I agree 100% in that she deserves an Oscar. Maybe The Age of Innocence was just ok, but her performace was superb there. I really liked her in Dangerous Liasons, as well as in White Oleander (she should have won something as supporting actress).
Yeah, but she followed up Baker Boys with the dreadful "Russia House" following year with Sean Connery. A snooze fest of a movie if there ever was one. It really slowed the momentum she had in Hollywood.
Michelle's version of "My Funny Valentine" is the BEST version I've ever heard. It was played during the closing credits after Suzy Diamond leaves Jeff Bridges.
The Fabulous Baker Boys for me the best Movie of all time! I love Michelle in this movie! Hollywood makes big mstake that she dont wins the Oscar! All Actors makes a great job in this movie!

She does deserve an Oscar. I think she deserved one for the Fabulous Baker Boys, I loved her in Dangerous Liasons but I don't think it was as Oscar worthy as the Fabulous Baker Boys. The Age of Innocence was ok. I didn't enjoy that movie that much! I hope she wins maybe she'll win for the movie Welcome to the People!
Hoped you've matured a bit more in the last nine years. The Age of Innocence belongs in the pantheon of marvelous, beautiful and heartbreaking cinema history.
@Drew73586 Even when she DOES deserve it, it's not on her. The Oscar is so political. She should have won for Baker Boys, and also for Age of Innocence and Dangerous Liasons.
I'm so happy she won! She's my favorite film actress! I hate it that she did not win the Academy Award for the Fabulous Baker Boys! She deserves one! I hope she does! Come on Michelle Pfeiffer you can do it!!!!!
Michelle pfeiffer has deserved at least 1 academy award. Propably 3 academy awards. Tells me that academy award committee or whoever or whatever doesn't know anything about movies, actors or actresses. They simply doesn't appreciate a single actors or actresses performance. They care only about money. That's all.
To those who pointed out Michelle’s omission of Jeff and Bo in the acknowledgements: I’m sure this was not a snub. The intimacy of having worked with the Bridges throughout the filming likely brought about a special bonding, so that the mutual appreciation between the trio was just *understood*. And she could have just been nervous. How many of us wish we could have a “do-over” following a social faux pas?
Should have won the Oscar that year too, but ran into a sentimental steam train called Jessica Tandy for Driving Ms. Daisy. Hollywood was not about to pass up the opportunity to hand Jessica an Oscar. Michelle would never get another opportunity for an Oscar. These days it's less common for Hollywood to give an Oscar to someone much older. Michelle was just unlucky.
@@lizziebkennedy7505only 2 actresses from 1980-2024 really deserved their awards. Every other are just "have to give award someone ". That fact, that hollywoods biggest and best actress doesn't deserved even one award, tells, at least to me, a lot, whoever or whatever decide, who to give this years award . And academy awards had made huge mistakes before. From the very beginning. And will be done in the future. BTW, nominations or so called "honorary awards" can't count anyone's list. And, this is fact, most likely she never get academy award. Movies simply are not anymore the same they used to be. Too much have been change. That's all.
Likely just nerves. A lot of actors' acceptance speeches seem to amazingly leave out someone key. That was an incredible ensemble cast, and the 3 of them and everyone else knows it.
She definitely should've won the Oscar, but they thought Jessica Tandy was better. I bet the reason why they gave it to her was bc they were in love with Driving Miss Daisy not her
@@lizziebkennedy7505 no crap. But there are also big sweeps that occur, where voters look at the ballot and check everything off for one movie (EX: Titanic, ROTK) without watching everything else
@kingsize127 I lived White Oleander too! I'm xpecting ehr to get a nomination for Welcome to the People, but not for Dark Shadows (I don't see the Academy giving that movie the recognition it might deserve). I want her to win an Oscar, but not one of those honorary ones.
Why was she put in the Motion Picture Drama category at the Golden Globes? Usually, the HFPA considers any movie with singing to be a Musical/Comedy. See Reese Witherspoon (WALK THE LINE) and Marion Cotillard (LA VIE EN ROSE), who each won for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical/Comedy, even though their respective films are far from being musicals or comedies. It's also strange that Jessica Tandy was put in the Musical/Comedy category for DRIVING MISS DAISY, since that movie is clearly a drama. Though it contains some humor, it's not enough to justify it being a comedy (Viola Davis in THE HELP was put in Drama and it has similar themes and a similar feel) and there's absolutely no singing.
Honestly, it's a dramedy and it could probably go either way, but I still think musical/comedy would have been more appropriate for all the above listed reasons. It might even have scored a BP nomination at the Globes had it been campaigned that way.
Why on earth Sally Field in Steel magnolias was submitted in drama category while Jessica tandy in comedy category??? Driving miss daisy is comedy and Steel Magnolias is drama?
Michelle looking pretty hot here, but let's not leave out Jessica Lange, she's not shabby looking either. Before Lange would succumb to Botox later she was as if not more versatile than Pfeiffer and she would eventually win an Oscar for leading actress in addition to the Supporting Actress Oscar already won for "Tootsie".
I'm sure she was just caught up in the moment … and running on raw nerves. There was this mutual understanding of how their joint roles made the *magic* happen … and, given only a scant few moments in which to express it all, she was most likely a bit overwhelmed-and very well may have wished for a “do-over,” the morning following her acceptance delivery at the Globes. But the common bond that they had developed during the making of this wonderfully addictive film was apparent, even 25 years later: ua-cam.com/video/_c19PbeK6D4/v-deo.html
Michelle is divine.
I just can't get over how painfully beautiful and how great of an actress she is.
♡yes, divine and beautiful♡
One of the most beautiful women in movie history, without question…. Is Michelle Pfeiffer.
This woman was just born beautiful, and gifted.
Michelle Pfeiffer was superb in "The Age of Innosense".
She totally deserved it. She was continuously nominated for Golden globes for 6 years from 1989 to 94. Making a Whoopie will never ever be forgotten.
She's never not been stunning. Those eyes are oh so delicious. One of the most gorgeous women I have ever seen in my life.
TRULY!!!
It is amazing how many people have said this. I am not sure anyone is in her league
Michelle's my fav actress ever, and one of the most beautiful women on Earth. Thanks for posting this!
She is even more beautiful now....
She inspired me to act and I just love her in everything shes done. She was robbed of at least 1 Oscar esp. for baker boys :)

michelle i lov that she's very shy and homble al though her beauty
I'm hoping it was her nerves that prevented her for not thanking Jeff or Beau Bridges....the three of them were truly an ensemble!!!!
pokergalpoker Wow, good catch! I don't think she intentionality left them out, she's not a nasty person. Looks like she really didn't expect to win.
There's no animosity there. She's spoken many times about how she and the Bridges boys are trying to convince Kloves to write a sequel.
