I have an ecotank 2700 and it doesnt print like yours. But I did like printing on the lovely old papers I had saved from my job they must be forty years old that was nice but still not great. Please do another lovely video about this it was so so good thank you
Thanks for showing us the difference paper can make, who knew? Right? I love the linen paper since you listed it in an earlier video. I also watch out for papers at yard sales, thrift stores, etc because I love finding older paper, the quality of older paper is amazing plus it’s already distressed! 😊
I just wanted to say that i have recently discovered the presentation paper and I just love love it. It is a bit more expensive but I love to add some into my journals.
Such great info. When you showed the card stock it came through looking like cream but you said you only use white. Must be the way the film showed the colors. I love the difference in the presentation paper. Never knew that would be the effect. Thanks for sharing
Great video! I wish I had it when I got into junk journals. I was frustrated until I figured out what a difference paper makes. I have an Epson ET-2760 which I love, though I too have to clean the print heads often. I use Red River premium matte double-sided in 32 lb the most. (They pack very well, so you will never have dinged corners either.) I also use a 60 lb cream cardstock, though I am not fully satisfied with it. I can't wait to go get some linen paper! TFS :)
🧚🏻♀️Thank you for your amazing video Heather! I’m sold on your choice of printers and papers (thanks to the hard yards you’ve done)! I’m shopping for a new printer right now!💐😘
Thank You!! I am going to get some of that Linen paper, so beautiful! Appreciate all the info, I have a very cheap HP printer that uses very expensive ink cartridges, so I am in the market for a better one like you showed here! Thanks again Heather!
I find it hard to get old looking letters , copies in French, especially the way they would write, their calligraphy is so awesome , am practicing my own ,,, to write calligraphy,,,, not sure where to look for the French written love letters,,lol,,,,, would love input on that , Amazon I have looked but not really any booklets on French well written beautiful scriptures,, etc,,, love all your videos ,thanx xo
Great info on the paper...thank you! I have a ET-3760 and like yours it takes the same ink and produces hundreds of beautiful copies and last for a very long time! Yellow runs out first🤣
I have a laser printer so I am hoping that someone will say if they have a presentation paper for laser that they like!! You are so right that paper makes a big difference!! Thank you for sharing with us!
in a perfect world would you ever consider buying a laser printer? I heard they are best for art. I defiantly love the eco printer refill system idea. Oh decisions decisions>😁
One of my favorite things to print on is vellum. I have the had excellent results with the Stampin’Up! brand. The weight is excellent to pass through the printer and the ink doesn’t smudge. The Epson ET printer is on my list of replacement items. Just hoping for a sale.
Great paper tips. Love your creations, especially the torn edge-no measuring style you have. I love the wedding photo you showed, would you please tell me the name of the digital?
I hoped this doesn’t sound crazy but I ran across a huge roll of pink paper in the gardening section called pink resin paper. It’s sturdy and a dusty pink color and it was a huge roll for 16.00 I have not tried to print on it yet but I will and let you know
Ahhh! That first paper is everything! Edit: I don’t know how everyone else feels, but I would be interested in another video that shows what else you do with your printer. Any other tips/tricks for different types of paper because I found this really helpful.
Yes please. I need all the helpful tips and tricks to have excellent quality products. I’m using an iPad, and it does not give me many options…..Microsoft, where are you ????? 😅🥰😘
I LOVED this video, so helpful. I haven't read all the comments, but I would find it very interesting to learn about printing on vintage and other types of papers. If you've already made that video, would you direct me to it? Thank you for all your creative energy and efforts!
Thank you so much for this great info! I echo the commentor who expressed interest in all of your printing tricks. If even like to know how keep your digital and physical papers organized!
Thanks for sharing the difference in the papers and how the images look. I never realized the difference the paper could make. I have the same printer as you and I love how long the ink lasts.
I love the presentation paper. It also uses less ink when you print because it's a coated paper. Super vibrant prints! I am so happy with the amazing photo quality I can get from such a low-cost printer (I have an Epson Eco Tank 3710; love it!) Southworth also has some "natural" papers and higher cotton count papers that provide nice texture for different types of ephemera. I like to print on parchment paper also - gives a lovely aged look to maps or other background or collage papers. I will have to try the linen finish for wallpaper types of papers. Thanks for this comparison.
So helpful, I wish I would have spent more money on my printer. Have you ever tried the matte photo paper for pictures? The only reason I ask is because I have purchased a ton at thrift stores.
Thank you! It’s interesting. I like the muted colors on the linen paper. However I do think the presentation paper was beautiful for the vintage photographs. I’m just starting out so your video was very helpful. You also have a very pretty style. You are fast becoming my favorite junk journal maker. 😍
Also... since we are talking printables... any suggestions on how to keep up with what you have?? I’m having to go thru my past Etsy purchases and figure out if I already have something similar I purchased... 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
TY Heather. I've had the same experiences comparing papers. here's a new one for you. The brand of the white really matters a lot! I use and love HP Premium Papers, 32 lb, 100 brightness. It's just like presentation paper I think . The colors are vibrant and true. I bought another premium made for color paper by Hammermill, 23 lb. white 100 brightness, and yet it's slightly slightly cream/gray colored in comparison. The images on it lack depth, are not as true and the contrast is dull in comparison to the HP. If I only saw Hammermill's I'd probably think it was very nice, and it's certainly different than regular copy paper. But the colors are off. I was sure the brightness was going to be in the low 90s but no, it's 100 too. BTW, I'm Journal Breeze on IG. Stay safe!
I have the earlier version of Epson - 2720. I believe that it prints well too. I did use up my one color in 6 months but I printed 1200 pages. Using Presentation paper or photo paper does use more ink. My current favorite paper is copy paper - 96 brightness - 24 lbs. I just bought the HP paper that you use so it may change my preference! If I like it, I'll be sure to check on Amazon for a better price - Staples prices are ridiculous. Thanks for the comparison. Now to look at your Etsy shop!!!
I have an Epson printer but use canon matte presentation paper since being in Canada our selections are limited for in store purchases. It’s the only one I use, great quality
Very helpful video. I need a new printer. Reviews are so confusing online. Thank you for taking the time to show paper quality as well. All super helpful. I have some of your printables in my cart, but need to get a good printer first.😉
I use Southworth linen paper too. I also love the Southworth parchment paper for printing. For tea dyeing I use Southworth resume paper because it is 100% cotton and takes the tea very well. I wish I could find a cream card stock that prints well but no luck so far. Thanks for the tips! Take care.😘😘
Hi Melody! Thanks for your comment.. I haven't tried the resume paper .. I love that you said it tea dyes well.. need to try that! I'm the same with the cream card stock.
Melody...try Hobby Lobby's Ivory heavyweight cardstock...it is a good weight for postcards, tickets etc. I use it too for photos especially Sepia ones, because it gives a vintage tone. Then I get to use less ink to age the back! :)
Thank you so much for sharing what type of paper you use and what type of printer you have. I’ve been just using regular print paper that people type on and it’s pretty thin so I was thinking about something a little thicker but not sure what to buy and I have a question.....I just have a simple $30 HP desk jet printer that takes ink cartridges and was wondering if the 40 pound and 24 pound paper is going to be OK to use on that type of printer??
All great things to know! I love how the Linen paper makes the wallpaper look so real! I'm so happy you shared this info as I have often wondered what paper's everyone uses. Thank for sharing! 🥰
Wow!! I thank you for making this video. This information is great. I will be buying some linen paper and presentation paper too. Now I have an old brother printer scanner copier fax all in one that I used for my job back in the day. Would love to have an Epson... Maybe one day but for now my brother is doing fairly well!! Never knew how much of a difference paper could make.
It was so fantastic to see the side by side comparison of using different papers for printing digitals. I hadn’t even thought about the possibility that ‘presentation’ paper existed so I will definitely be trying that one too for a more vibrant image ! Thank you for sharing 🤗
I always print on the linen paper, but I use a heavier lb. I use 32lb for journal pages and 65lb for cards. Haven't tried the presentation paper yet but I think I will try it instead of photo paper that I sometimes use. Thanks for the info.
I have watched this twice. Unfortunately I could only “like” it once😂. So helpful. Picking up my printer today thanks to your video. Have been looking for one but this sealed the deal for me. Sold out every where but was able to locate an et4760 at our staples. So excited to start my journey with this printer. I will also be able to scan and copy😳. What? I can see my business flourishing. ❤️💃🏻
Wonderful!! I hope you love your new printer.. it is so helpful to hear what others have to say in the comments too! Happy printing.. and scanning.. and copying!! 🤣🥰💗💗💗
My "everyday" journal paper is Staples brand Premium 98Bright, 32 lb....coffee dyes nicely and holds up well to folding, stenciling and stamping. For tags or cards, I love EPSON Premium Presentation MATTE. It's 44 pound heavyweight non-glare card stock.
Thanks for the tips. Red River is an AMAZING paper for color printing. Check it out. Expensive but wait till you see the difference. I have an epson ecotank. I was shocked on how amazing the colors were.😊
I know you have done a video on aging paper but if you can't afford the originals and you want your journal to look old what else could I do? Any ideas?
This is a great video and tutorial about paper. The fact that you showed examples of your favorite papers compared to regular copy paper was fantastic! I also appreciated your comments about your printer. I do a lot of printing and yes, the cartridges are very expensive!
I loved to hear more about your favourite papers! I recently started getting my digitals printed on parchment paper and I love it! I think it does something a bit similar as the presentation paper with some of the yellows/cream tones but the backside of the paper becomes so satisfying once it’s been printed on!
I just found your channel and subscribed. I love your digitals. I also have a Eco Tank printer. It is ET-4760 and I love it. I also print a lot and I probably have to add inks about every 8 months or so but like you I probably print more then most people. I have found Wal-Mart to be the best price as far as price. I think I paid about $55.00 for a complete set and then when I filled it up I had ink left over. Not bad for $55.00 a year or so to not be concerned about how much I print. I also love the Epson matte presentation paper. I have not tried it but I have heard parchment paper in the Southworth brand is nice to print on. I will try that White Linen that looks really nice. Someone on UA-cam the other day mentioned Hammermill color premium paper 32 ib paper and said it was really good so I thought I might give it a try. She did say it had to say color premium though. I would be interested to see if anyone else had tried it .
I am in 18:26 the market for a new printer 🫤, so this video sure is timely. Also, Heather, all your paper info is amazing thanks. Blessings from Betty in Ohio.
I love the linen paper. I have used it in my inkjet and my laser with great outcomes. When I got into creating digitals to sell, so many years ago lol, I was at the time offering them also as printed sheets, so tried a lot of papers and finally settled on the Hammermill presentation paper. I’ll have to give your presentation paper a try. I love your digitals and your journals so very much! Thanks for sharing Heather.
Thank you Gail!! The linen paper really is so nice... it is just a classic in my opinion! I have never tried the Hammermill but I would guess they are very similar! Thank you for your comment!
I tried your Linen finish paper and I like it! Hobby Lobby has a good heavy weight cardstock for postcard, tickets, and heavier ephemera . And it comes in cream & white...also their coupon saves you a lot! Southworth parchment is nice in the ivory tone.
Hi Nancy! I am glad you liked it!! I have not tried the hobby lobby card stock.. I've tried michaels and Joanne's but not that one. Thanks for the tip! I heard they are doing away with their coupon! 😭 also I do like the southworth parchment.. it is a very nice paper!
@@rubyandpearlxo Talk about "doing away"....I'm not sure but I went to Walmart and the Linen Southward in Ivory...was only a couple bucks for 100 sheets! Will it be phased out??... And I don't know about the white. Stock Up Time! (The Ivory is nice too, for a warmer vintage tone.)
Thank you for ALL of this information, perfect timing for me! Everything you said & showed is spot on! I haven't tried the Linen Paper yet, I love the texture, especially with your wallpaper prints, makes them look all the more authentic. I am starting to make a journal for a birthday gift for my sister using some of your kits that I have purchased and I have an HP printer that I have nursed along for years so I am in the market for a new printer and will for sure look into the Epson ET. Thanks again, Heather, I LOVE ALL of your work!
@@rubyandpearlxo that might actually make it worse….I’m scared of technology, menus, buttons, commands - uncertainty. Seriously there’s so much I don’t know what I don’t know…. 🥹
Thank you so much for explaining the different effects between paper types. What amazing color variations. Really appreciate you taking the time to explain. Can’t wait to try it out!
Thank you for this video..I did followed your advice after asking you and bought the Southworth linen paper from Amazon. Love the texture and the paper makes a lot of difference. :)
I'm so happy to see this video- I've been looking at your wallpaper digikits to buy and been wondering what paper would work well. I LOVE your style. ThankU for this useful info
What a great video! I’ve just found you and learned a lot about new (to me) papers. I have used the same brands of papers for years and am excited about experimenting with new ones. And I, too, LOVE my Eason Eco Tank printer. For the money we save on ink, we can definitely splurge on higher grades of paper! Thanks for the great information, and I’m looking forward to exploring more of your videos.
Thanks, I appreciate you letting us know about the papers you use. Wow, what a difference. I didn't realize how much difference it would make. Blessings.
I'm amazed at the difference paper can make! Thank you for sharing this, and for talking about the Epson EcoTank. I have a standard Epson and have been really happy with it, but am very interested in the EcoTank and had been looking at them in case I need to replace my printer. It's great to have input from someone who uses it for similar purposes - although I'm sure you print much more than I do! Love your digitals!
That's has helped so so much,, thankyou for doing that ,, loved it,, got a way better idea of things on how you explained everything, am just starting out so very helpful thanx h,,, ,,, LILLE MARIE ,, XO
Love love love linen. Index is a smooth card stock alternative. So jealous of your 4700, it’s definitely the way to go. I have an epson large format printer. Use only Epson inks, yes head cleaning is a factor but I print a lot an d we are going on 6 years now. Eco tanks are definitely the way to go! On my smaller printer, I could pay for the eco tank with the money I spend on ink cartridges. Definitely the way to go!
Red River is kinda famous in art circles for having amazing papers in a variety of textures. I love them. I forget the name of the one that has a “dappled” type texture, like a vintage handmade paper, but it gives a very authentic look to antique prints.
This was a super informative and helpful video! I started using Southworth Linen per your recommendation and I love it. I have it in different weights and use them for different applications. I also recently thrifted some vintage Southworth "Business paper" and "Resume" paper, in the color Ivory and find that its a great color for printing vintage receipts and letterheads/anything with fonts and scripts. Particularly the business paper is good for those applications, because it has an ever so slight grain/texture that is the closest thing I've seen to what some of those beautiful old letterheads/documents/receipts were printed on way back when, it even has a watermark which just looks so cool with something printed on it! That presentation paper is WILD, wow! The differences you showed were pretty major! Thanks for doing all those side by side comparisons! ok off to go buy some presentation paper and an eco tank printer and ALL THE THINGZZZ
I will have to try that resume and business paper! Thank you so much for the tip! I always look at all of the southworth papers when I am in the store and never know which ones to try.. I also forgot to mention in my video that I like the southworth almond linen paper ... it is I think a 40lb and a very nice color. I use it for certain things. If you look on my instagram post comments someone recommended using newsprint paper.. they age it.. there is a reference to how to find it on Amazon. I am going to try that!
@@rubyandpearlxo oops I have to clarify, the thrifted business paper I found is by a brand called Eaton, which is also the brand of vintage onion skin paper i have (i get lucky with thrifted paper!) but Southworth probably has one too. The vintage resume paper I have is Southworth.
Thanks for this very useful video! I use both the linen and the presentation papers that you shared and a regular 28 lb copy paper for coffee/tea dying. I think you had mentioned the linen paper once and I’ve used it ever since with your wallpaper digitals, among others. I too have an Epson eco tank printer and have had trouble with dirty print heads. I ran the “cleaning” option but that doesn’t seem to help. I’ve found some guidance online that you can remove the print head and clean the ink line connections, but that looks tricky. I’m curious if that is how you clean yours? I currently have lines that run through my images unless I choose presentation matte paper as my printing option. But I think I’m using a lot of ink that way. Love your journals and artistry!
Hi! I just run the clean print head feature.. I haven't had to deal with anything further as of yet. My Mom was telling me there is a special cleaning paper that epson makes that you can run through your machine? I hope you can get your trouble fixed!

Such great info. When you showed the card stock it came through looking like cream but you said you only use white. Must be the way the film showed the colors. I love the difference in the presentation paper. Never knew that would be the effect. Thanks for sharing
I love my Epson 4700. Best printer I’ve ever used. Ditto on your paper recommendations. The Epson presentation paper is the best bar none.

Thanks for the tips. Red River is an AMAZING paper for color printing. Check it out. Expensive but wait till you see the difference. I have an epson ecotank. I was shocked on how amazing the colors were.😊
Thank you for the wonderful presentation. Very helpful information.
I know you have done a video on aging paper but if you can't afford the originals and you want your journal to look old what else could I do? Any ideas?
The HP cardstock is 40 lb. Does that work ok in your epson ? Supposedly, epson says 27 lb is the max?.?
This is a great video and tutorial about paper. The fact that you showed examples of your favorite papers compared to regular copy paper was fantastic! I also appreciated your comments about your printer. I do a lot of printing and yes, the cartridges are very expensive!
Thank you so much for the information. I need to update my printer and this sounds very appealing. 💕❤
I loved to hear more about your favourite papers! I recently started getting my digitals printed on parchment paper and I love it! I think it does something a bit similar as the presentation paper with some of the yellows/cream tones but the backside of the paper becomes so satisfying once it’s been printed on!
I have an Epson eco tank too!!
Thank you for the in depth video and all the info! I appreciate you hard work!
Thak for the class, and yes i could see the texture on the linen paper
Excellent video-thank you! Would love to hear your tips and tricks regarding printing on vintage items like ledger sheets, book pages, etc!
Oh maybe I will do another video on that someday!! 💗💗🤗😆 thank you!
Thank you so much Elizabeth!! 💕
Oh no….cleaning the print heads ??? I have no idea what that even means… but the word cleaning is in there, so that is no bueno…
Haha it is just a setting that you press a button to clean. You don’t have to manually clean!
@@rubyandpearlxo that might actually make it worse….I’m scared of technology, menus, buttons, commands - uncertainty. Seriously there’s so much I don’t know what I don’t know…. 🥹
This is a very informative video. Do u still use the same printer or did u get a different one?
Wow!! This will be my go to video for paper buying! Thank you for sharing this, all this information will be very helpful. 💗
Thanks, I appreciate you letting us know about the papers you use. Wow, what a difference. I didn't realize how much difference it would make. Blessings.
Excellent and informative video. Thank you for sharing.
This was so helpful. Thank you.
Very informative! Also, all of your digitals are gorgeous!!! Thank you for sharing!
Red River is kinda famous in art circles for having amazing papers in a variety of textures. I love them. I forget the name of the one that has a “dappled” type texture, like a vintage handmade paper, but it gives a very authentic look to antique prints.
Red River does have great papers - their premium matte double-sided is my favorite paper for journal pages.
I’m in market for a new copier, so I definitely thank you for sharing your printer and all the paper recommendations, too!
Very helpful, thanks for sharing! I've only recently started using printables, so it's good to know what kind of papers would be good to buy :-)
Thank you so much for the printed side by side comparisons. That helped me a lot.
Thank you Heather! I will have to check that out and give it a try.
