E-Bike Question of the Day ⚡🚴 What are the key bike features that you consider a top priority when shopping for an e-bike? Let us know in the comments below 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
A couple of tests I would like to see on this bike, and future ebikes, is throttle smoothness: (1) I've taken a test ride on some ebikes with Bafang mid-drive motors where the throttle does not ramp up smoothly. The power suddenly comes on and I almost get bucked off the bronco! (2) The bucking effect is much worse when I'm pedaling up hill and I rotate the throttle very slowly to add juuuuust a teeeensy amount of power and the bike nearly throws me off the saddle! Or the motor becomes herky jerky. For some reason, Bafang's mid-drive controller doesn't want to add power while a person is pedaling. Yet, on their rear hub motor systems, it's very smooth. Go figure! Very curious how the Rosemont LS would do. *
Could you do range tests for throttle only as well for the bikes you test? Some people may have problems with pedaling due to disabilities and may be looking to use throttle more often than not, and they could find that information very useful. I have noticed that you don't seem to do so in the videos, at least as far as I have seen since I've been watching your videos.
Great suggestion! We did experiment with that for a while, but in most cases, it was just a few miles less than what we got for max PAS. Since not all e-bikes have throttles, we opted to stick with the max PAS option since riding every bike for three different range tests becomes too time-consuming for our team. From the data we collected, most bikes are about 5-15% less mileage on a throttle only result vs what we get on the max PAS tests. Hope that helps!
I totally get that people are range obsessed. it's a trickle down effect from E cars range anxiety. But in reality it has 0% effect for most people. The average person can't ride 20 miles on a bike without their butt feeling like someone shoved a small child up there. GET REAL FOLKS.............. ain't NOBODY riding even 50 miles in a day, much less 100. GET OVER IT...........
We agree with the statement in a general sense. Most folks will do fine on 20 miles a day. Sometimes it's less about miles in a day though. Some worry that if you are commuting and relying on an e-bike, if you happen to forget to charge it when you meant to and then you run out of juice, do you now have a heavier bike you'll have to pedal by yourself somewhere? It's a valid concern, so having a bike that gives you greater range is also peace of mind for getting you through the week rather than the day in some cases.
Great quality ebike. I have their Royal model and love it. What I have been finding interesting about some of your recent reviews is that a bike like the Niu bqi 3 pro beats all of the middrives in the hill climb test. I am assuming that is because the mid drive is using a lower gear, and likely using way less power than the Niu.

Top speed using throttle only.
Speed and range of throttle only.
Range, quality, mid-drive and class 3
Good package. Looks a little aggressive in the seat to bars reach. Not bad.
Yeah I second the reach. Seems like the stem was an after thought
your Team's review is top priority ~! for reviewing all those features. giving us all insight~! ty EBR 👍
Our pleasure!
Thinking about buying a bike main thing is how much does it cost how fast does it go how far does it go

@ElectricBikeReport thanks and yes, that helps a lot.
Wish they integrated battery with the cover plate.
Hey Electric Bike Report, love the video, love the channel. What is your opinion kids 12+ riding 20-28 mph e bikes? Is it safe?

I would seriously change the 100 mile headline. Also, IGO has very serious customer support issues.
The bike did go 100 miles though.
