  • The foundation walls for our Modern Farmhouse build are made out of concrete blocks and then core filled with concrete to make a solid concrete wall without all the concrete forms and A LOT of concrete. Vertical and Horizontal rebar is also in place with Bond Beam Blocks every 3rd course to really make sure these walls will hold up to all that pressure when it all gets filled in.
Who We Are: A family building a Ranch from Scratch in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas - Jason, Kristen and our daughter Makayla. We started with just bare land... and built roads, brought in utilities, built a Barndominium for temporary living quarters (future guest house), put up fencing, got some horses and chickens, started a garden, and started our country living. Now we are onto having our main house built, a Modern Farmhouse.

Crawlspace is the way to go. Cheaper plus if u ever have issues with pipes you have easy access to them rather than digging up floors and concrete

There are pros and cons to both and we weighed them very carefully before making our decision. Different parts of the country have different climates, codes, materials, costs, and methods for construction, and for us and our situation the elevated concrete slab was the better choice. Thanks for watching.
