2:12 The reason why they included the gummy with purple eyes instead of the plush one is because they didn’t want to confuse the audience with why pinkie may have had a random alligator in her room so they had to make sure to specify it was actually gummy with the purple eyes :>
Strange the way Hasbro just ignored almost every new character from season 7 from there on, No Pillars, no Wallflower, no Vignette, no Kirin! I have a Pony Wallflower plush and a friend of mine has an Autumn Blaze plush, but of course these were custom (although awesome quality) pieces. Would be interesting to see something about characters ignored by Hasbro
Sadly, G4 had an issue with a general lack of variety in characters, especially later on. Comparing G4 with any generations preceeding it (barring G3.5, which only had the main cast) is quite interesting, as generations before had far, far more characters in the toyline. G4, however, tended to repeat the Mane 6 and popular secondary characters with not much else. Although I am personally not the biggest fan of the G4 brushables for a few reasons, I'd love it if we did get those characters, for more variety and because there are people who do very much like these characters. However, I can only speak for adults and teenagers, not smaller children which is at the end of the day their target demographic.
I always found it funny that Hasbro gave Twilight Sparkle purple hair with pink streaks instead of giving her dark blue hair with pink streaks like it is on the show.
I remember something that was strange in MLP brushable figures, too. They always made Rainbow Dash's mane red, orange, yellow, and green, and her tail blue and purple. Like they never made her hair show accurate. Even though I do remember a brushable figure of her where her mane was red, orange, and yellow, and her tail was purple.
@@CHERABBAGIRL26 it's mainly due to practicality in production. Rooting doll hair is done by hand and is time consuming as hell. Having to put 6 different colors on a head and into the tail would take too much time
There are two other alicorns made. Princess Gold Lily was one of them. Sterling was the other. A lot of the time, they were making up toys to fill in blanks between shows, some were abandoned ideas, but Hasbro has always had a certain % of toys that didn't appear in the shows. Part of the reason for this has been argued is that it gave a blank slate for kids to invent their own stories behind those characters.
@@AngelEmfrbl I will tell you that MLP G5 Tell Your Tale Season 2 will feature the Alicorn Kingdom Skyros later down the line. Maybe Hasbro would think about making Princess Skyla Canon in G5 in Skyros. Or maybe Princess Gold Lily and Princess Sterling. But I doubt that. Like Princess Skyla, Hasbro released two other strange non-canonical alicorn dolls, being Princess Gold Lily and Princess Sterling, idk if they were ever intended to be used in the series but I think they were made just for toy sales. Also just to add some more ideas, the pony figures that came in MLP magazines were always a bit derpy and off-model, the Interactive My Magical Princess Twilight Sparkle toy made for the movie is horrifying and the mlp water bottle thermoses are just odd, esp the twilight one
Something that Skyla reminded me of was the twin packs of Princess Gold Lily and Princess Sterling with Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy respectively. They were recolours of the Celestia mold with Sterling having Luna's eyes. They are genuine toys as I have gold lily myself but I have no clue where on earth they would have fit into the canon as their descriptions only had a basis on personality rather than background. Reminds me as an old pony collector when I was little that I had some rare playsets including queen chrysalis which just had drawn-on holes as a recolored Celestia and that I had some other Celestia toys in G4 (not g4.5) that were white. Apparently Celestia was made pink before Cadence was a thing to appeal as a "pink princess" to cell to girls before Cadence came out and was honestly a great selling point. Some other small inaccuracies/cheap cuts was the G4 DJ-PON3 toy with an indented different eye shape like rarity with her circular eye, Rainbow Dash had lidded eyes for YEARS before it was changed to her more canon eye shape with the three straight lashes, same with Fluttershy and (maybe) AJ. Twilight was also pretty inconsistent after the show introduced her as an alicorn and the company struggled to place her in the small horse body with Pegasus wings or the large Cadence body with the alicorn wings and didn't want to make a whole new model for her besides that one time in the castle playset. Shining armor also didn't have painted hooves in the original wedding playset until the 2013 exclusive playset which painted his hooves but cadence in that set didn't have painted heels, which that set was god awful as it introduced PAPER TIARAS and the awful queen Chrysalis we had. There's also 2 other alicorns never seen in the show that use Celestia's body template which are both pink and yellow, there was also a lot of strange Photoshop work in the toy boxes and speech bubbles being speaking bubbles in the EQ girls playsets. Photofinish also has black streaks in the pony's hair instead of it being all white. Let alone how Rainbow Dash and Cadence didn't have their full colors from mane to tail as the mane for Dashie had red, orange, yellow and green while the tail had purple and blue and Cadence only had a yellow tail. These ponies were sooo cheap and they cut corners really fast but I really enjoyed them before the soft reboot for g4.5 which downgraded my liking towards them lol. Edit; There was also a major inconsistency with Luna as she didn't have her show accurate colors either throughout the entire run of g4 pony line, but nightmare moon was established pretty well and accurately. Also with the Skyla thing, as much as we could say it's a similar thing to Goldlily and Sterling, the toys had a bad habit of spoiling some parts of the show before it was even released like rainbow rocks and rainbow power being heavily marketed only for the actual rainbow power variants of the mane 6 to be shown for a few seconds in an episode AFTER all the merchandise was blasted from hyping it up. The toys at the time gave a lot of spoilers of future characters or themes that'd be put onto the show before the episodes came out so I don't blame anyone for thinking Skyla was going to be canon and she's a lot cuter than flurryheart in my opinion.

80% of Luna toys are purple. I get that the dark blue color she has is more expensive to produce but they could have used her design in S1 where she was a lighter blue color, I mean they even use it on the artworks on the boxes. Also, most Cadence toys being the wrong color as well. In the show she was light pink with pastel colors but her toys are way too saturated and ugly.
4:03 Well I have a simpler theory. I know that LEGO first makes toys and sells them, then broadcasts a series.A similar situation can take place at Hasbro, where they first created a toy and in the process of selling toys, they changed the script of the show.
I speak as a collector of My Little Ponies, I appreciate the G4 toys that do not have in-show counterparts. G4 was very lacking in variety and a character having no established personality means that it may be easier to imagine them being however you wish. There are three alicorns that were never in the show: Sterling, Goldlily and Skyla. I don't think that it's impossible that any of them were planned, but I'm inclined to think that they're just characters that were never planned to appear in the G4 show. What's amusing is that differences between the toys and the shows are not really new, what comes to mind is Morning Glory from G1, who was once depicted with inaccurate colours in the show. However, in other depictions her colours were more consistent with that of her toy.
So couple things to note. First regarding the Spike figures based off concept art, that’s not so much Hasbro “rushing the toys” as it is making sure the toys get to market on time. It’s actually incredibly standard practice to base toys off late concept art. Toy production takes a ton of time so they have to start early to make sure releases line up with the show properly. Unfortunately this occasionally results in inaccuracies as late stage design changes take place. Second, the princess alicorn toy you mentioned actually reminds me a ton of toys from the generation of MLP I had as a little hid (which I think is considered gen 3?) Maybe I’m misremembering my childhood here but I could swear I had something very very similar as a little kid. Wonder if they were just reusing old molds or something?
I think Princess Skyla was going to be Flurry Heart but also Hasbro were testing the waters of random alicorn toys and realised it doesn't make sense in canon
Honestly Hasbro had no idea the show would be so popular, they just released a bunch of random toys like they used to do in G3 (That's not bad, G3 is my favorite generation) so until 2013 the toy line and the tv show were almost like totally different things. I remember there were two alicorn princesses in the toy line (One of them came in a pack with Fluttershy), they were just a recolor of Celestia and were never actually in the show.
I remember watching people on youtube as kid of people completely taking hair out and entirely painting over it to make it accurate and it pleased me on a whole other level
Your videos make me happy/comfort and ether pacing (especially the way you talk I’m aware that sounds weird) is perfect for my adhd and I’ve been hyperfixated on mlp for years now
Princess Skyler reminds me of some other things. When she was launched I remember thinking it was Cadence and Shining Armor’s baby two- thought it would happen sonner I guess. I thought I heard someone say that it ended up being a joke between the creators but I don’t remember where I saw that. They also had two recolors of the standard Princess Celestia mold called “Princess Goldlilly” (sold with a Pinkie Pie- I think) and “Princess Sterling” sold with Fluttershy. I remember being so confused.
The princess skyla kinda reminds me of those little pony 'baby dolls' they used to make in g3. I think either me or my sister had one. It's basically a huge baby pony toy who's eyes open and close and I think they had voice lines and bottles and stuff.
The Princess skyla toy does look familiar to me until I realized that it's the same look as the baby pinkie pie toy from 2011, no wonder It looked familiar
The only reason I'm happy that the Princess Skyla toy exists is because of the way they spelled her name, it's the 2nd most unique way to spell that name (the dutch spelling is number 1 btw) If you're wondering why I care, that's how MY name is spelled and I don't see it spelled that way often (if ever) Only reason I don't hate that toy
My favorite character and pony as a kid as Luna (she’s still a huge favorite) and I remember bring pissed as all hell that she never got any merch. Whenever she actually DID get merch, she was always bright purple with glittery teal and purple hair and always the main pony model instead of being accurate to her design. They didn’t start releasing accurate merchandise of her until YEARS later
Princess Gold Lily and Princess Sterling are also notable in the same way as Skyla. Anyways, I still think all of Twilight's toys being entirely the wrong color up until a G5 figure of her and the redesigned Equestria Girls dolls.
I thought Princess Sterling was going to be the princess of Trottingham and we were going to see Trottingham during the Explore Equestria arc. I was really disappointed when we didn't get either of those things.
Cool video. It would be cool if you could make one about weird bootlegs and knockoff MLP toys that are sold in foreign countries. One that comes to mind is "My Little Horse" lmao
This stuff is the reason that even child me who was hyperfixated on the series entirely stopped collecting MLP stuff unless it actually looked right. It pissed me off so bad, and it still does.
The princess Skyler toy is literally a rebrand of a toy from G3! You know, the one where they where babies. I had one second hand and it literally never shut up but I always thought it was pretty cute, and I still think the Skyler one is too. The doll ate food, drank from a bottle and you could rock her to sleep. I think her eyes closed too but I can’t remember. To my memory they made three, a rainbowdash, a pink unicorn (that I had) and an earth pony but I can’t remember her either.
That starswirl is so messed up oh my GOSH. I'm hoping that since some brands start doing what Monster High is doing with the Creeproductions line where they make detailed and new high quality toys for collectors. My little pony has so much untapped potential, and I feel like the demand would still be really high especially with the Brony fandom still thriving.
What's this? Pony content I havent seen? And it's high quality? Colour me interested. Great vid, i have a bunch of blind bag figures my cousin gave me like 2 years ago and most of them are awful, aside from a cute fluttershy one which i sometimes take out with me as a lucky charm.
I have some toys of the mane 6 that I don’t know where they’re from because my mom got them off eBay. They have crystal manes and eyes, but their tails are normal. My theory is that the og owner took the heads of one set and attached them onto another set, because Twilight’s head is a different shade of purple than her torso, and their heads don’t quite align with the torso
Can you do a videos on characters that should have gotten toys like some villians, Danny Williams, the pillars, ECT! Oh and Scootaloo in the washout uniform because that would be fun.
Ever since I saw that Fluttershy toy with the Rainbow dash hair always confused me. When I first saw her mane I was like “That’s not her?” I’m also wondering why this appears in my recommendations twice right next to eachother.
Omg you just gave me so many memories like my name is Skyla (sometimes I feel like my name isn’t as common) and I remember freaking out so bad about Princess Skyla when I was younger. I was like “what?!? there’s gonna be a alicorn named Skyla like me?! And she’s gonna be Candace’s foal??!” 😭😭 Now that her name is something else, younger me probably would’ve been very disappointed but it still makes me wonder why they changed her name though
Speaking of alicorn that don't really exist Hasbro made two random alicorns in the celistia pose named princess goldlily and princess Stirling look it up
Bro I hated the blind bag figures so much, because they're pretty much all recolors. And Fluttershy being a Rainbow Dash recolor pissed me off so much, at least they could've used someone with more similar of a hairstyle to hers
When I was little I used to love these kind of little toys. I used to play with fidget spinners, the 3rd MLP little toys you mentioned, slime, little mermaids that can change their tails color underwater, some kind of zombies made of gum with some train thingies, cats that have hats and purses and so on. I honestly miss those good old times where I bought some random small toys and my parents spending money every morning while we were going to school... Ah yes, good old times. I have the urge to buy some right now.
I remember having a blindbag figurine that had a stallion model on the card, but the figurine was a mare. Always thought it was a bit odd how they managed to do that but who knows? Maybe someone thought the toyline needed some LGBT representation :)
Oh, was Magnet Bolt? I think I remember something like that. Magnet Bolt trans icon tbh Edit: Just checked and I was wrong, Magnet Bolt is a mare as a toy but a stallion in the actual show.
I think you are refering to a pony who was a soarin recolor but on the figure was a rainbow recolor figure i think she was named rainbow glide something
@@shrekcuriosoosiosi2313 If you're talking about Rainbow Swoop from Wave 10, he has a stallion (Thunderlane's) design both in the figure and in the card.
I've had plenty of MLP mini figures when i was younger. Many ones from blind bags.

1:17 no I think the worst part is the fact that the random recolor of starswirl the BEARDED, DOESNT EVEN HAVE A BEARD
4:31 I use to have this plush 😨
I think Princess Skyla was going to be Flurry Heart but also Hasbro were testing the waters of random alicorn toys and realised it doesn't make sense in canon
I actually use to thought the recolor of Fluttershy looked cute
That more up to date Fluttershy you showed is literally the one I have so that was a nice chuckle I got when I realized that they were the same one.
Fans love ponies, hasbro loves moneys. That is the different.
I had a princess skyla toy when I was little
Honestly Hasbro had no idea the show would be so popular, they just released a bunch of random toys like they used to do in G3 (That's not bad, G3 is my favorite generation)
so until 2013 the toy line and the tv show were almost like totally different things.
Your videos make me happy/comfort and ether pacing (especially the way you talk I’m aware that sounds weird) is perfect for my adhd and I’ve been hyperfixated on mlp for years now
that means a lot, thanks. even IF this video and my newer vids feel like they're from different channels lol.
*it doesn’t let me edit it for some reason but I ment too not two
Loved the video 💕
Can you make a video about mlp bootleg toys? Here in my country they sell A LOT of those and they’re really funny
cool idea! i'll do one if i can find enough to talk about!
Oh god. Yes. I myself own a Celestia with red skin and blonde hair.
It did bug me to have an inaccurate Fluttershy too but later on I got an accurate Fluttershy figure :p
That's the same line as those so you're right.
The only reason I'm happy that the Princess Skyla toy exists is because of the way they spelled her name, it's the 2nd most unique way to spell that name (the dutch spelling is number 1 btw)
If you're wondering why I care, that's how MY name is spelled and I don't see it spelled that way often (if ever)
Only reason I don't hate that toy
Your channel has been booming so much including your vids! Keep up the awesome work!
My favorite character and pony as a kid as Luna (she’s still a huge favorite) and I remember bring pissed as all hell that she never got any merch.
Whenever she actually DID get merch, she was always bright purple with glittery teal and purple hair and always the main pony model instead of being accurate to her design.
They didn’t start releasing accurate merchandise of her until YEARS later
i have an official Celestia toy in the shape of a regular pony it always bothered me as a kid and i wouldnt play with it lol
Demon donkey as well
My biggest flex is that I have the og fluttershy in the themnail
This stuff is the reason that even child me who was hyperfixated on the series entirely stopped collecting MLP stuff unless it actually looked right. It pissed me off so bad, and it still does.
even as a kid i thought the way they reused the mlp blind bag models was rlly lazy and was always bothered by it
WHAAAAT your ponysona is SOOO cool!!
i like him so much!!
Oml the memories this video brought back. I still have the majority of my old MLP figures & istg I use to have that exact Pinkie Pie & Gummy set!!
You might be thinking about Lullaby Moon or Apple Sprout, the unicorn was Lily
There were also two pegasi named Cotton Belle and Sunny Daze
I also feel like ive seen the baby skyla toy in person years ago but I honestly forgot about it
its sad that next to no effort was made when realising some of these toy lines, especially when its such a high standard show
2:00 so they made Fluttershy looking like Rainbow Dash... And a pony who actually IN THE SHOW looks like Rainbow is Fluttershy.... Okay...
0:10
Therapist: Twinkle Pie does not exist it can't hurt you
Twinkle pie:
0:45 I used to have one like that when I was little, but I never noticed she was inaccurate 🤷♀️
lucky
That starswirl is so messed up oh my GOSH. I'm hoping that since some brands start doing what Monster High is doing with the Creeproductions line where they make detailed and new high quality toys for collectors. My little pony has so much untapped potential, and I feel like the demand would still be really high especially with the Brony fandom still thriving.
You should make a video of non-existing ponies🤩(pony toys that were never in the show)
What's this? Pony content I havent seen? And it's high quality? Colour me interested. Great vid, i have a bunch of blind bag figures my cousin gave me like 2 years ago and most of them are awful, aside from a cute fluttershy one which i sometimes take out with me as a lucky charm.
I hate Fl*ttershy, but other than that, welcome to the channel!
It all makes sense now I guess i wasn’t the only one confused about some of the toys 😳
We need more Inaccurate my little pony toys I don't know why these videos are very entertaining
Oh god I remember that I indeed had princess Styla toy. I wonder where she is now
i love you more than rarity that's a huge thing
I have some toys of the mane 6 that I don’t know where they’re from because my mom got them off eBay. They have crystal manes and eyes, but their tails are normal. My theory is that the og owner took the heads of one set and attached them onto another set, because Twilight’s head is a different shade of purple than her torso, and their heads don’t quite align with the torso
Can you do a videos on characters that should have gotten toys like some villians, Danny Williams, the pillars, ECT! Oh and Scootaloo in the washout uniform because that would be fun.
2:07 I thought that Pinkie was a recolor of Adagio (Dazzle) for a moment- is it?
I swear princess skyla was in some sort of fan game that had her as the actual doll in the game but I can't for the life of me find it
Ever since I saw that Fluttershy toy with the Rainbow dash hair always confused me. When I first saw her mane I was like “That’s not her?”
I’m also wondering why this appears in my recommendations twice right next to eachother.
I used to have that Fluttershy toy XD idk why I never questioned it
I remember getting the sugar cube corner set when I was little, when that picture of the set showed on the screen it bringed back so many memories
I love the vid! Pt 3 would be awesome! + there was many mini figs characters that weren’t even in the Show!
Speaking of alicorn that don't really exist Hasbro made two random alicorns in the celistia pose named princess goldlily and princess Stirling look it up
That maud pie figure looks nice. I’ve never seen it before.
Bro I love your channel, it brings so much nostalgia
0:34 i laughed at this part😂
M an, that Starswirl's model is a stuff of nightmares
1:34
Therapist: Flutter Dash is not real it cannot hurt you
Flutter Dash:
Okay the fluttershy in the thumbnail is trans, it just looks trans. Its flutterguy.
Nah, that’s flutterchad
Nah, it’s fluttershit.
Flutterguy
Bro fluttershy is my favorite and when I saw the thumbnail I was like “don’t tell me that’s fluttershy because in that case it would be rainbowshy”
Bro I hated the blind bag figures so much, because they're pretty much all recolors. And Fluttershy being a Rainbow Dash recolor pissed me off so much, at least they could've used someone with more similar of a hairstyle to hers
Omg I had that pinkie sleepover set, gummy is the only piece left
The blindbag Luna which was a recolour of Celestia, and with young Luna's colours.
MLP: Friendship is Magic childhood toys are so pretty! imo
I had that Equestria girls set
I got Fluttershy toy when i was like 5-6yo and i said "is this rainbow dash? I think it is"
HELP I ACTUALLY HAD THE RECOLOURED CELESTIA AS A KID SHSJGSHS
at 0:09 i have that EXACT SAME TOY i just never knew who that was supposed to be...but thanks for clearing up that it was twinke shine...
Magnet Bolt trans icon tbh
Edit: Just checked and I was wrong, Magnet Bolt is a mare as a toy but a stallion in the actual show.
@@lautaroroldanpizzorno7494 it could be! :D
Edit: You were exactly right and talking about Prism Glider. His figure uses the Rainbow Dash mold but the art on his card depicts him as a stallion (and refers to him using he/him pronouns).
@@shrekcuriosoosiosi2313 i believe it was bright blue and white, but i could be wrong :o
Pretty sure they coloured them similarly so kids will see the non-popular pony and mistakenly buy them because they look like the main cast
The "Free" Egmont magazine figures probably had more attention to detail than most of Hasbro's output, pity the scale varied.
Y'know for a company that earns millions, you'd think at the very least if they're gonna be like everyone else and rush cheap toys- Make the box art accurate?
A lot of MLP merch doesn't look that great.
Going with the princess Skylar thing she wasn’t the only one released I remember there was also princess Larva and Twila. I also remember two recolors of princess celesta and they were Princess Sterling and Gold Lily maybe you can add these in??
Actually rethinking this Twila is not a real toy, from doing a quick search on her she’s a fan child of Twilight and Prince BlueBlood.
Princess Larva and Twila are both not real, but there were 2 other original So Soft Newborn dolls called Apple Sprouts and Sunny Daze
I had show accurate toys when i was younger they were see through like crystal ponies and Fluttershy was completely normal, i think i made an zombie roleplay while playing with them (THIS WAS BEFORE INFECTION AUS LOL
Yeah, I that is what makes me mad sometimes lol
I remember Princess Skyla, but Yeah Flurry Heart is Cuter and Unique
I always played with my princess Skyler Baby Toy and I wondered from where she came, now I know it, thanks.
I have that pink unicorn!
