I think its for certain features like dp you cant get gible or access the hidden cave until mid to late game where as in platinum you have access to route 206 rt after gardena and you can evolve sneasle alot earlier they did to emerald too if im not mistaken you cant get zangoose/roselia but you do get couple extra features

Poison type is overpowered tbh. Poison spikes with venoshock buff of being poisoned kills pretty much everything
I mean that's often just a worse strategy than using any setup move. You can only do it once and it doesn't make you any faster. The Toxic spike damage is nice but you can just one shot the ai after 1-2 of any mon with a spa atk or atk and speed boosting move if you want a easy win. You can also use coverage with the setup so you don't have to deal with poison resists or immunities. In PVP stealth rocks and spikes are also a lot better than toxic spikes since they affect more mons and can't be auto-cleared by an enemy poison type.
