These old viennese pianos can be so good when they're in good condition. They sound very distinct, very rich and very powerful.

I did not expect that sound from that piano! It growls.

I have one of these. Almost exactly the same. 140 years old and still going!

That old grand has life in it. You choose a good one to rebuild.

Any hope of getting a video with the Viennese action removed? That would be amazing. The dampers look like something similar to a square Grand. Very well done! This truly is a labor of love!

These old pianos are amazing and they do have warmer sounds than the modern ones.
I have an A. Proksch old grand piano built in Reichenberg Germany very similar to the one in the video it is 6.5 feet long the color is pyramid mahogany, the dampers are above the strings, and all the strings are parallel to each other, and according to its serial number it was built around 1875 and still working perfectly it is in an excellent condition.
The only problem with the Viennese key action pianos is that they need a professional technician to deal with them carefully.
So please accept my regards for what you did with this piano You really made an amazing job.

Fantastic work! I have some questions, the wire that You put in it is the actual rosleau wire or an special type of wire? The bass strings are special too? And the pitch? Is 440? The hammers are refelt by Abel? Or they are a new set by? Thanks a lot, And greetings from México!

Very good work and interesting video🤩, Brilliant sound, but also missing s little bit the soft murmuring sound of the leather capped hammers,…

True, the modern hammers sound harsh on this piano. Also, the Viennese action worked better with much lighter hammers. Otherwise works of Hummel, Czerny etc. couldn't be played on them. The mistake was to put on heavy hammers while keeping the same mechanism.

Beautiful instrument, but you could have tuned it before the video!

I worked on one of these pianos once and made the mistake of pulling the action out in the customers home. Had to use all of my power to swoop it back in!!!
