The only movie which made me cry and gave a sleepless night. Love to all Nawal, Jeanne & Simon out there.
I advise you to watch a movie called capernaum and you will cry, the movie is also in Lebanon
Everybody seems to miss the grandiosity of the scene where Jeanne explains the Collatz conjecture : every positive integer leads to a sequence that ultimately ends in the number two reducing to the number one. I never noticed how genius that is till I watched the movie a second time.
I dont know if I can watch this movie again. Maybe for study or maybe after a couple of years..
Indeed, also the professor warning the new students, just before introducing the daughter (assistant), of the unsolvable problems and stigma from one's peers that come with pure mathematics.
This movie puts all Hollywood movies to shame. What a movie. As heart-wrecking and shocking it is, it delivers a beautiful, deep meaning. I had to sit still for 15 minutes after it finished just to rearrange my head. I highly recommend it.
1xXxIceGirlxXx1 Same here, I Finished watching it yesterday but I am still rearranging my head. Strange World !!!
1xXxIceGirlxXx1 If you like this than watch Dirty Pretty Things and Eastern Promises.
EisforEvil thank you. i'll check them out :)
1xXxIceGirlxXx1 Yeah they're from a writer(not director) named Steven Knight. Both of them are foreign films with everyday people being introduced into some sort of unusual crime world. The characters and the stories are poetic. If I didn't know any better I would think Steven Knight wrote Incendies.
I don't know these movies but Incendies is not bout "unusual crime world" it's about everyday life in too many parts of the Middle East. Wake up. This is not entertainment, it's almost documentary --reporting, excepted the plot, which makes it a masterpiece.
One of the deepest, most dramatic and most meaningful films that i have ever seen. The story haunted me for years. After some time i re-watcht it. Highly recommend it, it is a true masterpiece.
Just watched the movie and realised that this movie puts all the high budget hollywood movies into shame
What a story! What a plot twist
Highly recommended 🌹
The ending gave me chills and goosebumps ❤️ Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰
Deeply honored that our film are reaching out to Pakistani audience. Khayal rakhna mera Bhai
Just watched it. Its jaw dropping yet scary ending made me amazed at how good of a director and writer Denis is. I watched all his English movies and I couldn't get myself to watch a French one for some reason but after reading comments I did and I can safely say that I should have done it long time ago as it's one of the best movies I watched in recent years. Don't think about it and don't watch this trailer as it could spoil some good moments.
yoooooooooooooo this movie was crazyyyyyyyy 10/10
This film is unbelievable.
The most shocking movie I have ever watched. There are so many twists that it is hard to grab at the end. Highly recommended.
Watch oldboy
Denis is genius.this one is no different from his other movies.just brilliant.
What else dose he do because I’d very much love to check more of his work out now after watching and looking this sooooo very MUCH!!!
Best Canadian movie ever!
When favorite movie lists were scratched and rewritten with this one as top of the list...
The shots are beautiful! My favorite is when the children were running/hiding in the destroyed town.
Yeah those were great SHOTS indeed.
wow i must say the ending was totally mind blowing i would have never in a million years imagine that damn this movie is good!!!
At first I thought this is just a war film but at the end,, oh my god didnt expect that to happened
breathtaking... sick ending... mind blowing...
What a movie. Haunts you for a longtime. I was just thinking, as a mother, i would have never ever Send my kids to a one way trip
This movie is really good movie , you dont know human with you live. ending movie surprise .
It’s based on a play and the play is AMAZING!!!! Everyone should read it at least once
Does the play have the same name?
The last part was sick.
Got a tattoo of this movie on my neck... Those who are looking at comments to judge whethee movie is worth watching or not... Guys i got a tattoo of it on my body...and trust me i have great taste of sensible cinema.. So do watch it when there is no disturbance around..u cant find better than it
One of the BEST movies ive ever had the experience to view... screen Canada... thank you... it has haunted me to... i will never forget this story, genius..❤

I have nothing to say about it! I'm speechless, no way that was the end
the best movie ever
I heard this had an “interesting” ending, so I read the plot on Wikipedia 😂
Oh, boy. I probably should’ve watched it first. Very interesting indeed.
Unbelievable story 😢
Best film I have ever seen
Baap of all masterpieces...
Warning : There is no way to drive out this movie from your head.
Avertissement : Il n'y a aucune façon de chasser ce film de vos rêves.
Oldboy is way similar to this movie. But both movies differs in their own way. Goodluck.
great movie!!
hızır bu filmi izleyecek
Amazing ending.
Good thing I was drunk when I watched this. Nonetheless it was a great movie.
with moroccan actors !!! vive le maroc ❤❤
Dune trailer is coming!!
Ce film montre à quel point cette guerre était dégueulasse 🤢
Im here coz shin haesun recommend this movie
From Bangladesh
Coming from Incendies a play of Mouawad.....
Just watched this magnificent movie.
Hard to process what I saw.
Great movie.
There are two phases in human life:
1. When you haven't seen Incendies and don't understand why people recommend it
2. When you watch Incendies and begin to recommend it to everyone
I think this is the only film with very less haters1😌
get a better life
I saw the film. It wasn't all that. It wasn't lifechanging in the slightest. People in the YT comments section tend to exaggerate quite a bit. The film was just ok, and a little silly to be frank.
@@Anon-nv7bp Not lifchanging, true! Silly maybe. Then you better start to believe that life itself is the sillyiest thing ever.
The film is sheer magnificence.
I dont know if I woud just randomly recommend this to anyone
I actually thought Prisoners, Sicario and Arrival are his best films before I saw this...hahhahah.
true i was thinking the same then i watched this masterpiece
Sicario is a bad movie
I would say they are all excellent films. But Incendies is something special.
@@thesabature3121 wrong
@@thesabature3121 Very much disagree.
I finished watching it 15 min ago. Still can't get over from the ending!! :/
Highly Recommended; specially to those who love mystery movies

It's been 5 years since I watched it. I still can't get over it
It reminded me of oldboy
2 years later here I am doing the same . Masterpiece indeed.

this movie gave me depression literally for one week

@@KaneK1234 you are watching this movie. There's a picture of a lady Naked on the screen . Your wife likes it so much that she puts it on the wall. What do you do
Moi aussi 😢
The sickest movie ending I know so far
try Predestination
33rn 123 ass 2 ass
Oldboy (2003) for me.
Kind of reminded me of "Chinatown"
Try Solo 100 days of Sodom
1 + 1 = 1 and then she screamed..

Then when I understood..
I screamed!
Can you explain the meaning of that I was confused
@@mimisat7996usually 1+1 makes two but in this movie 1+1 makes 1.... Wanna spoil the twist ???
@@veer5714 yeah I've seen the movie
I had a feeling that the twist was gonna be what it was, so for me, i didn't seem to phased by it. Guess I had it figured out earlier than the reveal

Denis Villeneuve one of the greatest director of our generation him against entire hollywood anytime.
He was bad in hidden Jordan
You must be blind to not see the mistakes or maybe because I am in jordan
he's not that special
hes hollywood now
@@zarkoostojic9063 I agree, but still one of the greatest modern director imo
@@zarkoostojic9063 lol
I watched this movie like 5 years Ago with my friend .we started it uninterestedly. But towards the end, we went speechless and there was silence for a long time in our room.its rather a disturbing yet incredibly directed.it definitely left us disturbed for next couple of days. I just revisited this trailer, and it just refreshed my memories back again.
This is the best movie I have ever seen. It is the only movie that has ever made me cry.
.........Did you not see Pokemon the first movie?
+NunyJr LMAO
then watch capernaum if you wanna cry so bad
Dont know why
I could predict the story right from the half.
May be thatswhy i didnt shed a single tear.
I just felt bad for that mom and him.
@@josephjames7509 same here. People really dont know what else is out there if they think this is the best movie
I literally recommeded this movie to anyone I know, just to see them shattered and devastated as I was, I was really afraid then and I did need help from someone who know what it is. It was completely a soul-crushing experience. Shattered, Devastated, Slayed and Flayed alive. Rare are movies to bring out that intense emotion. A Gem.
watch mysterious skin...
I am having the same feeling. Please help
@@jyotikadeka6280 same rn 😳
I bet I can guess what part you needed help with. Something along the lines of “Dose one and one make one? Something like that, am I right? 😂 I literally had to google those words when I originally watched it, just to make sure I heard it right. I didn’t expect to actually find the answer on google but to my surprise, everyone was asking the same question!
When it comes to writing without a doubt this takes the cake, this and the series “The Leftovers” you can’t find shows like this from Hollywood, you gotta go subtitled and Spanish movies are brilliant for mystery and twist endings as well. Like the orphanage, that was just amazingly done!!!
i have never seen a movie with such a great plot
me too
Watch oldboy
iviko morchiladze seen
iviko morchiladze korean?
tarun sharma Get out of your cave and you will get to see many great things.
i think this is denis villeneuve's best work so far. this movie got me speechless and i had to pause in the middle of the movie because i was so shocked lmao. it's very.... disturbing.
Yeah people say blade runner was his best but this movie is just pure masterpiece
I loved this movie, it haunted me for days. A story beautifully told, only a testament to Villeneuve's excellence, and the bravery he had to tell a story of a foreign culture, which is always challenging.
My only concern is the language and the accent inconsistency that was present in the parts that took place in the middle east. As a person who can understand the language, it took me out of the film at times. But again, and regardless, salute to Villeneuve.
bro you just commented on this video 8 years ago and I just completed this movie today and I'm speechless I just wanted to remind you same vibe as 8 years ago peace
I had to take a 2 hour walk after this movie to clear my head...
if you're unsure about watching this movie and you're looking through
the comments to make up your mind like I do, then,
You need to watch this movie. . watch it stop hesitating :)
you'll be thankful ..
Exactly what I'm doing thnx you convinced me 😂😂
Masterpiece !
For insomniacs.
No, for any sensitive people who have open hearts.
Indeed. What a sad world we live in, what a brilliant message at the end!
coul u elaborate on the open heart remark
this is the fact of our world i'm from the middle east her we watch that every day her we are not care about our life or dead any more ! and no one feel about this is a hall not a life this a devils not human race
Shocking, though excellent movie. Recommended for anyone that wants to shed a tear or two.
Didn't see the climax at the end coming. Even with the clue of 1+1 = 1.
There are clues before actually encountering the two climaxes, got it right away but still remained shocked while seeing those scenes in person.
Rafi Chai
I didn't get it because the timelines got me confused.
The brother (and father) is always the same age while the mother is old and young at the same time and I was confused why she suddenly busted out crying when he said 1+1 = 1.
I get it now and I love the movie.
I usually like these plot twist movies but I didn't realize this movie had a plot twist. I thought it was purely emotional.
Throught the movie I was confused why the twins have not been borned yet in mom's timeline and I didn't suspect a thing until it was said.
@@scofield1154 Could you explain the 1+1 thing?
@@N.Kishore
I kinda forgot about what I was talking about but I think 1+1 = 1 refers to their search for their father and their older brother but they found out that their older brother IS their father.
@@scofield1154 yes,I just checked it out under other comments, thankyou very much, that was shocking and heart breaking
She looks like Rooney Mara.
This was a great film.
If you're referring to the daughter than I would say she looks better than Rooney Mara.
I guessed the ending correctly while the end was near and I felt sick about myself how could I even thought that.
I predicted ending during the jsil scene
Connecting with that boys look in the beginning.
Without that starting scene i would never have found that.
That's why movie wasnt heartbreaking but still painfull thinking of the mother children and evn the maaan.
Just got done watching. Great movie, definitely had me like "Whoa!!"
Just finished Dune trailer. Even after all his great work over the past years, Incendies remains my absolute favourite.
Show by hands if you went figured out the story and went OHHHHHH when Simon met Chamsedine.
This is the Villeneuve film that everyone should see!
In shock! In awe! In tears!
1+1=1
മനുഷ്യനെ മനുഷ്യനായി കാണാൻ ഈ ലോകം എന്ന് തുടങ്ങുന്നുവോ അന്നേ ഈ ലോകം നന്നാക്കൂ
I watched it last night. I couldn't sleep and kept thinking about it. That '1+1=1 scene' hit me like a hurricane. My mind went blank. I loved it but I won't be able to watch it again. Villeneuve's best!
One of the heartbreaking movie to explain how discriminations kills human’s life.
Is it wrong?
This is a masterpiece ! Based on a civil war in Lebanon
I love how it was based on it by giving out clues but still remained unnamed in this movie. This movie was sculptured to perfection.
It's also based on a play from Wajdi Mouawad but I can see that not many people know that ^^ :/
Mariana Nakfour
Is it tho ?
The side story is the civil war but it can be applied everywhere.
@@scofield1154 There are many reasons to believe so actually. First the confessional war with the christian militia being in power. The lockdown on the South. Also one of the big one is the name of the jail, it is an actual prison in Lebanon where many were tortured. Several blurred out flags in the background with the Lebanese colours. Also several clues that the refugee camps are Palestinian (the attacks on these camps are a major reason for the beginning of the Lebanese civil war): her first boyfriend (that her brother calls a refugee) is wearing a keffiyeh ; later when they talk about the attacks on camps at the uni you can see a Palestine sticker on the window.
@@HortenseLapasse I heard it loosely based on Souha Bechara's life with some changes of course.
It's great that more people are discovering this film now that Villeneuve is a household name. I think this is his true masterpiece, and that's saying a lot.
Phil Michaels I'm surprised how many English speakers already knew about this movie. I just watched it because of a Francophone class.

I’d have to say I agree with you 500%
I puked after the movie out of stress, anxiety, and how can this really be a possibilty in the real world. It's really a masterpiece.
A kind of movie that stays in your head days after
Too much of a coincidence! What a small world.

The brutality and deep drama in the Villeneuve's movies are the elements that make them pretty amazing and compelling.
This is literally a masterpiece

Such a great film, congrats to Denis Villeneuve, this is a true masterpiece
