  • From executive producers Tom Brady, Gotham Chopra, and Michael Strahan, Religion of Sports' "Hold Fast" follows American rock climber and mountaineer Conrad Anker and his mentee, cancer survivor Alex Wildman, as they attempt to scale El Capitan in Yosemite, California.
Conrad Anker is one of the greatest and most notorious professional mountain climbers in history. But at 54, his career in the big mountains is winding down, especially after suffering a heart attack on a climb high in the Himalayas. His friend Alex Wildman is a novice big-wall climber and cardiac nurse who recently recovered from stage 4 lymphoma and intense chemotherapy. With a new lease on life, Alex is hungry to return to a life in the mountains. Together, they team up to support each other on a climb up Yosemite's El Capitan, and put their traumatic brushes with mortality behind them.

This is enlightening for us all that you can be in great shape and still suffer coronary disease. I believe I will double up on olive oil consumption for a while now!

Bro crawled into his best friends bed after he passed. Sorry not sorry but him and the wife are absolute trash with how low brow that is.

That is a situation that might be best to leave untouched. It’s extremely personal and different people would feel quite differently about that situation.

Wow dude???? Just wow???? What world do you live in where your mind thinks this way? I would be very happy if a good friend stepped in to take care of my wife and kids upon my death. Yet your mind thinks it’s a bad thing????. Why?

@@73splittbf to original commenter, he’s probably thinking you can look after your best friend’s wife and children without marrying and sleeping with her. VIN Diesel looked after his best friend’s daughter without marrying her mother but hey grief works in mysterious ways and I’m sure religion, culture, upbringing shapes our morals and outlook on life. It’s a very sensitive topic and there’s a lot none of us will know or fully understand as we’re not in those shoes but clearly Lowe’s wife kept the name Lowe after marrying Anker and so there’s a deep love with the trio and with it deep grief all round.

@@DK.448 I can only say I would be grateful if a friend stepped in to take care of my wife and children after my death. If it was just a sexual relationship then I would wholeheartedly agree it is very egregious and disgusting, but we aren’t just talking about sex now are we. Conrad took on the entire role of husband and father with the responsibility that goes with that role, that is far more righteous and commendable then just hopping in the sack with your dead friends wife.

@@73split I don’t know what is the definitive right or wrong answer as there’s way too many factors in play here to be so black and white. I love mountaineering and I know the risks. I’d put all the paperwork in place so my family are taken care of financially in my demise and I’d hope my partner would find a new love especially if they’re young and go make something of their lives whether it be an expanded family, career or both etc. I live in London where there is plenty of fish in the sea and I’d hope my partner would meet someone that wasn’t a carbon copy of me that enjoys taking risks etc so they wouldn’t have to go through grief again but then again another mountaineer that would understand my partner’s grief and even more so a mutual friend that’s a mountaineer that also had their grief in losing me maybe be the best persons for each other. It’s SO grey.
Having said this, if a mountaineering friend passed away and asked me to take care of their family, I would step up and give financial and moral, emotional support and help raise the kids but would I sleep with their partner? If the friend that passed away was like a brother to me, sleeping with their partner would feel incestuous in my head. I just hope I’m never ever in Lowe / Lowe / Anker’s situation.
