Kris knows when we need a good “fix of funny” and she delivers every time! Plus it just makes our day that much better to see her bright smile and hear her kind voice. 😊😊😊
Kris, I see you looked a bit confused with the pants as a floatation device section. We use that in the military as part of our "drownproofing" training. It actually works. You take the legs, tie them together, make sure the waist of pants are completely zipped/buttoned up. Place the legs of the pants over your head and around your neck, then take the waist opening and start off by quickly submerging it under the water to form a starting "bubble" of air in the pants (ENSURE YOU KEEP THE WAIST OPENING POINTING STRAIGHT DOWN OR THE AIR WILL ESCAPE), then you slap the water and push bubbles to the opening underwater to inflate the pants more until fully inflated, the pinch the waist opening closed by placing it between your thighs, and you will float in a reclined/seated position. If you start losing air, open the waist, and reinflate by slapping down on the water and pushing the bubbles into the pants and close off again with the legs. Repeat as needed. This is a survival technique the military uses in case you are stranded in open water and have no floatation devices available. I promise this works. And for those that have never done it, it's actually kinda fun to practice.
They taught this in primary school swimming lessons here (UK), though I'm sure it was the trousers you were wearing when "falling in" rather than someone throwing them in for you.
We had drown proofing in 5th grade and i still remember it now in high school, they also taught us one with a button up shirt where we tuck the base into our pants and button if completely and blow into the collar
The pants thing is real, it also works with coveralls while wearing them. Had to learn to do it for the navy boot camp swim test. Thanks for making my day better Kris!
She said she would try that thing with the pants in the pool to prevent drowning at 50,000 likes. Three hours in we're at 40,000. I hope you can swim Kris.
The pants thing is actually part of a survival technique taught in the navy, they teach you how to make floatation devices out of your pants and jacket
So the half frozen water bottle thing is actually great, it lasts way longer than ice cubes. I used to do it the night before for work. Another flip flop fix is to use the flat plastic bread tags; it doesn't require cutting like the pop tab, and it's more comfortable than a paper clip.

11:15 Here in San Diego, it's a common beach tip we give to newcomers and tourists to bring baby powder or cornstarch/corn flour with you to the beach because it's great at removing sand. It doesn't HAVE to be in a sock, you can use it straight from the bottle. However, I think keeping it in the sock means you have less excess powder to wipe off after removing the sand. It's like the grandma's trick to get gum out of your hair if it got stuck there: you put peanut butter on the gum, saturating it thoroughly, and it loosens it. You don't have to cut off the hair to remove the gum.

The fitted bed sheet at the beach (or the park... or any picnic location) is actually great! It does NOT mean it doesn't get sand on it. But it definitely works. It's great at the park for picnics or the littlest of humans to play in without being directly on the grass. It also seems to help keep ants off the picnic blanket (although this could just be coincidence and/or luck) 😆

The floatation thing is real. During a "drown-proofing" class in the US Army, they taught us to do exactly that. Even if you're a good swimmer, take your pants off and do this because you'll eventually get tired if you try to swim. The only caveat is that the material needs to be thick-ish, and once it's wet it holds air fairly well.
As someone who has had to wash uniform pants in the bathtub, I can see it being very effective as a floatation device. Them things do NOT wanna go underwater.
4:35 this one somewhat makes sense. I’ve been taught before to tie the arms and the body and neck holes on a t-shirt in water to create a makeshift float so I guess it makes sense.

9:09 this ice in the bottle trick I have used for over two decades... BUT you have to leave it on it's side when it freezes, that way it cools the entire bottle, otherwise, it only cools the bottom bit of water and the top stays warm. It'll last for hours like this (depending on how large the bottle is). And it's great for bottles that have small openings and you can't get ice into...
For anyone who hasn't heard of this particular tip or doesn't get the logic of doing it, during the heatstroke tip, it makes sense to put cold towels or ice in places like the arm pit and around the sides of the neck because these areas are *huge* heat sinks. Unless the body is spread eagle (or emulating DeVinci's Vitruvian Man, the apex of T-posing lol), air cannot reach these places, meaning sweat cannot evaporate and cool them. Instead, the arms would be down, trapping heat, which is especially bad because the body doesn't sweat properly during heatstroke. It's counterintuitive, I know, but this may be a sign of dehydration and the body not being able to move and replenish fluid resources fast enough. The groin also works as a heat sink zone, so applying cold towels to these areas might help too. Additionally, using cold towels on the neck cools the major blood vessels taking blood to and from the brain, which is very important when a person is experiencing their brain cooking. Not cooling these areas instead allows the heart to pump blood that has collected heat from all over the rest of the body, which can damage cells, nerves and more. The best results happen when a person can be cooled down slowly, giving their body time to adjust, but immersion in cool or cold water can effectively treat heatstroke in as little as 15 minutes *when done properly, aka, please save this technique for medical professions or when being instructed by medical professionals.* Signs of Heat Exhaustion, which, if left untreated for an upwards of 30 minutes, can turn into heatstroke: - a headache - dizziness and confusion - loss of appetite and feeling sick - excessive sweating and pale, clammy skin - cramps in the arms, legs and stomach - fast breathing or pulse - a high temperature of 38C or above - being very thirsty Signs of Heatstroke (which, if seen or noticed, do what you can to move the affected person to a cooler location immediately and do what you can to cool them down while also calling medical services): - feeling unwell after 30 minutes of resting in a cool place and drinking plenty of water - not sweating even while feeling too hot - a high temperature of 40C or above - fast breathing or shortness of breath - feeling confused - a fit (seizure) - loss of consciousness - not responsive Always remember that heatstroke, if left unnoticed and untreated, can be very fatal, so keep and eye on yourselves and the people around you for signs and symptoms, everyone! Be safe and stay hydrated!
@@siegfriedmordrake3229 It honestly might be. You must also keep in mind that your friend is in a state of being severely hyperthermic, and that the water's temperature, *depending on your location, the day, the currents, etc.,* might be below a threshold where you can do this safely and avoid giving her something known as Cold Shock Syndrome. This normally occurs in very cold or freezing water, *but* it has been noted to occur in water as warm as 21-25C/69-77F (which might have been caused by trying to do your example). Any warmer than that and the water does virtually nothing effective in terms of heat dispersion. It depends on the state of a person (if they are normally a healthy and hearty person), if they have any pre-existing conditions or are prone to heart conditions (cardiovascular issues as a known killer during Cold Shock Syndrome even in people without pre-existing conditions or genetic family history), if you can avoid putting even more stress on the person's body, accidentally causing more damage, and the current temperature of the waters at your location. There's a reason vets recommend you never put ice in your dog's water on hot summer days. Like I said, please don't submerge someone without either *some* amount of medical training, even just first aid, or being instructed by medical personnel. It's already advised just about everywhere that if you notice someone undergoing heatstroke, just call medical services, so you lose nothing by listening to instructions before trying a more extreme method on your own.
I had a heatstroke during school because nobody cared that I said I was showing signs of heat exhaustion. I wasn't allowed to go to the nurse or the bathroom (tiled, so it would be cooler) and they refused to open the windows. It was only after class ended and I blacked out trying to stand was I taken seriously. Please, everyone everywhere, just take heat exhaustion seriously.
I had an entire group of people laughing when I was putting tea bags all over a friend that had gotten a bad burn. They continued to laugh until 30 minutes later when her sunburn was no longer red and she said it wasn't hurting anymore. I win 😂
I am going through a really tough time right now, but every time Kris posts a new video she makes me instantly happy and it’s so nice to have a nice good laugh twice a week. ❤️❤️
The bathing cap thing at 5:50 actually does work, it's how we used to color-code the swimming ability of kids in the pool at camp, so we had to put on a lot of caps very quickly.
Who else appreciates Kris’ compliments as much as me, I had a pretty bad day and it just got to me today, thank you, also you are gorgeous, to Kris and everyone reading this
ive rewatched this so many times but im finally commenting the pant-float-life preserver thing actually works! i took a junior lifeguard class as a kid and one of the tests was taking denim jeans and making a life saving thing out of it.
The amount of dirty humor in this video was making me laugh so hard. Thank you Kris for making such amazing content. And thank you for always complimenting us at the start of every video. You're such a sweetheart and the world needs more people like you. :))
10:28 can you eat aloe? Yes. I'm from a country that does, but it is extremely bitter and slimy, so we kinda use it as a mild medication (especially kids who OD on sweet stuff) So can you? Yes. Should you? At your own risk.

The pants life vest is actually something learned by coast guards I believe. It works I've just never seen the beating water to get air in, always scoop the air instead.
Most branches use the same technique. The splashing works, albeit slowly, but the technique I and many I know like is to go under water and blow air in to the pants, pop up and breathe, and repeat till full. Much faster that way.

I love it, how the solution to 90% of the problems 5MinuteCrafts show would be: "just dont be stupid" and their doing more stupid possible dangerous stuff to make it even worse. Love your reactions to this type of content
9:47 I love the smell of dryer sheets. My friends know (and this is seriously not a joke, I really do this) if they need a dryer sheet or two they can just ask me and I’ll pull one out of my pocket. I’m seriously always carrying them around.
8:51 I actually can say that, while it takes longer (definitely not 5 minutes), the single large ice cube takes longer to melt compared to a bunch of tiny ice cubes. Also, some water bottle heads are too small to put ice cubes through (I have one, it’s annoying when I want cold water), so starting out with water, freezing it sideways so you can still fill it up while having the ice evenly distributed, is actually a cool hack
Let's appreciate Kris for still being able to entertain us and she somehow knows how to make our day better every time she uploads. Thank you for being such a global legend queen ❤️😄
The fitted bedsheets hack is actually really useful for when you have babies who are just starting to crawl, keeps them contained and still gives them space to explore a bit without getting sand in their faces
8:01 idk how tf you're gonna do this... fr grab all the phones and accs to like the damn video lmao I need to see kris in a giantass water balloon before I die🤣
I volunteer as your personal sewing person for crafts that require sewing. I am not a professional, but I would be happy to try! Great video as always, thank you for never failing to put a smile on our faces!
With the snorkelling goggle hack, you don't need to burn it you just need a little bit of toothpaste and smear it onto the glass/plastic then wash it off in the water. I've used this for years and it works every time even the local marine reserve uses it.
@@tessaa8636 i get that bit but isnt there still just a like a bit that still irritates youre eyes? at least whenever ive done that the toothpaste never completely goes maybe im just doing it wrong?
Hair getting blonde in the sunlight is true! And it also works for brunettes with unique hair, my mom told me that because my hair gets blonde in the summer and im brunette and she said its quite rare so im thankful for that❤
@@Xx-Lunar-xX yeah when I was watching it we were at 169k so I’m saying not only have we gone past 50k but also 100k which means Kris has to face one of her nightmares, balloons.
The bed sheet is to keep sand off your sheet. Especially handy if you have a picnic on the beach or otherwise don't want people walking by to accidently kick sand onto your stuff.
Regarding freezing half your water, it actually really helps. I do this when I go out on hot days. The water stays colder much longer than if you just use ice cubes. I tend to freeze 2/3 of the bottle though
Wouldn't you actually lose more water that way though since ice expands as it freezes? Wouldn't more warm water be better for hydration than a lesser amount of colder water?
@@SpeedForce4525 On a really hot day, the cold water feels nicer. The whole point is that as the ice melts, you have more water to drink, and it's still cold.
The Coke tab thing is pretty much the exact same thing my family has always done with jandals and bread tags!! It works (at least with bread tags), but not for long :)

It's is, just hard to get those boots off first!
@@DangerNoodle_22 I heard, don't know if it's true, that that is why bell bottoms were part of the uniform; to allow easy removal for such use.

- not sweating even while feeling too hot
- a high temperature of 40C or above
- fast breathing or shortness of breath
- feeling confused
- a fit (seizure)
- loss of consciousness
- not responsive
Always remember that heatstroke, if left unnoticed and untreated, can be very fatal, so keep and eye on yourselves and the people around you for signs and symptoms, everyone! Be safe and stay hydrated!
Feels like it would be easier to just put my friend in the sea (and keeping her head above water level if I'm feeling particularly jolly this day)
babs how long did it take to even write this comment or where did u find a place to copy and pasye it from oh my gosh😂
Please, everyone everywhere, just take heat exhaustion seriously.
very comprehensive. thank you for this good advice. stay safe out there friends.
Kris is amazing and makes me feel so good about myself every time she compliments us, I appreciate it so much!
For a sunburn, if you soak a rag in black tea and put the rag on your sunburn for like 10 minutes, it doest erase your sunburn but it sooths it.
I had an entire group of people laughing when I was putting tea bags all over a friend that had gotten a bad burn. They continued to laugh until 30 minutes later when her sunburn was no longer red and she said it wasn't hurting anymore. I win 😂
I love how Kris always compliments us as soon as the video start, never seen anyone on UA-cam be so thoughtful and do that😘❤️❤️❤️
Ya same she is amazing
The Click does it too! and he even goes into detail with names too
Ikr she is amazing, beautiful no homo, cute, caring, smart she is every nice word she is the best!!!!!!
SAMMMMEEEEEEEE

After the craziness of the last few days, I’m so grateful for Kris making us all smile!!!
I am going through a really tough time right now, but every time Kris posts a new video she makes me instantly happy and it’s so nice to have a nice good laugh twice a week. ❤️❤️
“I go straight into lobster mode” 😂😂😂😂
The bathing cap thing at 5:50 actually does work, it's how we used to color-code the swimming ability of kids in the pool at camp, so we had to put on a lot of caps very quickly.
Thank you so much for complimenting us Kris, it's sad that we can never have the words the express just how amazing you are
Who else appreciates Kris’ compliments as much as me, I had a pretty bad day and it just got to me today, thank you, also you are gorgeous, to Kris and everyone reading this
ive rewatched this so many times but im finally commenting
the pant-float-life preserver thing actually works! i took a junior lifeguard class as a kid and one of the tests was taking denim jeans and making a life saving thing out of it.
The amount of dirty humor in this video was making me laugh so hard. Thank you Kris for making such amazing content. And thank you for always complimenting us at the start of every video. You're such a sweetheart and the world needs more people like you. :))
10:28 can you eat aloe? Yes. I'm from a country that does, but it is extremely bitter and slimy, so we kinda use it as a mild medication (especially kids who OD on sweet stuff)
So can you? Yes. Should you? At your own risk.
50 K likes?? you're making it too easy for us :P you're awesome kris, looking forward to you trying these out hehe- honestly you just have this calming vibe that nowadays i find i can't go on without.. sometimes i watch your old videos when I'm down and it just cheers me right up?? thanks for everything
Y not watch new vids
@Dev Mae I mean if she hasn't posted on a particular day then I watch her old vids.. Especially the character ones, always manage to cheer me up
Kris is littrally my spirit animal🤪✨🩷💅
The pants life vest is actually something learned by coast guards I believe. It works I've just never seen the beating water to get air in, always scoop the air instead.
Most branches use the same technique. The splashing works, albeit slowly, but the technique I and many I know like is to go under water and blow air in to the pants, pop up and breathe, and repeat till full. Much faster that way.
@@crackerjack03 I learned that inflate clothing technique in life guard training back in the 1970s.
It is taught in training and does work excellently if you're lost at sea, but is not the fastest way to save your drowning friend.
I just loved the name that she used as an example...yeah.
I learned it in the Army... but u just swipe quickly from over ur head and it inflates it enough to keep u afloat.
I love how she just posted this video yesterday and it already has over 100k likes 😂 Guess it’s balloon time 🤣🤣🤣 btw love your videos Kris ❤️✨
Balloon time ?
Happy Birthday Kris!

Balloon Time indeed I’m excited to see!
I love it, how the solution to 90% of the problems 5MinuteCrafts show would be: "just dont be stupid" and their doing more stupid possible dangerous stuff to make it even worse.
Love your reactions to this type of content
XD
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The way you said summertime fills me with so much joy and serotonin
When i was younger I was obessed w survival videos, and the pants technique has saved several lives
Yes but the pants have to be like military or water proof/resistant
@@amandakolberg2419 Im pretty sure jeans should work
I love how positive she is even if she doesn’t feel good 😊
11:21 love the combination of Riley and the British accent lol
9:47 I love the smell of dryer sheets. My friends know (and this is seriously not a joke, I really do this) if they need a dryer sheet or two they can just ask me and I’ll pull one out of my pocket. I’m seriously always carrying them around.
10:55 I definitely didn’t see that one coming 😂😂 haven’t laughed that hard for a while 🤣
it's really nice watching Kris because you know you'll get the best compliments from her that could make your day wonderful
thank you Kris I love ya❤️

I actually can say that, while it takes longer (definitely not 5 minutes), the single large ice cube takes longer to melt compared to a bunch of tiny ice cubes. Also, some water bottle heads are too small to put ice cubes through (I have one, it’s annoying when I want cold water), so starting out with water, freezing it sideways so you can still fill it up while having the ice evenly distributed, is actually a cool hack
Yeah I tryed one and it took a day!!!!!
But it did work!!!😁
As a swimmer, the cap hack does work.
Let's give 100 K likes guys...... !!!
Kris is gonna mesmerize us with her 5 minute skills
I always find it enjoyable when kris just loses her brain cells watching 5 minute crafts. keep it up kris.
Let's appreciate Kris for still being able to entertain us and she somehow knows how to make our day better every time she uploads. Thank you for being such a global legend queen ❤️😄
Luv this
Kris always knows how to make us laugh, even if she's losing her voice
Люблю её ❤️
I love the compliments Kris always makes me feel welcome
The fitted bedsheets hack is actually really useful for when you have babies who are just starting to crawl, keeps them contained and still gives them space to explore a bit without getting sand in their faces
Meanwhile, people like me just let their toddlers wander in the sand until they're part of the beach themselves 🤣
The swim cap hack where you fill it with water and then drop it does actually work. You just need the perfect angle to drop it from. And a friend.
I love how she got already 50k likes in like 5 hours. Can’t wait to see Kris try these 😂
It has 89k now
8:01 idk how tf you're gonna do this... fr grab all the phones and accs to like the damn video lmao I need to see kris in a giantass water balloon before I die🤣

I've used this for years and it works every time even the local marine reserve uses it.
...what does it do? Can't you just take off your goggles and dunk them under and then out them back on again? Does it make them fog proof?
@@itsnoprobllama5363 it makes it so there is no fog so you don't have to come up and take them off to make the fog go away, as that can be annoying.
but wouldnt the mint irritate youre eyes?
@@kaitlinmacleod3966 you wash it off after so it doesn't irritate your eyes.
@@tessaa8636 i get that bit but isnt there still just a like a bit that still irritates youre eyes? at least whenever ive done that the toothpaste never completely goes maybe im just doing it wrong?
Hair getting blonde in the sunlight is true! And it also works for brunettes with unique hair, my mom told me that because my hair gets blonde in the summer and im brunette and she said its quite rare so im thankful for that❤
Kris's daily compliments always brighten my day. I was having a rough time today and she made me feel a lot better thank you Kris you made my day.

@preppy girlll who?
The bed sheet is to keep sand off your sheet. Especially handy if you have a picnic on the beach or otherwise don't want people walking by to accidently kick sand onto your stuff.
Complimenting Kris time: Girl who told you that you could look this GORGEOUS in the morning?!
Omg I frickin love kris we should give her a book full of compliments!!
Kris, every time you compliment us, you are the only one who makes me feel good
Regarding freezing half your water, it actually really helps. I do this when I go out on hot days. The water stays colder much longer than if you just use ice cubes. I tend to freeze 2/3 of the bottle though
If you're going to do all that, you could also bring something to protect the bottle from direct sunlight.
@@protorhinocerator142 'All that'? It's literally just putting your water bottle in the freezer the night before. Like, 30 seconds' work, max.
I usually put an old sock on the bottle. Keeps the sun's radiation away from the ice longer.
Only needs to last long enough to get somewhere to get a new pair of pluggers
as an australian, i came here to say the same thing
