Thank you for writing it! It's been in my bag, in the bath, covered with herbs and dashes of oil as well as other unidentifiable additions lol
Thanks so much for watching! Really means a lot!

I love how all of your book recommendations are so different from the mainstream ones. Those books are great too. But it gets tiring looking at video after video, who recommend the same book over and over again. I learnt so much through just this one video of yours and purchased so many amazing books. Thank you so much! :)

A wonderful list! Here are some ones that I’ve read or have been on my radar:
“The Art and Practice of Spiritual Herbalism: Transform, Heal & Remember with the Power of Plants and Ancestral Medicine” (by Karen M. Rose) is a great rec for intersectional herbalism by a black author!
“Revolutionary Witchcraft: A Guide to Magical Activism” (by Sarah Lyons) is lovely as an intro to revolutionary magic!
“Missing Witches: Recovering True Histories of Feminist Magic” (by Amy Torok and Lisa Dickens) is nice for an inclusive history based read!
“Caliban and the Witch: Women, the Body, and Primitive Accumulation” (by Silvia Federici) is the wild card on this list. It’s an academic history/theory book about the history of the body in the transition to capitalism. It moves moves from the peasant revolts of the late Middle Ages to the witch-hunts and the rise of mechanical philosophy, and she investigates the capitalist rationalization of social reproduction.

Nice list! I highly recommend 'A Witch's Guide to Spellcraft' and 'By Rust of Nail and Prick of Thorn', both by Althaea Sebastiani. Those books really made me to work on my witchy skills. Also, a special mention to 'Practical Magic' by Nancy B. Watson

Thank you so much for this review. Yes books are not cheap 🧙 are these all based around developing a practice in England? I have purchased a lot these 12months as a newbie, only to discover lewellyn and similar really aren't quite hitting the information I was needing (spent a lot of money on Sabbaths books). I have now found Rachel Pattinson & Troy publishers. 🌻🌻

    • @dothemagicalthing
      @dothemagicalthing  3 роки тому +1

They really aren't cheap some of them! Grovedaughter Witchery and Rebel Witch are international takes on Witchcraft.
      Troy I like.
For specifically English works I'd look to Gemma Gary and Tylluan Penry. For Owen Davies' cunning folk book too for historical context.
I'd recommend having a look at PBW Witch shop. (The link is in the description box) as they sell some great books on Witchcraft of all sorts. A lot of them are on my wishlist.
      Thanks so much for watching!

Though I do have a different Ellen Dugan book, Seasons of Witchery, I found at a library book sale. I almost thought it was the same one as the first you showed of hers, so I had to go check, and turns out it was just the same author! XD
I also really like this one, Backwoods Witchcraft, I'm about halfway through it and it just seems really good to me, I don't see a lot of people recommending that one. XDa

Hi, are you able to separate Wicca from Witchcraft
and indicate books discussing the practice of pure Witchcraft
    without the New Age influences/Wicca?

    • @dothemagicalthing
      @dothemagicalthing  11 місяців тому

You can separate Wicca from Witchcraft despite a lot of books conflating the terms because Wicca is a religion under the umbrella of Witchcraft but Witchcraft as a whole is not a religion it is a practice or craft.
Definitely check out the book Grovedaughter Witchery by Bree NicGarran and the work of Althaea Sebastiani's Witch's Guide To Spellcraft. These works are quite foundational and will get you practicing.

      @@dothemagicalthing great :)
because I need little help, but from the beginning, step by step:
I managed to find out some interesting things about my house and the surrounding area
I have ruins here where several different families lived
including one Prussian countess who controlled magic, mainly clouds and water,
my grandfather told me about her as a child,
      i.e.grandfather's childhood when I was a child,
he told me about it when he was a child
and he saw this countess go out onto the balcony and bring dark clouds,
heavy rain and a powerful storm that lasted for several days
until the residents apologized for something,
and then she went out onto the balcony of her palace, waved her hands
and the weather returned to normal
Meanwhile, apparently my house where I live with my family is inhabited not only by me
      and my relatives
also the two souls of our ancestors, grandmother and great-grandfather :)
but apart from them, there were several other beings that were never human
these are not the ghosts of former people and they are rather malicious...
Apparently the spirit of my great-grandfather wants to cooperate with me
on the path of spiritual development, but he cannot do it because he is ahead of me
and I am not ready, I am too behind...
Of course, this information is not in 100% verified and reliable
just highly probable,but... myself and the people I know, let's call them siddhi people ;D
are not advanced enough to gain full knowledge about who, what, when and how.
Are you able to help me on this matter?
For example, using Tarot to determine what creatures live in my house, what their role is,
what they want, how I can establish a relationship and symbiosis with them,
or how to get rid of them if they are hostile :(
I would not like to drive away creatures that are friendly and valuable
