Hello everybody, that's Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this MORryde Suspension Shackle Upgrade Kit for tandem axle trailers. Now this is a heavy duty shackle kit. It's an excellent upgrade for your trailer suspension. This will help extend the life of the trailer suspension. And this kit is designed for tandem axle trailers that use double eye leaf springs with a shackle strap length of 3-1/8".
And that is measured from the center to center. There's your 3-1/8" measurement. Now this upgrade kit replaces the shackle straps, the bushings, the bolts, and even the lock nuts on your trailer suspension system. We'll start, comes with eight of its 3-1/8" long by 1/2" wide shackle straps eight of the 9/16" diameter by 3-3/8" long wet bolts. And these are for attaching the springs to your equalizers.
Right over here, we have the six 9/16" diameter by 2-7/8" long wet bolts. And these are for suspending your equalizers and springs from the hangers. And as you can see, they all have the bronze bushings. There's 14 of the 9/16" diameter bronze bushings. That's for all the spring eyes and the equalizer bolt holes and then the lock nuts, the flange lock nuts, they use 14 of half inch size flange lock nuts.
Does come with a nice set of installation instructions that'll describe how this all goes together. Now these half inch thick shackle brackets are a lot thicker and stronger and more durable than the standard factory brackets. And as we mentioned, the bronze bushings, these use will increase durability over the standard plastic ones and the wet bolts, which are greasable bolts, this will we let you easily maintain and help minimize wear and tear versus a dry bolt. Now in a multiaxial system, the shackles are what will link the springs and equalizers in the suspension system. So basically the shackles themselves.
These will handle the most movement and weight in the suspension setup. Therefore, they are the most likely component to wear and should be checked frequently. The shackle bolts are what holds the shackle straps to your leaf springs and to your equalizers, and normally it has dry bolts, which over time could wear and fail. As we mentioned, this upgrade kit here, besides having the thicker straps, also include the wet bolts, which again are the shackle bolts that have a grease zerk fitting on the end that allows you to apply grease to the inside of the bushing and keep that wear from happening at your connection point. These zerk fittings, you just attach your grease gun to, pump it full of grease and it'll come in, come out and lubricate the inside of the bolt. And these parts are all made in the USA.
