Have had the Easee 1 charger for over 2 years and have had no problems, touch wood. It has worked well. If your home is also your registered work place you can get a grant approximately £300.
One thing i found out from an Ohme user yesterday is that there is no simple timer function, eg you can't just say set up a schedule to charge between 11pm and 5am,but instead you have to set a schedule up with times and cost of electricity and then tell it max cost of electricity to charge at. Is this correct?
Looking at getting an ohm charger but found that you can only charge one model of car if you want to charge another model you have to Delete the existing model and setup the model to charge ?
Very similar. Had a Shell Recharge dumb charge point and got Octopus to replace it with an Ohme Pro - two week lead time & and 1-2 hours to install. They did replace the original cable and fuse box thing. Now happily on IOG tariff, which, as I have a home battery, means house and car run 98% on 7p / kWh - occasional hour on 0p / kWh!
Ive gone through this process with Ohme to replace an existing charger and was frustrated they wanted to quote for a completely new installation, even though there’s a perfectly serviceable cable already installed. They said this was due to warranty cover. Frustrating as it seems a waste of resources.
My installer checked the existing installation to make sure everything was up to spec (he said that they're not always but mine was) and then got on with the job.
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru yes, but at the start you said they’d offered it for free so there were no cost consequences. Sorry Jim, but for once I have to disagree with you. The products OK till you have a problem. I found their customer service useless when I had a problem with the device not communicating via the fitted SIM. Not answering emails for days or worse. Evasive and defensive in answering questions, and the final straw was when in not getting any response/help to my requests to return the device for a repair, I tried swapping out the supplied SIM card with my own SIM to see if it was a service network provider issue. They promptly informed me that I had now voided my warranty!! Can you imagine voiding your mobile phone warranty if you swapped out the SIM. Every company is good until you have a problem, then you find out what they're really like. This is a terrible company in my experience. I threw their product away and got a Zappi charger from Myenergi instead.
Hi Jim .. I have the Ohme pro charger and on the Octopus intelligent go tariff .. it’s brilliant and loads of information on the app you can check . it shows your usage every 30 mins. Plus I have an air source heat pump and you get six hours cheap rate every night for the whole house so my heating etc.is all at 7p/kw for those six hours. I did change the socket that the charger plug fits when not in use for one that swivel so you can fold it back so it doesn’t stick straight out from the wall.
We have an Ohme Pro which has worked faultlessly. However the changing of their app to allow dynamic charging only is not suited for those who have battery storage as the charger will start charging 'Dynamically' when you plug the car in what ever time of day when their is surplus power in the grid. All EV charging will be charge at the night time tariff. It is mopping up free unallocated power. Great you might think. If you have battery storage and don't charge in your low rate night time hours, the power will first be taken from your battery storage system. Ours pulls 5kW from the batteries before getting the other 2.4 kW from the grid. Ohme told me you can't used customer timed charging as this has been removed by Octopus. Whilst raiding your battery for car charging, outside low rate hours, you are most likely to be paying high rates for the power you use in the house rather than being able to take the power from your battery storage system. They suggested setting the inverter to not allow power to be taken from the batteries whilst the car is charging. Nice idea except the batteries then won't power the house and you will pay high prices for the power you use. It would also be a great deal of hassle to reset the inverter to the figures they send to you on the app every time you charge the car. On this basis if I was buying a new charger I would definitely not buy a Ohme product.
Looks like the engineer did a quick job for you. Are you really happy with the position of the holder for the hand unit. Having the big loop out from the wall would not work for me. There must have been a way to fix the bracket that would keep the cable closer to the wall.?

I was looking at replacing my existing charge point, but not willing to pay such a high premium when the bare unit can be bought (without any discounts either) for £550 inc vat. I have an Ohme ePod and not liking it, preferred my old Easee which was simple plug and charge with a lock for my cable. Had to buy a locking cable hanger for the Ohme. Ohme let me down a few times stopping charging after 3 to 9 minutes, once last May at a time I had to collect my daughter who had taken ill on holiday and had been deplaned to medical care. That was a sh*t show. Mostly use the granny charger in garage now. Ohme have updated the app and it is easier to use but I just cannot trust it.
My son has just been through all this with octopus/ ohme the installers ignored all the info turned up, a day early sharp intake of breath, no it can’t go there mate you have to run a duct for us we’ll be back in 3 weeks. .?? Useless
I really dont get the complexity with these and the trouble people have to charge multiple cars with IO. Ive got a wallbox and 5 EV's and they all work exactly the same when plugged in. My other is a Zappi which is just set for the fixed off peak times but if I was to set that one up, it would work in the same way. Personally I never picked the home because it doesn't work with wi-fi and no one seems to know what will eventually happen with the 4G system that it uses and I certainly would not want to pay a subscription (yet another). To be fair Im glad I didn't as it seems like its allot of hassle.

I’d like the pulsar pro load share dual charger
👌
Why use a junction box. I think it looks a bit of a mess! Why not put the box directly on the cable without a junction box? That's the way your previous charger was fitted and in my opinion looks much neater.
No idea to be honest but don't worry too much about it; it's on my house and I couldn't give even a fraction of a single toss.
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru Haha... Fair enough. No way my wife would have that... :)
Mine puts up with me so a box on the wall is the least of her worries.
@@peterfinkill8098my missus wouldn't even let me have it installed in our similar porch 🤦
@@DavidJohnston58 Yeah. It's a 'messy' install. Not neat at all. Not something that I would accept never mind my missus! 😅
😊
👍👍
Sorry but it has to be said.... "You've got a Ohme to go to!".... Dreadful pun! 😅
👏Good effort Mike but probably safer to leave the Dad jokes to me 😂
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru I will give you that.... I'm a bit rusty.
Sorry to hear that, I’m well happy with mine so far.
My son has just been through all this with octopus/ ohme the installers ignored all the info turned up, a day early sharp intake of breath, no it can’t go there mate you have to run a duct for us we’ll be back in 3 weeks. .?? Useless
👌
I really dont get the complexity with these and the trouble people have to charge multiple cars with IO. Ive got a wallbox and 5 EV's and they all work exactly the same when plugged in. My other is a Zappi which is just set for the fixed off peak times but if I was to set that one up, it would work in the same way.
Personally I never picked the home because it doesn't work with wi-fi and no one seems to know what will eventually happen with the 4G system that it uses and I certainly would not want to pay a subscription (yet another). To be fair Im glad I didn't as it seems like its allot of hassle.
