Keith Richards ( Lead Guitar) Charlie Watts (Drums) Mick Jagger (Lead Vocal) Recorded at Olympic Studios as a Jam song in December 1968 it was a Rehearsall for the Rolling Stones Rock N Roll Circus because they did not play Live since early 1967
May I recommend a fantastic book, though 600 pages, titled, "Old Gods Almost Dead." It has recorded every single event in the history of The Stones from 1962 thru the early 90's. Great reading if you are a Stones fan.
The stones ❤️ have another hidden gem 💎 in the vault 🎉🎉. They need to bring this music 🎶 🎵 to the forefront and start playing it cause it's sounding absolutely mind blowing 🎉🎉
I read Marrianne Faithfull's book and Life by Keith. I never said he did not do drugs. He did his share alright but was smart enough to back away at some point. When you look at the early 60's drugs were every place. As Keith said in his book as we approached the 70's the drugs available were not good quality compare to the stuff they took in the 60's. I am just glad that they are still around. Yes you were 100% correct that they were on acid during Rock and Roll Circus.
This is an absolute correct statement Sir. Even little old housewives in the States could get whatever they wanted to from ol' Dr Robert. No ID needed, or federal watchlist, no sir.
Recorded June 26 - 28, 1968, never released. Vocals:Mick Jagger Guitars: Keith Richard Bass: Brian Jones Drums: Charlie Watts According to Keno's Stones.
Very cool!!!! .....kinda got a Iggy and the Stooges sound/style.... Except THIS is way before Iggy and the Stooges!!! The Stones were always trailblazers of style/ foresight! I can only hope more of these unreleased gems come out
@gregorybromley1544 No it isn't! The Stooges formed in '67 and by '68 were an established act, at least in Michigan. Time to brush up a bit on yer rock history...
A bit of beefing up and a guitar solo or two thrown in and this would have fitted in brilliantly on any of the Stones' deluxe re-issues. With it being pre-1971, maybe ABKCO have made this too difficult, because I can't think of any other reason why they haven't done it. It's too good.
I think when u see dislikes on gems like this, it's gotta be that some no name band had a song called highway child n their loser fans come across this n automatically dismiss it even tho it was probably performed 10 years before the other band were even born
oh yea I can hear his" innocent never touched a drug, high road, who me," voice in dead flowers, monkey man,one of my favorite R.S.songs, or can't you hear me knockin. He been there but was smart enough to choose his his GOD givin talent over dope
Mick Jagger was NOT a big drug user, nor a drinker. I know people think so but he was not into it. I just read Marrianne Faithfull's book with David Dalton. She make this very clear about Mick. In the early days he did do LSD ( who did'nt) but he took the high road. Maybe why he is in the great shape he is today.
+Robert Cross Hello there, this was the information on the Keno.org Stones website, who are usually pretty good., but hey, they could be wrong. All I do really know is that BB album was the last BJ contributed to many of the tracks.
I got this song and a few others from the Beggars Banquet R.S.V.P edition. It also got Blood red wind,Family, Jumpin Jack Flash,And I Was A Country Boy, downtown Lucie, And Still A fool
Thank you so much for promoting this little slice of history here. Maybe next time, a higher bitrate? Art of this calibre really deserves the least loss, doncha think?
Die Song´s die von den Stones veröffentlicht wurden ist die Spitze des Eisbergs. Mit all den unveröffentlichen könnten sie noch mehrere Alben füllen. .....auch das erste mal gehört.
I wish that todays instruments sounded like this! There's is a Spanish rock band from Chile called Los Bunkers and they actually started a movement in all of Latin America!......Their instruments and their harmonies, along with loud drums and distorted guitars sound like THE KINKS AND THE BEATLES CHECK'EM OUT!!
What's sad about great songs not making the cut or included on albums is simply because they don't fit in the pacing of an LPs other cuts. This why Tom Waits & Bob Dylan have so many extra songs leftover. Sometimes they think they can toss it into the next LP but by that time 2-3 years have passed & they've gone beyond the tune or style. But if you listen to this song, as good as it is, you can tell it's not finished. It's not polished & needs work for a commercial release. Lots of great songs have potential but it's a tricky method to get songs to fit on an LP properly. Many 12 track LPs start out with 30 songs or more written for the LP. The only time that theory doesn't work is when an artist who writes their own material starts sticking covers on their LP. If you're a serious artist like the Rolling Stones or a Dylan.
Think start me up, knocked around as reggae circa 75 and waiting on a friend originally created in 72 ish, most of the tattoo you album 81 was knocked up from unfinished leftovers, big tours and especially them as it couldn't be bigger needed an album to promote it hence the fine tattoo you job
@@ferm8103 - You're right about that. At least the Stones realized "Start Me Up," would work better as a full-throttle rock song rather than reggae. Revisiting old material can be fun & applying a new twist can bring life to the toss-offs. Sometimes, the song doesn't fit but will further down the road. I had a famous musician friend who said he never threw anything away. John Prine in a CBS interview several years ago even brought out 3 storage boxes with incomplete stuff, toss-offs, rejects & things he said he would revisit from time to time. I'm glad the Stones brought "Start Me Up," out of mothballs. It's one of my favorites.
Mick, Keith and Woody should go back and revisit this one. With just a little..um, fixing up, it'd be as good as say.."All Down the Line". This song is almost to the finish line.
@SatanicMajesty are you sure you like the stones, your majesty? this is one of your faves? this doesn't sound very stones to me (more like; "the who meets steppenwolf") -- "gimme shelter", "sympathy...", "jumping jack...", "brown sugar", "sway", "moonlight mile", "beast of b..." (not even "fingerprint file", or "2000 light...") -- offhand, i can't think of any stones that sounds like this track -- maybe you like it for the novelty?

RIP Charlie Watts
Stimmt.

It is a good tune. Thanks for posting it. I never heard it before.

Ah Jimi Hendrix had a song called highway child that was actually about keith richards and it came out before this
Sam Ciravolo i see
Lol
Kick ass rock in jam
SEÑORES Y SEÑORAS
THE ROLLING STONES
Has a sound of early and later Stones.
Cool jam
When we're all dead and gone... Keith will sort it out
Can somebody please do a compilation of all the rarities of this kind!? Thanks!
isso é rock n' roll de primeira qualidade rapá....
Los mejores.
I wish this song could've been released
Also, anyone notice how some of the lyrics sound similar to the extended version of "Bitch" ?

Wow, there's a certain prehistoric punkiness to it.
Exactly, my friend
The original punks
Punkiness? Green Day depth. Around block.
I Don’t Know The Reason Why is their best outtake from this period!
Always sounds like the STONES

But it was Mick, not Keith to have heart surgery (it surprised me too).
mick was definitely a coke addict by this time
Im thinking if Im Ford Or GMC or any freaking car company, I'd call the Stones and ask to use this song! What a tune!
truer words were never spoken
Wow
♥♥♥
This has to be Charlie’s & Keith’s best ever.
All Keef!
It'd be pretty cool if someone would upload the whole album... hint hint....
Even the stones outtakes are better than most band's songs

+wincanton2 Are you sure Brian on bass? This was during the time period that Brian was a frequent "no show" for recording sessions.
+Robert Cross Hello there, this was the information on the Keno.org Stones website, who are usually pretty good., but hey, they could be wrong. All I do really know is that BB album was the last BJ contributed to many of the tracks.
No Bass on this cut. Mick, Keith and Charlie.
Brian did not play bass on anything. Keno's book is full of inaccuracies.
Keno's book is not a good authority. It is full of inaccuracies. Brian was not present when this was cut and neither was Bill.
I got this song and a few others from the Beggars Banquet R.S.V.P edition. It also got Blood red wind,Family, Jumpin Jack Flash,And I Was A Country Boy, downtown Lucie, And Still A fool

Two awesome songs by two artists.
"Highway Child" by Stones and "Highway Chile" by Hendrix.

they are just jamming.
Interesting I had a dream about rocks coming upon England last night. It also had a connection with Poland. Rev 6:16.
