- Welcome back to the Joy of Carving! In this video I’ll show you how you can whittle your own little bird. These birds make fantastic projects and don’t take long at all to whittle. Time to whittle away the hours! Here’s a link to my shop if you want to purchase this whittling kit - LPDesignest2018

Fun little project. The brass legs and perch were a clever touch. Think I’ll give this a shot. Thanks
Excellent! Thank you very much for this!
Great, well done. Thank you.
Thank you 😊👍
Excelente trabajo, espero el siguiente video.
super
Muito bom❤
A great video! Very clear explanation. What size wood did you start with? I presume you cut the blank on a bandsaw?
Hope the messages on Etsy helped! 😊
Have you got blank template please
What kind of pencil is that?
It’s a clutch Pencil 😊
This is so lovely, what tool do you use to make the holes?
Thank you 😊 I used one of those mini precision hand drills 😊
Very Nice demo! What type of bird were you carving? A reference would be helpful.
I’ve based mine on a goldfinch but robins would be a good reference as well 😊👍
Just completed one of your birds that I purchased from you really struggled with the the tail ! Not as good as yours .Enjoyed it though .What diameter brass rod did you use ? I am going to buy some .Many Thanks
Really pleased you enjoyed the kit! 😁 The tail can be challenging to carve, the trick is to just whittle away a little at a time, it’s easier to think of it as a V shape and you’re carving towards the most narrow part, Hope that helps! The diameter for the rods is 1.6mm 😊 👍
such a pretty carving. thank you for so many tips. may i ask where you got your knife? i'd love a whittling knife made of bone!
Thanks so much for the support I really appreciate it! 😊 I made the knife myself, I had a friend give me some shed antlers and I shaped it to fit a blade on an old knife blade I had. I’ve still got pieces of antler left so I might make some more soon and list them on the website 😊
