I wish they're wasn't so many negative critiques about the art that is "questionable", or the curators who have worked long and hard to at least give us these wonderful buildings and the pieces of art that we are lucky enough to see right before us. When I see the beauty, the uniqueness, the sorrow, the tragedy, and yes, even the unexplainable, that is housed inside this magnificent building it only makes me want to cry in awe at what art can make us feel and what a gift it is from God. I feel nothing but inspired and grateful.
At the premier of Stravinski's Rite of Spring ballet in Paris, fistfights broke out in the audience. The general public was unprepared for the shift in consciousness artistic giants like Stravinski, Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh and many more greats demanded. The public fought, revolted, struggled, banged their heads against the wall and eventually, over time....they even understood!
Iam abstract painter in germany But i love the painting of new york Museum.i wish i will be invited In new york my painting is alive My instuition the Angel self forming And what the people need this time Thank you for supporting the abdteact Painter God bless
My first visit was December, 1979. I returned in October 1987 after relocating to NYC. I returned frequently over the years though I moved on living in other parts of the world.
Let’s not exaggerate. I saw his “Gardener” at the National Gallery in Rome; It was beautiful, but there are countless other artists as beautiful. However, you can be obsessed with his work, if it “speaks” to you.
Every time I come to New York I visit this fabulous Museum and take pictures, I have the honor to send them to the official group on Flickr and 33 has been accepted.
I visited MoMA in January 2020 to see the new expansion. The volume of the soaring spaces are artworks unto themselves. On my previous visit, some years ago, a video installation by Pipilotti Rist filled the vast atrium. It was magical and ephemeral: One wanted to be wherever that imagery was filmed.
Compmaturism sometimes explores that part of beauty which is covered in routine, craftsmanship, and speculation. Therefore, the eyes of many collectors are turned to the Compmaturism of the new trend in order to experience something truly.
MOMA paid $100. million for the painting at 4:22. Nobody looks at it. They just past it by to get to "Starry Night". I was within 6 inches of "Starry Night" to look at it. It looks like he painted it with colored paste. If you were to cut the picture in half, the paint is about a half an inch thick.
A few words about Compmaturism. Today you can still get a few or a dozen good works by Compmaturists. In a few years it will be impossible, Some collectors already have 50 works of Compmaturism. The main destinations are Dubai, Hong Kong and London
There are only a few people who can understand art. And I'm lucky to be one of them. Open minded, and try to think, there are much more than just 'splatters' on the wall. :) Sorry, I'm an art hoe and I'm loving it.
Step #1 : Get some proper lighting inside a room filled with painted walls and a chair. Step #2 : Get someone to sit in the chair. Step #3 : Film that person saying stuff calmly, Don't forget to use a close-up. Pretend to know what the person is talking about and believe/accept what's coming out his/her mouth.
There are some questionable artworks there, but how they got in depends on the board who decide what artworks are "significant enough" to be displayed in the same space occupied by giants such as Matisse and Warhol. These judges are trusted professionals and their lives and reputations depend on it. Ooooohhh, that's a lot of pressure. or maybe there is no pressure at all. They just get together, drink and pick among the countless artists/applicants/recommendations. Whew, no pressure at all! When I see some of the new art in MoMa, they are all equally great, unique in the their own way. So how do we decide which art is better than the other one? Forget about the artist's background or connection, or the popularity, I am referring only to the visual appeal. Did Andy Warhol changed how we see art? Because anything can be art, even a q-tip swab.

"Who Gets to Call it Art" is a great documentary about the beginnings of the modern artists movement in NYC, with great vintage film of NY and the struggling artists who would be shocked at the value of their art today.
Is it possible to find an exhibit from 1980 at the Metropolitan museum of art ? I am looking for the Artist who made ' Shadow Boxes of Daily American life '
@Ozzrya91 When I say all modern art I don't mean it chronologically. I thing H.R.Giger and possibly Dali respect the classical traditions to a great extent even though they lived after the 1940's debacle. It's about doing the work and not just doing some shit and talking a lot about it.
gold Marilyn a Painting? Same gold background as iconography?I suppose so in a very loose sense. I like a good bit of similar- but also keep in mind that if it could be done with little to no practice it is very similar to craft rather then fine art.
@sandysandstorm I don't know, I guess art is whatever, I obviously wasn't in a very artful mood the day I made that post. I really don't like a lot of modern art, but you know the old saying about beauty being in the eye of the beholder.

I cannot think of a greater artist than Van Gogh; when I see his paintings, I want to live.
have you seen any of Jean-Leon Geromes work?
@@eddiebernays514 Nah, I would not hang his painting in my place. Not all paintings talk to me like Van Gogh's.
He loved his works in such a way he went mad.
Let’s not exaggerate. I saw his “Gardener” at the National Gallery in Rome; It was beautiful, but there are countless other artists as beautiful. However, you can be obsessed with his work, if it “speaks” to you.
That makes two of us...

“Dickie” Westcott, the great new find forthcoming.
The meaning of the obelisk is that foundation has been shifted, meaning now unpragmatic, yet it still stands, and is thus the purest art.

There is a reason why Van Gogh sold only one painting in his lifetime.
GOOD ONE. SOME OF HIS STUFF STINKS, LIKE THE ONE ON THE SKY THINGY. I'M GLAD YOU SAID IT FIRST.
@sandysandstorm I don't know, I guess art is whatever, I obviously wasn't in a very artful mood the day I made that post. I really don't like a lot of modern art, but you know the old saying about beauty being in the eye of the beholder.
Love Van Goch by the way.
On a side note: yes, v.G sold more than one painting during his life
@kajenomaja We're glad you liked it. Thanks for watching! You can see highlights from "In Our Time" at our website.
@BytheseaMrTodd - is it for Queen's University? because I have to do the same thing....
