Topological Quantum Matter, Entanglement, and a "Second Quantum Revolution"
Speaker: Duncan Haldane (Sherman Fairchild University Professor of Physics, Princeton University, USA)
    Date: 11 January 2019, 16:30 to 18:30
Venue: Ramanujan Lecture Hall, ICTS Bangalore
While the laws of quan tum mechanics have remained unchanged and have passed all tests for the last eighty-five years, new discoveries about the exotic states that they allow, “entanglement”, and ideas from quantum information theory, have greatly changed our perspective, and some believe that a “second quantum revolution” is currently underway. The discovery of unexpected “topological states of matter”, and their possible use for “topologically-protected quantum information processing” is one of the important themes of these developments, and will be described.

Very Nice lecture, particularly topology in quantum matter, spin transport in frustrated systems, and Entanglement.

Amazing video, but the audio was a bit low.

Topological perspective, which edge is being described? Is it a virtual edge shown in the circle figure?

About the laser shining at the moon (from the earth) and the person with the laser on the earth flicking the laser back and forth across the moon, apparently FTL, it is said that that FTL movement is an illusion because no information is conveyed from point A to point B on the moon. What if the laser were projecting the Bat Signal? Persons at A and B could each see the Bat signal faster than light could transmit it from A to B. Is this incorrect?

No beccause each person would need to wait for the time for the light to reach the moon and bounce back then batman climbs in his bat mobile from bat signal.

Man that Einstein guy was a real dimwit. EPR was just whining, not "Real Science". And the lecturer is who again?

A Nobel prize winning professor of physics at Princeton... You know? The same institute that Einstein was a part of here in America
