You deserve an Oscar for this video. In fact, you deserve all of them. At the Oscars, they should just give you a wheelbarrow full of Oscars, and then tell everybody else to leave.
Once again... Alexis G. Zall produces something GENIUS and WAY over many people's heads... and is going to be predictably UNDERRATED and UNDER-APPRECIATED... ugh
Nothing irritates me more than straights making comments along the lines of "it's not a gay love story, just a love story." *It can be gay and still be good.*
Isaac Davis haha want? I remember when gay's didn't want to have to label everything about gay's, gay. Now, it's the reverse apparently? I'm BI and make music. Should I fucking label my music and myself as BI? That's fucking so lame to me. I'd rather be labeled a musician than a bi musician. You don't label straight people like that. Cuz that's be fucking dumb.
Isaac Davis because it’s just a love story why can’t you stop separating gays from everyone else. By your logic You have a love story which is straight and a gay love story which is gay but why can’t they both just be love stories? by adding gay it’s separating the fact that the movie can be a love story without having to say “it’s a *gay* love story”. The saying is so that it would be treated like any other love story and that’s what people are looking for normalization and equality of being gay
I get what you mean by this video, but as a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I found Call Me By Your Name to be an extremely empowering movie. It is actually one of my favorite movies ever. While I do think that some of Armie and Timothee's interviews questions did focus on them being straight a bit too much, I think we have to blame the interviewers rather than the actors. And the director was the one who right away wanted Armie and Timothee for this movie. I believe they didn't even audition. And it was an independent film. I doubt either of them went into the movie with ill intent. If anything, I find their openeness to playing gay characters, when they aren't gay themselves, to be a lesson to homophobic people. There is no shame in being gay. Armie and Timothee have helped to portray that.
I'm a lesbian and I don't have a problem with straight people playing lgbt characters. Imagine if we held the same standards for straight characters. Hayley Kiyoko wouldn't get most or all of her roles and probably never would've made it at all. Actors are meant to portray people who they aren't, they're meant to be someone else or someone that they don't fully understand because it's their job. You don't become an actor to be yourself.
@Anna Lara Portraying LGBT people SHOULD be taken with care, but straight actors can do that very well. In fact, if a character is a stereotype, that usually has nothing to do with the actor, it has to do with the writers or directors, actors just act how they're told. So I do think straight people should be able to play gay characters as much as they like, it's on the directors and writers to write complex, well rounded gay characters.
yes! I loved call me by your name and I understand that casting straight characters to play gay roles is just like casting gay characters to play straight roles. But sometimes it feels like the media just cover how "ground breaking" it is for 2 straight white men to play "gay characters".. when the media could have at least tried to mention the struggles that the characters they were playing had to go through... and the daily struggles that REAL gay people have to go through in those situations. Gaaah this video was perfect.
oh oh oh 5:58 the hand holding. Must have been super hard to get that connection and depth of emotion with another dude to be able to do that. Bravo! Amazing!
The most passionate gay love story I have ever seen on screen was in Six feet under played by two straight men. Who cares. They were the best for the job.
I hope you guys work more together because I really enjoyed y'all's videos. They were hella funny but the message is very clear and it needs to be pointed out more. You both did a great job!
I mean I think that if it gets the message across and the actors can accurately play the role (which they did in call me by your name) the sexuality of the actor doesn’t matter because it does reflect the characters sexuality .
I have already commented twice but I have now watched it for the fourth time and besides the fact that this is obviously very well written the accent is amazing Alexis!
I like the approach you took to talk about this topic. It was funny while still managing to critique an issue many over look, I loved it !!!💕 also you’re hot sooo
I get this video so much... Like, stupid teenage guys in my year playing spin the bottle in a party over-sexualize two girls kissing and pressure them to kiss. At the same time, they blatantly skip or move the bottle slightly when it lands on two guys, because “two guys kissing is unimaginable and not straight enough”. That’s unfortunately how shitty our society is... 🙄 I love your content, Alexis! Keep going! ❤️🙌🏽
does anyone know the name of the song that was playing when gordo and patrice were about to get shipped off? i really like it :) update: it’s “farewell life” by nights amore and arn andersson
wish being gay would be as easy as just finding passion in the bottom of a well

Same
As opposed to finding it in a dark room or down a dark alley. ''Don't go in the bushes'' lol

Alexis G. Zall I love love this comment.
Once again... Alexis G. Zall produces something GENIUS and WAY over many people's heads... and is going to be predictably UNDERRATED and UNDER-APPRECIATED... ugh
Lauren pretty sure everyone gets it

pelleman02wb But it is movie about two guys falling in love. It is a gay love story.
pelleman02wb true story
Isaac Davis because it’s just a love story why can’t you stop separating gays from everyone else. Its the implication that a gay love story cant have universal appeal so people feel the need to be like its not just for gays! Its just a love story!
Nils’ surname changing each time he said made me laugh so hard
Living for these zall/Dunn collabs!
Guess I’m gay afterall
“And a boom”
Every time you post another part of my depression gets washed away by cold car wash water
I love you for this comment

yeah but why should a mainstream lgbtq+ movie have to involve grooming?????
I completely agree.
yes
I agree. I felt like this video kinda invalidated the value of CMBYN. It was an amazing film, and you’re correct, Timothee and Armie did not audition.
calmingdarkwind ' yeah but wasnt he a 17 year old?
I really liked Call Me By Your Name but oml this is brilliant
i see them timothee chalamet brows
the interviewer is kinda hot
i cant believe you got ACTUAL timothy chalamet to feature in this!!!!
lmao please continue reading hollywood you're both so good at it 😹
Thank you!

Guys they’re straight!! Don’t forget they’re straight!!

The most passionate gay love story I have ever seen on screen was in Six feet under played by two straight men. Who cares. They were the best for the job.

This video is so slept on, this needs to go viral
I honestly gasped when I heard Chase Atlantic at the end because none of my friends like them 😂
Kelsey Woollett what song from Chase Atlantic was that?
Jillian Reinhart it's called okay
“After this traumatic experience”
I didn’t realize this was about my love life
I mean I think that if it gets the message across and the actors can accurately play the role (which they did in call me by your name) the sexuality of the actor doesn’t matter because it does reflect the characters sexuality .
That accent tho lol I feel like Alexis has been watching Killing Eve lol
ब

I have already commented twice but I have now watched it for the fourth time and besides the fact that this is obviously very well written the accent is amazing Alexis!

I get this video so much... Like, stupid teenage guys in my year playing spin the bottle in a party over-sexualize two girls kissing and pressure them to kiss.
