Also to deal with bad draws, I would house rule when your the auctioneer, in addition to drawing your card, you may also bottom deck or discard face down your current card to draw a new one. Helps cycle and prevent the feel bad if stuck with a bad card for the duration.
Will also speed up the game as a by product.
And if that feels too powerful, you can requiren a payment of a coin or 2 to activate that effect. Could also keep the card you discarded face down and it's a negative point at the end of the game for each time you use that effect.
Considering my favorite game is High Society, I'll probably be into this. Potential optional house rule to mitigate luck and slightly decrease play length: Have a hand of three cards instead of two and once per game you can put up two cards for auction.
"I'm keeping all that" 😂
You mentioned that you feel the game runs too long for what it is.
What are your thoughts about House Ruling that after shuffling the deck and seeding the bottom with the “Fini” card, you just remove the top 14 cards from the deck, face down, and play the game time in that fashion? (Or, remove 10 cards face down and still seed the “Fini” cards to the bottom of the deck, as per rules?)
Seems easy enough, just hope it doesn't change the star card economy by discarding too many of those.
Curious if you can shorten the game by removing cards.
I see two clowns, neither new in town! Ha! Such a witty burn! I'm heelarious!! Heelarious, I say!
