    You’re in for a very challenging game James. I haven’t seen many UA-camrs get far in it.

    Notes 2 (electric boogaloo):
    Combat tips and hints, because you sounded almost in distress when you fought the guy at the 20 min mark.
    So again I will try and keep it simple, and easy to understand.
    Red circle with a man = your health. If the red circle goes away, you die.
    Blue circle with a man = your stance. Stance means how you are standing while fighting. A bad stance would happen after missing a strike (open for an attack yourself). Think boxing, when you strike your guard falls.
    Your stance only gets lower when you miss an attack.
    Man that slowly gets filled with green circle = fatigue (tiredness). The higher your endurance is the longer you last, but the general idea is that you will want to be in same or better shape then the enemy.
    Restore = you restore your stance. I would love to tell you exactly when to do this, but it takes practice to know what you can get away with (and when). So my general suggestion is to try and always have full stance.
    Respite = reduces fatigue, some fights have time limits, others don't (especially duels). So if you are confident in your items and stats, then you can go from fully tired to fresh. (takes forever though)
    Attacking:
    The left circle with the H means the chance to hit. The right circle with the is the chance for it to pierce armor.
    So you looked at the wrong circle but had the correct idea. Now you can always raise and lower the chance to hit, by moving the attitude slider (aggressive vs defensive).
    Shield: Using the shield is great as it knocks the opponents out of their stance.
    Deeds:
    So each run is scored when you finish it (either retiring or dying). And the deeds you have done matters here.
    Each kill gives you points, but and this is important, you also get points for "injuring the enemy", and an injury is counted if you end combat against an enemy with 50% or less health.
    There is also other things for deeds, like duels and awards. But that is not relevant for you right now.
    My tips...
    I would focus on stat gains, especially constitution. You should aim to survive.
    Your weapon, shield and jav skill gets raised if you survive the chapters. And while it won't make you a killing machine, it will make you a pretty average fighter (most likely just below average).
    Feel free to ask about anything in the game. I should be able to answer you.

    YES LETS GOT!!!!!!!!
    This is going to be great! Ask me anything, I will be able to guide you though any and all hurdles. Trust in the process, trust in me.
    Okay, relax deep breath, this is one of my all time favorite games. It's silly but it calms me down so much to play it, so this is great!
    Now let watch the video!!

    Very similar to Heads will Roll in some ways, but Heads will Roll definitely expanded on the concept. If you haven't played this, it's still very fun.

    • @NielsMulvad
      @NielsMulvad 16 днів тому +1

      Expanded vs took the entire fighting system and lifted it, as well as the major story beats from the early game. HWR isn't bad, but when you know this game, it's so obvious to see in the fights and events.
      For example Shieldwall in both game, and the tntroduction fight that shows that there is stakes if you do them (rescue prince in HWR).
      A legionaries life is best girl for a reason.

      @candlesinwoodenroom4888 Okay you don't enjoy the game, so maybe don't show you're upset about it by commenting?
      Also: you literally said in your comment you don't think it's a game but then a few words later you reference it by saying "text based game" so clearly you think it's a game. And yes, you were obviously talking to the OP, why else would you mention the game specifically by name when they also mentioned that specific title?
      Your recollection of that event in the game is inaccurate anyway.

    Legionary’ Life is an absolutely incredible game, definitely a huge inspiration for Heads Will Roll (a little too much in some’s opinions)
    Heads Will Roll is certainly a lot more camp. And I think they’re both enjoyable as separate experiences
    Excited too see what happens to your character(s).
    I won’t spoil anything, but if you want to ask any questions regarding the game I’d be happy to answer because I’ve sank far too much time into it.
    Regarding value though? An absolute yes. Far too few people have covered this game.

  • @NielsMulvad
    @NielsMulvad 16 днів тому +4

    Notes:
    I am trying to not overload with stuff. So I will try and keep it very simple so you can get a better feel for the game over time.
    So stats. For the first few runs, until you can retire, you really should focus on physical traits, as they are what will most likely keep you alive as a simple legionary.
    Physical stats and what they mean.
    Strength = damage
    Endurance = stamina (how long you can stay in a fight before being exhausted)
    Constitution = vitality / health.
    Quickness = attack order, it can mean you get to attack 2 or even 3 times while your opponent just stands around.
    Coordination = How high you can train javalin throwing. Coord is pretty much the limit, though it's possible to push above it.
    Now mental stats are both really important and not important at all (for you right now). There is events and skill checks that requires them (you saw your friend, that is a random event), but as you are on a fresh account, your focus should be on just survival.
    They matter when you start trying to do end game stuff, as they are needed for officers. But realistically you should aim to just survive.
    Fighting stats:
    Sword = hit chance
    Shield = hit chance with the shield, very important to raise.
    Jav = hit chance with jav. Javs has the chance to one hit all encounters expect 3. (where they are available).
    In combat, my earliest suggestions would be, to look at the following;
    the blue circle is your stance, the worse it is, the easier it is to die. (and much harder to kill others). Full blue = good.
    The enemies gear (or lack of it). It's always nice to stab someone where they are not armored.
    Always look at your exhaustion level (the man with the stick/sword) and think about your stance (blue to red slider).
    And I am stopping myself here, as I can feel myself continuing on and on. As I said in the other post, this is one of my all time favorite games. And you will find it laughable how much "Heads will roll" has "borrowed" from this game, even the story beats are the same in the first act.

    Lovely little game, I wish they made some expansions and told more stories of different Roman wars.
    My advice: don't try to be a hero, don't be courageous, just try to survive 3 deadly campaigns with your life intact. Later you can work on great deeds.
    When it comes to fighting, experiment a bit and you'll eventually find the rhythm of the combat, it's not supposed to feel like RNG or taking low% shots.
    Javelin is for the Delta boys, early on just trust in the sword and shield.
    And upgrade your armor asap, you're an iron clad Roman soldier in a world where everyone's still fighting in tunics with bare shins!
