I’m new to ice maintenance as I just got hired by my local ice rink. This has helped explain a lot especially since they are planning on a more involved maintenance routine to help make our rinks more even.
Edging the rink and doing passing around the outside. Check out my 3,2,1s video. That should help. Sorry for the late reply. I don't always get notifications for comments.

I edge often!! I highly recommend doing so to any like-minded person, it is pleasurable and is great for general upkeep!
+rep I do also lol good for the soul
I have a mechanical edger myself but have found better results by hand, would love to know if anyone else shares this experience!
Yes daily edging is defiantly recommended. Especially in the corners. Thanks for the comment.
Ice maintenance is therapy!
My local rink has the opposite problem - the ice near the boards is LOWER than the rest of the surface. What are they doing wrong?
How do you remove high ridges about a foot off the boards?

Has anyone ever tried to convert an old lawn mower into an edger? Asking for a bunch of outdoor rink friends 😅
