Good morning! That is awesome, I really like that rig! It really is “optimized”, the setup on it is pretty damn perfect. Thanks for sharing and filming! Take care!!
Hey man I finally found a review for this badass chest rig thanks for the video 🙏 i just have one question do you think this chest rig can clip my condor dump pouch on?
You're probably better off attaching a dump pouch to a Belt, whether outer line gear or if it has its own waist strap. There's no PALS on the sides of the ECCR (putting a dump pouch on a Chest Rig is kind of awkward anyway, it should be worn/ sitting higher than what you see with a Plate Carrier). Cheers!
Nice!!! Thanks for tuning in. Danglers... personally not a fan of them (I run a fannypack/ belt pouch instead), but that is something I've heard from a couple people now.
Velcro is a gift and a curse for operational considerations yeah. It is better than Plastic Buckles for dexterity reasons (and plastic shines under NODs like crazy without dulling them), and the industry has moved away from Metal clips and snaps in large to mitigate Magnetic Mine risks in combat theaters (not so much an issue domestically). I have designed a prototype LRRP Rig I'm still trying to get to market that uses Metal Snaps and Velcro in tandem for things like fitment in Mag pouches, I see that as Optimal for various appropriate applications, but that's not the norm for the product industry these days.
@D.J. "The Metalhead Mercenary" the best answer is probably UWGear's, but he can't come close to keeping up with demand. The old Spanish Bible on the older British PLCE and don't of the Finnish pouches would be a close second. But i can't get over being issued brand new pouches with velcro so tight you had to nearly have your buddy put his foot in your chest to open your mag pouches, and by the end of deployment the velcro was useless and your flaps just hung there (and yes, this is with proper cleaning and maintenance).
@@lelandgaunt3567 The OPS CR is recommended by John/ UW Gear as a very apt alternative, he makes great stuff though for sure. I like the British Rigs and the Finnish Rigs, many good options out there based on individual needs and wants. The main complaint about Velcro I hear is the noise aspect, that's what I was getting at apart from retention and dexterity pros/ cons in the prior comment as a gift and a curse. I've had no issues with fitment with this Rig, it has expanding/ bellowing pouches so it is VERY easy to get Mags and other items in and out, have not noticed any issues with cleaning. The retention is great, very smooth. In a Desert Environment, with my Contractor kit we'd use open top pouches with retention bands/ strapping (like ATS or Condor Pouches) on a PC if we weren't running a CR, in that environment specifically those are a great choice, but not a limiting need or standard, plenty of our guys and predecessors used Blackhawk Commando and Condor Recon CR's with Velcro closure flap pouches and they worked fine. It's all preference in the end, if you don't want it, don't buy it and go with a PALS/ MOLLE system to add and configure pouches of preference as you need.
@D.J. "The Metalhead Mercenary" is I know John recommends them as an alternative, but he also designed his rugs to eliminate velcro, so he obviously sees it as inferior, and only uses it as a necessary evil in his double may pouches, though they're are other ways to skin that cat as well. I suggested one to him, but it came down to the fact it would take more time, making the backlog worse, and necessitating a price increase. As far as the noise goes, I think that unless you're clumsy, it has as much validity as the "Garand ping" problem - something no one will hear in a firefight.
@@lelandgaunt3567 I wouldn't speculate rationale unless he has explicitly stated in context for using or not using Velcro on his Rigs he makes. Yes I gave other examples in the prior comment of other options for adequate mag pouches and retention options. Retention bands/ cordage or covering flaps are the two most optimal and widely preferred means for keeping kit secure on the Rig, and there are several apt variations within those options that all work well and have efficacy. With the noise factor, it's not about during a firefight, it's pertaining to Reconnaissance and OP/ LP ops and the like (patrolling in hot sectors, certain clandestine/ covert actions, etc.) where a much heavier need for noise discipline applies, that's the contested discussion/ narrative points. I've been doing active operations as a Soldier and Contractor and Protector Professionally for almost 20 years, there are things that don't work, and that do work. This Rig among many others do work very well, and there's plenty of great options to pick from if this one doesn't suit your fancy, there is no need to debate on it or certain nuances of it's design, use what you like.
looks good but wish the pouches were removable cause its like almost exactly what I'm looking for. gladly would trade two of the double mag pouches for a 163 radio pouch and admin pouch. 4 + 1 in the gun is more than enough mags I need on my person, rest can go into the ruck but I do have to carry a radio and a sizable admin pouch which will be used waaaay more than mags. I do dig that it is built out in mind for a real ifak and 1qt water source, most of these tacti-cool chest rigs these days have neither which is crazy but those are built for the flat range and this is built for actual work.
The side Canteen/ whatever else use GP Pouches are removable, they're held on with a huge patch of velcro and retention strapping, so there's that. Experiences and preference will vary. The bellowing Mag Pouches do fit some larger radios so you could probably get away with stuffing one in one, but I'm not sure, hence why the interior-side pouches are there, they do fit MBITR and 152's and such. I prefer having all the ammo I can carry, from experience.
Much like FAL mags, you can easily fit one in each pouch, if you stretch it out you can possibly fit 2 in each but it'll be tight and offset (one sitting higher than the other a bit), can still hold 6 with the two inside pouches if just single stacking.
Yep, it holds 5.45 and 7.62x39 AK mags just fine, and I can fit 7.62 FAL Metric Mags in them too, from other users it seems like larger 7.62x51 mags like M14/ M1A and M77 mags need to stretch the pouches out a little, but they do fit too.
@@DJTheMetalheadMercenary can you double up on 5.45 mags? A big drawback for some awesome rigs is when it comes to fitting ak mags the double turns into singles :/
@@triplesixphonk3502 I don't know honestly, I only have/ run a 7.62x39 AK at times. if 5.45 mags are a similar thickness to AR/ STANAG or PMAG thickness, you will be able to fit 2 each pouch, otherwise if they're more like standard AK/ 7.62 mags, you can at least run up to 6 still at a minimum.
