so based on having it for a little over a month it’s like as I first bought it. At times I do have to adjust the straps on the side.
      I’ve been noticing for another reseller such as problabs they’ve gotten a lot of details and facts wrong.
      Comparing this to the Alexis the amount of air is a lot lower so for the Philips fresh air mask it gives off 41/L on the highest setting so for the fan it doesn’t move as fast. Same thing for the battery., it dies faster.
      I haven’t had the Alexis mask but I know
      from the other reviews is that there’s no slit on the Alexis so all the air stays inside the mask.
      For the Philips, I guess you can have a surgical mask to prevent the air from coming out from the outside

      I want to add to Maggie Lim’s review: I find her review to be spot on. (Funny how this mask is developing its own fan club) - I made one of the last orders the day before it went out of stock (and has stayed out of stock since). I was worried mine wouldn’t arrive and contacted Shopmask, and they explained that there was a Covid outbreak near the factory where these are produced, so that slowed down production. I’m contemplating getting another one, so I have been watching every day to see when they go back in stock.
      My one thing to add to Maggie’s review: this is made for smaller faces. I think the thousands of face profiles they did were based off smaller non-American sized faces. I am an athletic man 6’ in height, and I am able to put the adjustable strap to the largest size and the mask will cover my face, but it doesn’t quite go below my chin. If I move it below my chin, the the top of the mask is below the bridge of my nose, and nose pinch to keep it in place doesn’t quite work. I would say this mask was a 10 out of 10 if it had just an inch of more “height” in the fabric as well as that much more height in the N95 filter. If you put this side by side with the average mask sold in the US, you’ll see that it is a bit “shorter”. So I would say this mask is a 10 out of 10 for anyone whose face it fits perfectly, but for me it is a 9 out of 10. I still love it beyond all other masks I have tried, though. I did my first workout in it today: like Maggie said, you feel the hot exhaled air a moment before it disperses by the fan, but if I am wearing the mask and I am not working out, I don’t feel my exhaled air at all. Despite being slightly too short for my face, I STILL love this mask a lot and highly recommend it.

    • @petermunoz-bennett386
      @petermunoz-bennett386 4 роки тому

      Oh, and the mask also took exactly two weeks to arrive, even though the company contacted me and told me there was a slight delay with my order due to a covid outbreak near the factory that produces the masks. The order STILL made it to me in two weeks (which was the expected time), so kudos and congrats to the company and people at shopmask for getting it to me on time even though they were having supply difficulties.

      @@diogoeskate3075 Hello hello..just got it a couple of days ago Yes, fan is an extractor. It takes 4 hours to fully charge from dead battery (light stops blinking). I used it on medium setting and it was drained in about 3.5 hours. For the price, i am kinda disappointed on it. BUT it is easy to set up and the mask is an n95. The low fan setting (which lasts 5.5 hours) is okay to help suck in air through the mask. I thought there was a filter in the extractor part of the white mask, but none. I was asked... what if the person using this has covid, can the person spread the infection...and the answer, for me, is yes. When you exhale, the air from your lungs go out through the extractor that has no filter. WHEN THE FAN TURNS OFF AND YOU INHALE, AIR WILL ALSO GO IN THROUGH THE FAN EXTRACTOR AND UNFILTERED AIR WILL ENTER. I can see into the mask from the under part of the extractor. You should have a back-up mask just in case the battery dies out and fan doesn't work. So....i am disappointed with the price for what i got. Think twice about buying this for the price. It makes inhaling less difficult when using an n95 BUT always be sure the fan is running.

This mask does fit me at it’s maximum size adjustment, but it barely gets under my chin, and doesn’t quite sit on the bridge of my nose - sits a little bit low. It can still give a good N95 seal even if it doesn’t go under your chin, though, and I think it is still very very worth it! A very large face probably won’t fit into this mask, though.

    Yuck, this is still a valved mask. I was really hoping it would have a second fan that blew in the opposite direction, through the filter media, to expel exhalations, similar to a larger PAPR device. This is not pandemic-safe. It's yet another "selfish" mask and I'll bet that an asymptomatic superspreader will probably be jetting viral particles extremely far into the environment with this design. I'll stick with my idMASK 2.0 with its superior silicone gasket fit, proper head straps (no damn ear loops!), modular design for easy cleaning, and much cheaper replacement filter media. The filter has a large enough surface area that breathing through it isn't laborious. And, hey, it's actually still available at a not insane price at their website. PM me for the URL or just Google it yourself.

      First off theres needs to be a study on this specific mask in order to obtain any sort of evidence. Honestly no mask is a 100% leakage proof. For instance the regular surgical mask can still infect others as there’s gaps on the sides. Same like bandanas
      I doubt you own this but the slit is titled on the bottom of the mask and they claim that whatever particles attempts to come out is absorbed into the material.
      In order for the particles to come out it has to bypass the n95 filter->through the spinning turbine-> mental encasing->another plastic thingy in order to escape.
      Remember this mask gives out 41L of air so I’m not sure how much of your C02 is escaping as some claim that it gets eliminated due to how fast it spins
      This mask is honestly made for asthma users. Besides that if your that worried about it not protecting others just wear another mask on top to prevent the possible droplets

      @petermunoz-bennett386 4 роки тому +2

      Barista MD it sucks the CO2 out of the mask. It does FEEL like it is blowing air on your face, though. Took me a while to figure out the physics of this, but basically due to pressure I “think” it is sucking air through the N95 filter and assisting your breathing, so it ends up being very easy to breath, and if you’re not exercising, you don’t feel your warm exhaled air at all because that leaves the mask right away. The fan direction is clearing blowing CO2 out, though. It blows it out downward onto your own neck, and if you put your hand close to the mask, you can feel the air pushing out.

      I ordered the Beeasy/Alexis/Resmr Electric Air mask so I'll probably be receiving that in a few weeks. I also intend to get the Xiaomi Purely mask from shopmask.com so I can try out them all against one another.

    Goodluck that fan will suck the air outside, jf the air is contaminated with covid-19 it will put ot on your nose directly

      @NGMonocrom there’s an 95 filter valve underneath the fan. Smh🤦‍♀️. I had one for awhile and it’s better than any mask on the market in terms of protecting you and other people around you

      The lowest mode will last the longest. 5.5 in total. The only way to solve this is to buy a second mask.

    They don’t even label the box. I mean if you ignore these stickers on two sides clearly saying what it is. But otherwise, yep no labeling of what’s inside. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Great product and nice to have it reviewd!
    Just to clarify. Did you buy and get it shipped by breaking the regulations? Or did you got that as a gift? You said two different things.

    Thats pricey for just a mask made of nylon, the fan is probably a $10 item. I think the company is marketing the COVID-19. Cant see how it would cost $150

      Nah in China the air is just nasty so they wear masks daily even before they released Covid to draw attention away from Hong Kong

    Here's my question. The air being pulled into the mask through the fan is outside air, right? So if your near a person and they sneeze or cough what is there to stop the fan from pulling those germs into the fan? I get there's a filter blah blah blah but still, isn't it still like playing roulette?

    • @SlowMotion214
      @SlowMotion214 4 роки тому +2

      No, the fan does not pull any air into the mask. There is a valve on the filter that goes between the filter and the fan. The valve is closed while the fan is off. When you turn the fan on the valve opens at the bottom very slightly; just enough to let air out. When you inhale the valve is pulled closed thus the only air getting in is coming through the filter.

    I was ready to buy one and watched multiple youtube videos on this including this one. However, I don't think it forms a tight seal around the face (very important) which kind of makes it useless and definitely not worth that price. It's like driving a luxury car in the rain with the sunroof slightly open...

      i don't think a tight seal is going to make all that big of a difference...how about being able to breathe in it? I think thats more important...i have yet to wear any sort of mask for that very reason...I always feel like i'm smothering..I need to be able to breathe near normal.

      yeah right, Philips engineers would totally make something that doesn't work and comes with a N95 label in it. The seal is perfect when I use it, but hurts a bit behind the ears if you make too tight

      @Moody Mo lol I love it when misinformed people think they know how a product works without owning one🤷🏻‍♀️ hmm bashing something from a couple of reviews?

      This mask gives a tight seal. It’s like driving a luxury car. Period. With the sunroof open on sunny days, and sealed perfectly shut on rainy days. Look at how many people in the comment section love this mask. No one who actually owns one is complaining. All happy.
