"This episode came out when World of Warcraft was fairly new" I was about to correct you, but then I looked at the WoW release date (2004) and when this episode came out (2006). Wow (literally) ... the game had only been out for 2 years. I swore more time passed between when the game released and this episode came out. The first expansion pack wouldn't be released until a year later. I remember the early 2000s and how popular WoW was. Blizzard could do no wrong back then: Warcraft 2, Diablo 1 Starcraft, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3 and then WoW, all still classics and still some of the best in their respective genres (RTS, Action RPG and MMORPG). Too bad Blizzard is a shadow of what it once was.
I still remember watching this episode for the first time over 10 years ago. My friends parents were out of town and there were like eight of us teenagers having some beers at their place. I remember us crying laughing watching this. Good times.
This definitely aired at the best time possible during the height of WoW's popularity. I remember all my friends and I being super stoked to watch it and laughing throughout, even though it was making fun of us as WoW players. Blizzard Entertainment actually helped a lot with the rigging and footage for the WoW segments. Needless to say A LOT of what they did for the show isn't actually how WoW works. But there was a lot that was accurate to the game in the naming of spells and abilities. Kenny playing a human hunter was actually very unique at the time, as that class wasn't available in the game as a human when the show came out. Now however it is something you can do, so perhaps South Park inspired that change.
One of the few episodes they had external help for the animation, the Warcraft scenes were actually done by the people that animated world of Warcraft. Good collab
Blizzard made a reference to this episode in another one of their games called Hearthstone. They made an Elwyn Boar card and killing 7 of them gets you the Sword of A Thousand Truths. It actually drains your mana.

Well still none of them disrepect their fathers anywhere close to how much Cartman disrespects his mom. And Stan's dad is Randy, so to be fair, I'm not sure it would be that easy to have him for a dad and never become disrespectful.
I remember there was an incident in Everquest 2, I believe, where someone went around constantly killing other players while hacking. An admin took over their account, livestreamed it, dumped out all that person's equipment, suicided from a tower in a town, and permabanned that person.
Something like this happened in Tibia, Tibia always had a PK (player killer) system, where you can kill other players and steal their loot, but then people can kill you and do the same without repercussion (the original PK couldn't enter safe non pvp zones and people won't get a PK mark for killing a PK) The thing is that once there was a player so powerful that he killed almost everybody in a server, people where in mases moving to other servers just because of him. His name was Ferumbras. a whole guild had to organize to take him down and the developers decided to make him a boss ingame to honor his power, until this day Ferumbras is a boss you can fight and has a chance to give you his hat
One detail I always loved about this episode is that Kenny's PC is old. At 6:23 it even has a low frame rate (not shown in this video). When I was growing up, I had an old slow PC and was always jealous of people who could afford newer better PCs.
I don't think you can kill other players without accepting a duel first but that's only if they're the same faction. I remember being in the alliance at a low level area when a high level horde guy just sort of flew down and started murdering anyone indiscriminately.
I was waiting for the 'gank' word to come out. I was flying around on my mount when another player dismounted mid-air and dotted me up, I was dead before I had time to land and heal. All I could say was 'respect'.
Never played Warcraft but I remember hearing about some dungeon that had a curse that when you died you exploded or something? anyways people near you would be affected by it, that curse was only supposed to be in the specified dungeon but for some reason there was a glitch and players affected could leave and carry the curse outside the dungeon so it spread all over to other players, I guess the whole situation was studied to see how it see if it played out like an actual pandemic in real life.
The glitch was that some un-killable npc's could get infected with the dungeon virus and then just be vectors. I saw a video about the pathological study of the event 😁
It was a curse that affected everyone in the raid group...the issue was that the curse would stay on the hunter's pet, or the warlocks minion, even after they left the raid, and would therefore infect anyone they came upon. If you weren't a high level, or a healer, you were pretty much guaranteed to die. Then you would rez at a graveyard, get re-infected and just keep dying. Very annoying. I believe the raid was Zul Gurub. Man, that brings back memories LOL
Trey thought this was as the worst episode and he did not want to air it. He thought it was going to be cancelled after this episode. It ended up winning an emmy
8:43 Man, I love the episodes when the four literally get along! Also, the airsoft episode after the hot dog stand one is an great one for Airsoft players alike
What's funny is, that the "big guy" isn't even a thought up character (at least not completely). He used to be (iirc) the cinematic director at Blizzard. The youtuber/streamer/gamedev "Pirate Software" is his son.
Funny thing about this episode is that everyone likes it. Even my parents who generally hates animation had a blast watching this and they asked my to turn on another episode after it was done. You don't have to enjoy South Park or WoW to enjoy this episode, it simply just speaks to everyone.
Randy making those sounds as his character died 🤣🤣 This is a great episode, I loved your reaction as always! 1 - I’m not much of a gamer, but I’ve always been into Pokémon. That’s an RPG lol 2 - Any kind of chips make for a good snack haha
I LOVED this episode. In WoW when you start a character you pick the type of server you want to play on, pvp or normal. If you choose a pvp server then yes people can run up to kill you and camp you. On a normal server you have to request to duel and the other person has to accept. There are areas like arenas and battlegrounds where it's a free for all but those are designated areas that you expect that sort of thing to happen.
I think one of the best things that I know about this particular episode is that Blizzard Entertainment being such fans of South Park actually gave Trey and Matt access to their servers so when it goes to the World of Warcraft game World those are in Game assets that they are using
I never played World of Warcraft so I don't know if it happened there too, but in the MMO Runescape, there was a very notorious bug that allowed some players to attack others in places where they normally couldn't. It's called the Falador Massacre and basically on June 6th, 2006 (yes literally the date 6/6/06 XD) a few players learned about their unique status after the game forcibly kicked out all players attending a house party back to the main world (specifically the namesake city) and started going around killing every player they could find so they could take their items. All the players that abused the bug were given permabans and it has lived in infamy with the playerbase ever since
The joke about the developers not playing the game was actually a thing for the longest time. The devs kept making changes to a game they didn't play and it kept getting worse for a few years.
5:16 The playerbase is split between two warring factions, permanently hostile to each other. Players of the same faction cannot attack eachother, unless they request a duel and have a duel (which is non-fatal). A player from the opposite faction can attack you freely in any contested area. However, if they have wandered into your faction's friendly area, they cannot attack you unless you attack them first. South Park doesn't stick to ingame mechanics in this episode, just the general ideas. That human character could not have attacked the boys' characters like that, no. Nor could he "achieve a level we thought impossible" :P
My dad's a huge South Park fan, I've (somewhat jokingly) called him an "R-Tard" referencing this episode quite a few times 🤣 especially with anything dealing with technology. Never fails to get a laugh.
I think it just depends on the relationship, I'm 24, my dad is 62, we get along great, go out and have drinks together, go to concerts together, that sort of disrespectful foul mouth insulting is how we communicate with each other, we both know it's just screwing around, and I've called far worse than "r - tard" but like I said, I think it just depends on the relationship
Great choice for episode and great reaction. You do a good job leaving a lot of the nuanced but really moments in where a lot of other reactors might cut them out, like Randy's goofy reaction when he holds the flashdrive over his head as if it were actually a mystical sword. "Ooooooaaaaahh...." That always gets me Favorite RPG will always be Chrono Trigger.
In modern wow there's a duel where you request, and there's a warmode you can turn to enable player vs player but only from opposite faction (Horde vs Alliance, via versa). In classic and Wrath of the Lich King, you can join player vs player servers, but you always in danger of getting killed by the opposite faction.
The craziest thing about this is that it was the mother of react vids. I do not know how many people I made watch this back in the day just to see their reaction. It was amazing.
@@dash.reacts Yeah there's two of em, Stick of Truth & The Fractured But Whole. There very simplistic games, compared to some other heavier RPGs but they're fun for a bit of mindless South Park fun.
5:16 to answer your question there is pvp and pve server . In pvp server when you enter some contested territory around lvl 20-25 ish and if there is an online player from the other team that spot you when you are questing or what not . He can attack and kill you. In a PVE server they cant . You can ask for duel in any type of server but its only to practice or challenge player from your own team and they wont die either cuz the duel finish when someone reach 1 point of life left. Hope this answers your question .
Ive played WoW since 2006, when you are within your faction (alliance or horde) you have to accept a duel to compete against your own in the world (alliance vs alliance/horde vs horde). In PvP servers, if you are opposite factions (alliance vs horde) you can just attack them freely. If you are flagged for ovp on any server, people from the opposite faction can kill you. The only way a duel was ever able to kill same faction was a bug where a damage over time (dot) lasted beyond the end of the duel and would eat away since you lose at 1hp in a duel to which that big got fixed
You can normally only kill people from the enemy faction. Me and a friend found a way to murder some newbies. Basically one of us sneaked into the capital of the horde with a rogue character, you get killed by the guards a few times but once inside you can stay undetected by enemy players. Then the other would log into a low level Horde Character and lure people into the building. That way we killed a lot of players and pretended it was a weird bug. If you go into a specific building in Orgrimmar and jump twice while turning around a random Nightelf Rogue will appear behind you and kill you. Most people actually belived it, fun times.
I dont think anyones managed to level up so high they could murder people. BUT there was one time where they had an in-pandemic break out that was an actual problem in 2005. There was this one Boss battle where players could get infected with a debuff condition called Corrupted Blood and it spread by close proximity but it was supposed to be removed when you exited the region. People figured out you could infect a pet/animal, exit the region with it and it would still have the debuff so it ended up spreading to everyone. Crazy to see that play out in a game setting.
Yeah you gotta agree duel but only with a player from your own faction. You can kill the opposing faction without a duel in the world as long as you both have "war mode" on. Its free kill of the opposite faction in battlegrounds and arenas which are specifically pvp. It used to be much simpler

He was quite over weight and rest of his hair was unkempt. And his knowledge of C++ and basic were amazing! Guess what? He DID play WoW too! But he also played other Blizzard games. And he didn't talk that much unless it was about gaming or computers. Oh he did have a wrist brace too for his right wrist. Oh, man what a character he was. I wonder where he is now?! LOL
Bro I watch a lot of reaction videos. I genuinely love yours. It seems you really enjoy South Park too and pay attention to the small details. Keep it up you got a new follower 👍🏻
Yup, there were some WoW hackers. And I remember seeing in a ''game cheaters owned'' video, that there was a dude, who was just too much xp to deal with by others (that he was just randomly killing), not to mention - he could just teleport away for them to even TRY to deal with. The devs got revenge by stripping him naked of all gear and clothes, make him go on a tower, wave and jump off before also deleting all his chars
There was actually the infamous corrupted blood bug that spread like a plague throughout wow servers in 2005 killing entire cities worth of players. as for the battle against the other player lasting 17 hours, that's probably in reference to the infamous high notorious monster pandemonium warden in final fantasy 11 where players marathoned a single pull for 18 hours straight and were unsuccessful in killing it.
I haven’t played the game in years but I’ll try to explain it as best as I can. There’s servers that are designated pve (player vs environment) where you have to opt in and agree to fight other players, or join a battleground. Then there’s pvp (player vs player) servers where depending on what area you are in will determine who can initiate a fight with who. The thing that determines whether you can be attacked is your pvp flag, which is enabled either manually, or by attacking a player from the enemy faction. If you’re in your own factions territory then to be attacked you either have to attack an enemy player or flag yourself. If you’re in a territory of the enemy faction then your flag will be enabled by default, but theirs won’t be on by default. And if you’re in a contested area (not controlled by either faction) then everyone’s pvp flag will be enabled so anyone can attack anyone. To fight people from your own faction you have to request a duel which the other person has to agree to, and you don’t die from the duel since it ends when someone either concedes, runs away, or hits 1 health. Your level and gear is completely irrelevant, all that matters is if your pvp flag is enabled or if you agree to a duel. The Sword 1000 Truths uses a model of a different sword in the game (which I did have on one of my characters) called The Hungering Cold, although they did add a sword with the same model that references this episode, as some item models are reused for multiple different items with different names. There also used to be incredibly powerful items in the game, called GM or Game Master items, that weren’t typically accessible to players unless a mistake was made by a GM when returning lost or stolen items. One of these GM items could instantly kill every enemy within like 30yds, and it did accidentally make its way into the hands of a player when a GM made a mistake. The player sent it to someone in his guild and they used it to clear entire raids which resulted in numerous bans for those involved. After that, Blizzard edited GM items to remove all stats and and abilities on them so that they couldn’t be abused by players if they happened to get one of them by mistake. The antagonist character of Jenkins is named after Leeroy Jenkins which is one of the most famous WoW viral videos/memes, but his appearance is based on one of the Blizzard Devs who worked with Matt and Trey to help make the episode. As someone who played WoW at the time this came out, and for a long time after, this episode will always be special. As for your questions at the end, my favorite RPG is probably the Mass Effect trilogy, and my favorite snack and drink combo while gaming is beef jerky, Mike & Ike’s, and sweet tea or Mountain Dew Baja Blast.
You have to agree for a duel with someone in your faction (Alliance VS Horde) and in your factions areas enemies cant attack you, same as in Sanctuaries. You can also choose PvE worlds which you cant kill players in unless you are in a Battleground, PvP worlds are required in order to openly kill opposing faction players.
The most accurate part of this whole episode is the way they talk on team speak. That sorta emotionless monotone with the last word drawn out takes me back to my WOW raiding days more than anything else. Such a solid episode. You can tell they did their homework and it makes me wonder if they were intentionally inaccurate at points just to troll the WOW fans
The funny thing was, Blizzard helped the South Park team with setting up the servers etc they needed to record it all and one day a random guy outside the team got access to the server just like the main "villain" in this episode.
about deuling: depends on the situation. There are two main factions, Alliance, and Horde. If two people are in the same faction, the only way you can fight is a duel, and the duel stops when one of you reaches 1 hp (you don't die). If two people are on different factions, it depends on the TYPE of server you're playing on. If you're on a normal server, you both have to be 'flagged' for PVP (player versus player) to fight. (this is an option you can turn on or off). On PVP servers, PVP flagging is automatic depending on where you are in the world. If you're in a zone 'owned' by the oposing faction, you are automatically flagged. If you're in a zone 'owned' by your faction, you're not flagged, but can flag yourself for PVP manually if you want. If you're in a neutral zone, both sides are auto-flagged for PVP. long story short, NO, this is not how the game works. The asshole messing with the kids was hacking somehow to allow PVP with his own faction, and was using skills/spells not in the game (appears to be a human warrior, but was casting fireballs (mage skill) and summoning scorpions (warlocks summon things, but there's no scorpion summon)).
Inventory wasnt ctrl I in World of Warcraft. It seems like the South Park team never actually played the game. The inventory was refered to as bags so the key was actually just the B button.
The best RPG and by go to is Final Fantasy (it’s from Japan ;) ) their mmo has surpassed WOW has the biggest mmorpg last year and has an amazing community support. The rpg expands on the FF universe and pays hommage to other mainline titles in the series by adding bosses, lore, story, armour Music, dungeons etc. from other mainline titles of the series The music by itself is a 10/10 in that series. I don’t play the mmo as much anymore as I like to stick with single player games as online rpgs are too grindy and I have barely enough time for myself these days.

I dont pvp cuz mine is disabled so no one can request me to fight....unless you go into a pvp zone where you have it turned on unless you can fly away your in trouble. as for my go to game its Warcraft and my go to snacks im embarrassed that it is chips..and mountain dew.
Depends on the server. pvp servers are zome based. In contested zones its open PVP, but in friendly zones you can only be attacked once you attacked an enemy. But has been some days since I played.
5:268 - there are PvP servers (player-versus-player) where you can fight anyone at any moment. but there are also RPG servers which are more about completing quests and the whole story. Loook like this hacker broke into an RPG server to kill everybody.
There are duels in WoW, but only with the same faction, you can turn on war mode or queue for a battleground to fight people on the other faction out in the world or a instanced area. While I love this episodes, there are somethings about it that annoy me, like Randy saying he's a night elf hunter when he's a human warrior and other minor stuff that flies over the head of non-players :P
Maybe Randy was just not supposed to be knowing what he was talking about, and he was supposed to be getting it wrong. Because he was bandwagoning the game.

I could not even imagine disrespecting my dad the way these characters disrespect theirs. I remember this episode all too well. It was hilarious!!! Good upload.
Well still none of them disrepect their fathers anywhere close to how much Cartman disrespects his mom. And Stan's dad is Randy, so to be fair, I'm not sure it would be that easy to have him for a dad and never become disrespectful.
this show is so good. Cartman is not my favorite character but he shows a lot of leader qualities.
The funniest and most wholesome thing in this entire episode for me is that all Butters wants to do is play Hello Kitty on his computer. 😂
Hello Kitty just made an Island Adventure game based on this South Park joke from almost 20 years ago lol
I remember there was an incident in Everquest 2, I believe, where someone went around constantly killing other players while hacking. An admin took over their account, livestreamed it, dumped out all that person's equipment, suicided from a tower in a town, and permabanned that person.
“This could very well lead to the end of the world…..of Warcraft.” 🤣
Something like this happened in Tibia, Tibia always had a PK (player killer) system, where you can kill other players and steal their loot, but then people can kill you and do the same without repercussion (the original PK couldn't enter safe non pvp zones and people won't get a PK mark for killing a PK)
The thing is that once there was a player so powerful that he killed almost everybody in a server, people where in mases moving to other servers just because of him. His name was Ferumbras. a whole guild had to organize to take him down and the developers decided to make him a boss ingame to honor his power, until this day Ferumbras is a boss you can fight and has a chance to give you his hat
Anyone notice at 8:20 everyone has a flatscreen monitor but Kenny.
Newb Ganking is totally not Kewl
I was waiting for the 'gank' word to come out.
I was flying around on my mount when another player dismounted mid-air and dotted me up, I was dead before I had time to land and heal. All I could say was 'respect'.
This was the ultimate advertisement for WoW
Never played Warcraft but I remember hearing about some dungeon that had a curse that when you died you exploded or something? anyways people near you would be affected by it, that curse was only supposed to be in the specified dungeon but for some reason there was a glitch and players affected could leave and carry the curse outside the dungeon so it spread all over to other players, I guess the whole situation was studied to see how it see if it played out like an actual pandemic in real life.
The glitch was that some un-killable npc's could get infected with the dungeon virus and then just be vectors. I saw a video about the pathological study of the event 😁
Wikipedia has an article about it too. Just search Corrupted Blood Incident.
6:50 They use a lot of ingame music for this episode, which is nice :D This is an ingame track.
I always love these episodes where the four get along well and doing stuff together
I've played WoW going on 15+ years now, when this episode came out literally everyone in the WoW community watched it and was talking about it.
Funny thing about this episode is that everyone likes it. Even my parents who generally hates animation had a blast watching this and they asked my to turn on another episode after it was done. You don't have to enjoy South Park or WoW to enjoy this episode, it simply just speaks to everyone.
My dad always sits still and doesn't take his eyes off for a second when this episode is on.
You know it would be funny if the guy who was killing all the player was actually a version of Leeroy Jenkins that wanted revenge.
Randy making those sounds as his character died 🤣🤣 This is a great episode, I loved your reaction as always!
1 - I’m not much of a gamer, but I’ve always been into Pokémon. That’s an RPG lol
2 - Any kind of chips make for a good snack haha
This is one of my favourite episode of South Park, just the use of WoW animation was brilliant
I will never get tired of this South Park episode, You need another South Park World of Warcraft episode 😊
”This could be the end or the world….of Warcraft”
All the players that abused the bug were given permabans and it has lived in infamy with the playerbase ever since
Nerd
This may still be the best episode ever specifically because it’s one of the few times where Cartman was encouraging towards Kyle.
The joke about the developers not playing the game was actually a thing for the longest time. The devs kept making changes to a game they didn't play and it kept getting worse for a few years.
"How do you kill that which has no life?"
Ya can't, it's already dead on the inside. I can verify this.
That episode came-out right in the middle of when I was playing World of Warcraft. It could not have been more perfectly timed for me.
Favorite RPG: Runescape
Favorite snack for playing Runescape: Adderall
Oh 100 I would have been in the emergency room for speaking to my parents like that lol
NGL, Butters in this episode is literally me when I was a kid - except I mainly played educational CD-ROM games.
This episode got me into WOW back in the day. I didn't even know what that was until I saw the episode.
Randy smacking that kid off the chair. 😂😂😂.
Butters: There's only 4 races to choose from. Lol, you can see them all playing as more than 4different races.
My dads dead so I could get away with it.
Great choice for episode and great reaction. You do a good job leaving a lot of the nuanced but really moments in where a lot of other reactors might cut them out, like Randy's goofy reaction when he holds the flashdrive over his head as if it were actually a mystical sword. "Ooooooaaaaahh...." That always gets me
Favorite RPG will always be Chrono Trigger.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! I sincerely appreciate the feedback.
And…
CHRONO TRIGGER!!
(Epic music)
In modern wow there's a duel where you request, and there's a warmode you can turn to enable player vs player but only from opposite faction (Horde vs Alliance, via versa).
In classic and Wrath of the Lich King, you can join player vs player servers, but you always in danger of getting killed by the opposite faction.
The craziest thing about this is that it was the mother of react vids. I do not know how many people I made watch this back in the day just to see their reaction. It was amazing.
The South Park RPGs are super fun, I can keep going back to those games over and over again.
I didn’t even know South Park RPGs were a thing! Awesome!!
@@dash.reacts Yeah there's two of em, Stick of Truth & The Fractured But Whole. There very simplistic games, compared to some other heavier RPGs but they're fun for a bit of mindless South Park fun.
@@dash.reacts They are literally like playing through a 4-5 episode South Park storyline.
Most people actually belived it, fun times.
not gonna lie, I watch this episode just to watch homeboy dance lol
What's really funny is the pointlessness of what they did. The guy can literally just log back in and be fine, he just has to start at the graveyard.
Yeah but the sword is also in the game now
I dont think anyones managed to level up so high they could murder people.
It be fun if their characters become canon in the game like Leroy Jenkins.
Yeah you gotta agree duel but only with a player from your own faction. You can kill the opposing faction without a duel in the world as long as you both have "war mode" on. Its free kill of the opposite faction in battlegrounds and arenas which are specifically pvp. It used to be much simpler
lol warmode wasn't around when this episode was made. you'd just be flagged for pvp in contested areas.
@@sathanas420 yeah I know, that's why it's more complicated than it had to be. This episode was the good old days. Sorry I'm just really bitter about the burning crusade to now lol
I love that after this episode aired WoW had guilds popping up named Hello Kitty Island Adventure 😆
That guy is a real guy! He actually use to be my room mate in Wilmington NC. But had a ACER laptop back then. He really didn't help with rent, he just sponged off of me and my other room mate. Supposedly that character was based off him!! He wore old, dirty t shirt, hasn't showered in days. His hairline was receding just like that and he wore glasses like that.
Auto like for your full episode reaction. It must be so awesome!
"Voulez-vous coucher avec moi Clyde"
do you want to sleep with me tonight Clyde?
Fun fact: Trey Parker, just before this episode went on the air, wanted to pull it because he didn’t think it was good enough.
Awesome, you just watched one of the best episodes in South Park. Great reaction!

Yes you need to request to pvp.
Yeah, I suppose there is a chance for that being the case
there was no warmode back when this ep was made dummy
@@sathanas420 Chill out. It's not that serious.
