Great video tutorial! This guy is a British doppelganger of a friend of mine that I played with 30 years ago. He was (and still is) one of the finest guitar players I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I have encountered few guitar players in my 30 years of being professional musician who had such a fluid style and keen awareness of a guitar neck. Not only does this guy look almost exactly like my friend, he tells stories like him, plays like him and even has a very similar sense of humor. Uncanny!

I simply had to lean this for a gig. It was exactly what I needed to get it down fast and still have the "signature licks" covered. I appreciate how you explained the reasons you think that one way is perhaps better than another. You catching that big 5 chord being a sus for a second make me say, "I trust this man's ear" and only another guitarist will understand how playing it right/wrong the first time made me grin from ear to ear.

Ahh Master Sped! Brilliant as usual, but I have a question. If you will, what is your opinion on Canadian guitarist extraordinaire Frank Marino? Enquiring minds want to know.
At first, I wasn't quite sure of your teaching style. But quickly I found it to be thourough and patiently delivered in easy bite size chunks. You began to grow on me, like a mold. Especially the part where you said be nice in the comments, because they're my comments. After that I was hooked like a 12 pound bass on a steel leader.

I had been playing this song for many years in a much ,much simpler fashion. You have breathed new and exiting life to this Zep. classic. As always ...you ARE the conduit to Jimmy , Sped. Ahh It feels so satisfying to learn it proper, and give all my emotion into my Les Paul....really stuck in proper and I cant wipe the grin off my face as I am chipping away at the song.

I revisited the Black dog lesson earlier and scrolled straight to the harmony part. I had it close but I knew I didn’t quite have it right. Scrolled directly to the right bit and got the info I needed quickly without having to listen to too much dribble. Love it Sped. Very nice! A lot of people don't capture the little nuances of Jimmy's playing. Some people think they are mistakes. I think they are what makes Jimmy unique.
I agree, he's a master of rhythm. It's like he knows what his main idea is or was and just gets in the zone and plays off the other musician. Vibing is the best way to describe it.
Just discovered your channel. I've been playing this song for years and I don't play exactly as you do but I've kept some of mine and pinched a bit of yours for a better performance. Many thanks. I'm looking forward to checking out your back catalogue.
Love this! I’ve had comments in the past where people complain it’s not the way they do it or it’s wrong. As I mentioned it’s the way I play it and if people like it, great. I love that you’ve taken pieces of my puzzle and made them fit yours. Have fun. ❤️
I came for a lesson of the classic Led Zeppelin hit in the prime of my life by a Wizard packing heat, a well played Les Paul Standard resplendent with Wizard head gear. I was not disappointed, the Wizard's got game!

Awesome Sped Spedding, watching from South Africa. I Love your channel and Led Zeppelin
Awesome thank you! Hello all the way to South Africa 🇿🇦!!
Maestro absolutely fantastic
Have fun. ❤️
I’m watching a doc on the Hindenburg & scrolling YT. Then this pops up. Awesome.
The algorithm has thrown us both a bone there. Haha.
You make THE BEST guitar lesson videos! 🎸
I came for a lesson of the classic Led Zeppelin hit in the prime of my life by a Wizard packing heat, a well played Les Paul Standard resplendent with Wizard head gear. I was not disappointed, the Wizard's got game!
You’re damn right this wizard’s got game. 🤣🤣
Thanks for the wonderful comment /short story! 🙏🏻🎉
Thanks for the memories! And... showing how play the notes, I'll be working on this, thanks again!
Have fun with it, my pleasure. 🙌🏻
Thanks for this! Best lessons on youtube, easy to folow and love how you show multiple ways of playing it, and info on Jimmy as well. One of first songs I learned to play fully
Glad it was helpful!
I bought IV when it came out and always liked this tune. Nice lesson and clear explanations. Thanks for posting!
That's cool. Do you still have the same copy you bought? Glad you liked the lesson!
@@SpedSpedding I wish. Had 100's most all classic vinyl from 60-early 80's. Sold for peanuts before the rebirth of vinyl. Somebody out there has them to enjoy. Keep Rock'in!!
Love your videos! You have definitely made me a better player. Plus your humor is killer.
Made my afternoon thoroughly enjoyable, Sped. Greetings from Boston, MA, USA. I appreciate what you do, here. Thank you!
That’s cool, love that I’m blasting out of a screen half way around the world on a Saturday. 😂🇺🇸
I'm always inspired to pick up my guitar and follow along with your lessons. Thank you
Amazing to hear. Keep it up!
No better Zeppelin lessons then Sped! I’ll be working on this for a bit, but definitely learning from a master. Thanks Jimmy for the tune and thanks Sped for the lesson!
So cool Brent. You’re welcome. 🙏🏻
Your the man, any zeppelin tune i want to learn i go to you. One of the best teachers in my humble opinion. Thanks for your tim
You’re welcome! Thanks for learning with me.
love your video/lesson. It's on my list of learns, once I get my post stroke left arm completely back. just having trouble getting my brain to move my fingers to the G maj shape but I'll get there eventually.
Wow, wishing you all the best with your recovery. Edwin Collins went through the same thing didn’t he? I also have a friend who has an MS attack and had a tough recovery road. Stay focused and strong, you’ll get it. 🙌🏻
I am 71 years old, got my first guitar when I was 69 and have been trying to teach myself to play song I enjoyed when I was younger. Life long Zeppelin fan, just found you the other day. Opened a whole new world to me. Thanks, Do you ever do anything on a acoustic guitar?
I do indeed Terry! Nice to know I've opened that door for you, absolutely magic! Check out my lesson on Over The Hills and Far Away or the recent Babe I'm Gonna Leave You video?
Thanks! Now to practice it and get the section changes smooth! Cool!!
You’re welcome as ever. That fluency between the different sections everything will make all the difference. Have fun!
Just discovered your Chanel. BRILLIANT- definitely will be following you from now on.
Thanks James! Good to have you here. 💪🏻
Led zeppelin 4 "ruins"was my first record my nanna bought it for me and said she loved it when i asked what she thought of it 🤗 love you nanna , thanks sped !
Sounds like a very cool Nanna! Was it a surprise or did you ask for it? ✨🙌🏻
@@SpedSpedding nan offered after we went into a music shop " go on pet " so I did , addicted since
Yes, and I still have my original Zep IV LP purchased in 71-72. In fact I think I have most (not Coda) of theirs on the original vinyl. I absolutely wore out Physical Graffiti, what an album that one is.
Great lesson. I like how you slowly break each part down.
Thank you. Listening to subscribers over the years has “led” me to this kinda style. The more I’ve listened the less I’m trolled. 😂😂🙌🏻
Dude. Glad to have found an avid zep fan 🤘🏽. Thank you for sharing your talents 👍🤘🏽🙏
My pleasure! Glad you like what you have found so far, I try my best to make the videos entertaining and informative. Have fun!
yes you are good, and i do enjoi your lessons very much.🙂 thank you
Absolutely fantastic. Just happened to stumble upon your channel and I'm hooked.
Buckle up Blake. I don't know why, it's not about to get rough, I just wanted to say something cool and cinematic. Thanks for the compliment, talk again soon!
Another great lesson. Thank you. I’ve been working on this one and this helps put some things together and gives me some different (better) options to play certain parts that what I’ve been using. Thanks again.
My pleasure Kevin. Yeah that’s the point; you can use whatever bits you like.
Brilliant as always 👏 Your tone though is just so spot on.
Thank you David, just running into a plexi amp sim on Bias. Rolled back a lot of treble on this one, he had a mid honk thing going on.
Hi, I stumbled on your video today. I'm so happy I did. Best from Canada.
Hello all the way to Canada! 🇨🇦 I’m glad you found it too. There’s loads more stuff of a similar nature so have fun. Ciao
Clear, concise, and MUSICAL. Thank you!.
Amazing, thanks so much for this. Everything I try to be. 🙌🏻🎉
The detail in these videos is so good.
Thank you Mal. This was a big video when I first put it out, reached a whole new audience with it. Glad you think the extra detail is of value!
@@SpedSpedding the rake to the A note and over bar of the E is fantastic! Of course I immediately pulled out the track and had a listen. So spot on. You can’t find these kind of a little nuggets anywhere. Take care man and thanks again!!
Legendary!! Been playing this wrong for years, thanks for showing me the way.
My pleasure! Hope you have fun with it.
@@SpedSpedding Any chance of Achilles Last Stand?
I love you like a brother mate!🤣 Thanks for more Zep! Really appreciate the differences between recorded and live, awesome.
Haha, thank you!! ❤️ You’re welcome, glad you like my style and the insight. Working on more stuff all the time.
Excelent class my friend! Every little emotion explains in notes of love that who loves Led Zeppelin. Thanks s o much dude.
You’re welcome Bruno, thanks for learning with me.
Very good indeed and also really easy to figuratate and memorize your shapes. This a must song to play and enjoy!
It really is, you can get into a nice groove and it doesn't throw too many tricky problems your way which we all know is sometimes the case with Zep. 😂
@@SpedSpedding I forgot to say how nice is the cover page of your video, Speddalf! 🙂
fantastic job the rain song mate..your in the dude club, an am all excited to get into this one . cheers dude 🥃
That’s the kind of end transition I’m talking about!!!!! Yessss!!! That’s why I come here!! Also for the amazing lessons too, that helps.
Hahaha imagine only subscribing all this time, just to see if my transitions get better. 😂😂😂
@@SpedSpedding yeah I don’t even play guitar or like Led Zeppelin… I just have a transition fetish. Don’t judge me
😂😂😂 Let’s just say there’s a few more coming.
*gets lotion ready* …ok I’ve taken this joke too far.
Thank you Sir. Very well explained!
Most welcome! Glad you liked it.
pretty cool how "Planty" calls Sped on the tele.....great lesson bro...thank you
You're amazing and so talented, great tutorial and song choices! I applaud!
Thank you Alfred, lovely comment. Glad the lesson was right for you! 🔥🙌🏻
First time visiting.
I'll be back.
Great job man. Excellent class.
Next time you’re here I’ll have my clothes, boots and motorcycle waiting for you. 🤘🏻💀
Sick lesson matee!! I say it every time, but that colour grade is 🖤
Thank you mate! It's a big occasion for a big fat colour grade. I love that you always love it. It's a Bob Ross preset. 🎨

Didn't realise you were a Zep fan, Soph
Dude i hate to tell you this but you’re very talented and easy to follow
Great stuff - love playing Zep
This is one of the first Zep tunes I was able to figure out by ear. 40 years later I find out I was (mostly)right!
How cool is that! I have revisited stuff I worked out by ear as a kid and fill in gaps, change little bits. It’s cool. It’s like modding a classic car. 🙌🏻😂
Another fantastic Zeppelin lesson ..the attention to detail is excellent .. great the way you explain everything .. best Zep lessons on here I reckon .. looking forward to many more Zep lessons on here .. 'Wanton Song' maybe or ' or your life' off Presence .. great stuff ..well done !
My pleasure! Stoked that you dig my style, I teach my video lessons exactly the same way I teach one to one. Try to keep them conversational, fun and educational at the same time!
... I have always played the main (1st) riff on the E/A Sped (Malcom Young style) I find it more economical on movement.... I have learnt something new to improve though. Love this one and love playing it.
Well done, Sped!!! Bob from Spokane Valley, WA USA
Thanks Bob! Glad you liked it! 🇺🇸
I always come to you for Zeppelin tunes. Thank you so much! love from Oz. 🤘🏻
Hello all the way to 🇦🇺! Thanks for always choosing to learn with me, lemme know how you get on with the lesson!
Looking forward to Oz visiting one day. ☀️
@@SpedSpedding I shall. I’ll give it a crack tomorrow. I started learning it a few months ago, but I think your way will be make it sound much tidier. 😊 Awesome. I’m sure you’ll love it, it’s so beautiful. Summer is shit though. Even I hate it, and I was born here. 😂 😜
@@emilyt138 Your summer is my winter right?! 😂🥶🥶🥶

@@SpedSpedding Hey dude, so I gave this a go and it’s heaps better already! 🤘🏻😎 Thanks so much!🥰
Always a pleasure to learn and after playing over you , this song appeard always a bit strange to me and now everything is clear . Many thanks.
Music to my ears, and music to your fingers. I love hearing about peoples success' after a video! Keep it up!
