Ballet pointe demonstration by Yvonne and her friends, short excerpt from childrens ballet demonstration DVD. Note Yvonnes beautiful feet during echappé closeups
People get really defensive about weight.but its not about your weight its about dance and how you move that defines you. She is a great dancer and im sure everyone who commented on this is too. Just drop the fighting.
"The Little Primaballerina! Ballet Training for Children" is the title of the DVD. She is a student at the time this was filmed from what I can understand.
I started ballet when I was 17. And you don't have to be thin to be a good ballet dancer. I took a dance class form a BEAUTIFUL dancer, and she was pregnant at the time =) If you want to take ballet then go ahead! It's all about enjoying dance.
u can still dance, someone at my studio started at 16 and was actually the snow queen in nutcracker last year, u just need patience, determenation, and perseverance
I used to dance ballet years ago and I stopped it because the other girls were having fun of me and my body is like the girl's on the video..! I was so depressed with that situation but now I really love my body and that's me at all. I could do nothing to be skinnier. Now I work out every day and I like to show out a healthy body rather than a body that is starving. She is very good at her dancing and not fat at all!! :/
@Simmibimmy 13 is a very good age. If you are in a good school you should be able to do everything in pointe shoes within 2-3 years. Some people start at 8, and after 5 years, they still have trouble doing a single pirouette. I started when I was 13, son't worry.
'Ballet isn't modelling business. It's about dancing...its about how you express yourself and how you use what you have.' Maria Kochetkova, Principal Dancer, San Francisco Ballet
@Karen1andKaren2 Thank you so much. After watching all these videos of 11 year olds doing amazing pointe dances, I started feeling bad. :D Good to know!
At least she can go en pointe without her barre going with her -.- In my dance school we have new barres, theyre SO light, you try doing barre work like going up en pointe snatching and the barre moves half way across the room
muss ich duenn sein um eine ballerina zu werden? ich spiele ballet seit ich 5 jahre alt war und liebe es sehr! aber mein eninziges problem ist dass ich nicht sehr duenn bin. (sorry if my German is bad...i'm from Egypt :))..)
I love how she's not a size zero it shows even big girls can do ballet she still looks graceful I'm 10 1/2 and I'm a dancer you don't have to be super skinny to be a ballet dancer
You should think before you judge without even knowing the facts. This is a DVD, which tells children about ballet to get them interested in dancing. The intention is to give children an understanding of some impressions about the sport as a great hobby. The dancer in the video is not a profi. She is also dancing ballet as a hobby. Nobody in this video claims, that the girl is a prima ballerina. Please read properly! The title is Prima, Ballerina! It´s a common title addressed to kids speech!
Yes, I'm very very much inclined to agree. I'm not at all in a position to gauge the technicalities; rather I was reflecting on the attitude expressed in particular by Maria Kochtekova in regard to physique. What you say applies to any great profession, be it in the arts, sciences or other fields of endeavor. I just love to watch (especially classical) ballet: I think it's really beautiful, graceful: simply inspiring. And not without tremendous dedication and skill.
Sadly in the old days it wasn't like this, if you look at the old photos, many famous ballerina's looked almost exactly like this lady, even Vaganova herself, even the great Plisetskaya was not too thin in her younger days. Nowadays the ballet world is realizing the harm such obsession with thinness does to girls, even the Canadian Grande Dame Betty Oliphant acknowledged this in her book...
It's amazing how jealous people can get, when they see such an amazing PRIMA BALLERINA. Yes I put in capitals to accentuate the fact that she is good enough to be a ballerina. :D
shes not fat. In my dance school all the other dancers are really thin and i am quite curvy same with her shes not fat its just every other dancers are really thin.
@sofiemarris Its because she gets her own changing room and she is one of the main dancers. The proper term for a prima ballerina would be a Principal dancer
I'm in grade even right now. Sometime near the end of this school year, my ballet teacher will put us on pointe. Am I really late? For someone who isn't an INSANELY talented ballerina, am I still too late getting on pointe, or pretty average? I'll be 13 in about a week.
No one is "too big" to have a real dance carrier. And what's the point of starting your comment with "I don't want to be mean" when your comment was mean. She's perfect.
This video is great to practise for my ballett, but Im even leaner. How old is she 15? Then shes one year older than me, i`ll see how good I am in a year! And to everyone out there: Nobody`s perfekt, so dont speeek about her like she is bad, because in my age youwerent better! If you can do it now, make a vidio! Then i can see it! Love Hannibelle
im 18years old and i will start with the ballett but i think im to old? I hope not and must i be thin for ballett?? Because im 160cm high and my waight is 69kg.
I agree w/ everything you say except "underweight is not perfect because it is unhealthy". Most of the amazing professional ballerinas are underweight, but only because they train so hard. And at the same time, they're perfect. (Watch Diana Vishneva or Paloma Herrerra sometime.)
Ich habe Ballett auch erst mit 14 oder 13 angefangen... Tanze seit 2018 Spitze😁 Ist doch auch eigentlich egal wann man anfängt, wenn man vielleicht nix großes vorhat..
jeez guys. she is not fat. she just happens to have an hour-glass figure. i happen to have a very defined waist and large hips, and i'm at a ballet school. i know how it feels to be this shape while everyone else has a very boy-like figure. i thought that i wasn't made for ballet, but it doesn't have to be so. her thighs are big because they are muscly. all that matters is that she is strong and is a lovely dancer.
she is not fat people! if you are refering to her legs it is not fat at all it is muscle i am a dancer and i have been dancing since i was 2 years old my legs look similar and it is muscle not fat
I will say that German Russian and some eastern european languages sound very similar in phrasing and intonation. Just as French, Latin, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish sound similar in phrasing and intonation. The 'melody' of related languages often sounds the same. Many of them have the same root language. But Spanish and Russian don't sound anything alike. Listen to the sounds of the words, even if you can't understand them, you can hear a big difference.
For me she has a beautiful strong healthy body and overall she is graceful and gifted,, the most beautiful ballerina I´ve ever seen, a true German beauty
I agree with this completely, but I will say that often this is not the case with dancers. Companies want smaller dancers. She is a beatuful dancer and that’s what matters to me.
If you want to see perfect fit bodies, go search Svetlana Zakharova's or Victoria's Secret's videos. Maybe she hasn't got a PERFECT ballerina's body, but if she wants to dance ballet and she loves what she does , who are you for telling her she is fat? By last, it is a teaching video for the little ones who want to be like her, without thinking she is fat or not. (Sorry if I don't speak English well at all, but I'm Spanish)
im not tryin to be rude.. its hard to stay in shape it really is.. u know im 12 yrs old and its hard for me.. i try to be on a diet but it made me more fat so ... im 195.2 lbs yeah its alot but u know its the hard work that counts .. not the weight .. but this is jus an opinion im just sayin im not starting anythin .. if u don like im sorry
Cookie TV: you misunderstood completely what I've said. I didn't critizise the girl for her body in generally, I just said, that she has no chance to become a professionel ballet dancer. That's a big difference and everybody, who nows which kind of body you need for being a prof. dancer, understood my posting.
@hollywoodance97 I agree with you! I lost a bit weight and immediately got so much better in ballet. Everything was so much easier when you´re lighter. You shouldn´t get anorexic or so but if you´re a bit thinner, you´ll notice how much better you can do the exercises.
I know a girl whith the same body type as the one of the girl in the vid...She's a prima ballerina too.I don't think it's the body that matters but the soul, the fire and the passion since you possess these you don't have to be anorexic...looks like "someone" doesn't have them...-.-
People get really defensive about weight.but its not about your weight its about dance and how you move that defines you. She is a great dancer and im sure everyone who commented on this is too. Just drop the fighting.
Pretty ballet dancing and seeing an adult ballet with young ballets.
Yes she is lovely. A dancer's body is her instrument, her voice and it's all about how you use it. She has wonderful technique.
I think she looks very nice and strong en pointe! :) She has a perfect muscle build for ballet. Keep up the good work!
-BallerinaTV
She makes it look so easy
Its nice to see a prima ballerina who is not stick thin :)
u can still dance, someone at my studio started at 16 and was actually the snow queen in nutcracker last year, u just need patience, determenation, and perseverance
her first position turn out is crazy turned out!
her echappes are amazing!

she doesn't have to be thin :) she's showing techniques. and there is no problem with her shoes at all :)
@Simmibimmy Im 14 and I just got my first pair of pointe shoes! It is definatly not too late you just have to work really hard
'Ballet isn't modelling business. It's about dancing...its about how you express yourself and how you use what you have.' Maria Kochetkova, Principal Dancer, San Francisco Ballet
Her technique is very good , bravo to the girl :)
"Ballerina's hide their strength with beauty, but undeniably, it is still there."
@Karen1andKaren2 Thank you so much. After watching all these videos of 11 year olds doing amazing pointe dances, I started feeling bad. :D Good to know!
@LaurenStar111 honestly, lately (at least in america) ive found that the professionals have a more muscular, athletic build
she has a lovely arabesque!
Its nice to see a ballerina thats not stick thing :) I wasnt even thinking about her weight unti I read the comments :)
At least she can go en pointe without her barre going with her -.-
In my dance school we have new barres, theyre SO light, you try doing barre work like going up en pointe snatching and the barre moves half way across the room

very good!! i'm from holland, so i understand the most of the video to!
So many insecure people commenting nothing but negativity...
Just because it's not them on video.
I really wish I could have started ballet at a young age, but now that I am 15 I know I will never be good enough and it makes me feel so sad. /:
did anyone even check the faces on the little ones at 00:08-00:12?? they look so awestruck it's adorable!!
Her muscle tone is INSANE!
ich mag auch balltt aber ich kann noch kein spagat und möchte es unbedingt lernen .Wie kann ich spagat zuhause lernen ?
Im in German 1 this year and understood most of this video :) im so proud! hahah
i luv ur channel name! you really know how to hold a debate, probs b/c us twilight lvrs get so much crap about it! :P lol. team edward???

For everyone complaining that she isn't good; I'd like to see you do better. I know I can't.
@BalletLoveXOX I was just talking about how wide her second is, and how well she's getting over her box.
I think you guys got the wrong idea, the largeness around her but is all muscle.
Beautiful!!!!
good job!
Sadly in the old days it wasn't like this, if you look at the old photos, many famous ballerina's looked almost exactly like this lady, even Vaganova herself, even the great Plisetskaya was not too thin in her younger days. It's amazing how jealous people can get, when they see such an amazing PRIMA BALLERINA. Yes I put in capitals to accentuate the fact that she is good enough to be a ballerina. :D
She is pretty good! Something to work on though: you should go up to sousu with both feet, not just the front.
shes not fat. In my dance school all the other dancers are really thin and i am quite curvy same with her shes not fat its just every other dancers are really thin.
wow thats really young , you are so lucky!! :)
She isn't fat.
@thepaola101 well if you are en pointe, it causes certain problems with bone formation sometimes. many dancers end up having arthritic feet.
She is NOT fat people! That's all just muscle!!!! PLEASE notice the difference!
i think its horrible how people are commenting on how 'big' her body is- just because she's not anorexic doesn't mean there's anything wrong with her!
I agree!
@sofiemarris Its because she gets her own changing room and she is one of the main dancers. The proper term for a prima ballerina would be a Principal dancer
LOVING IT.
i love her turnout!!!!
Not if you understand German: there's a hint of irony. "Prima" in German means "wonderful" or "great". Also note the use of the comma.
how could you people say she's fat or even big? gosh this is what normal people look like
I'm in grade even right now. Sometime near the end of this school year, my ballet teacher will put us on pointe. Am I really late? For someone who isn't an INSANELY talented ballerina, am I still too late getting on pointe, or pretty average? I'll be 13 in about a week.
Do you still dance?
I started at age 6 too! I'm 19 now :)
No one is "too big" to have a real dance carrier. And what's the point of starting your comment with "I don't want to be mean" when your comment was mean.
She's perfect.
u guys, she's not "big" she is healthy, and come on, its fricken muscle.
wow she is like the best Ballerina i have ever seen
You are totally right. I just think that dancers should aim to be healthy, because it enables a person to have a longer and healthier life.
This video is great to practise for my ballett, but Im even leaner. How old is she 15? Then shes one year older than me, i`ll see how good I am in a year! If only i could be like her .
I wasn't even thinking about the girl's weight until I scrolled to the comments. Wtf guys you need to chill.
Does anyone know what kind of pointe shoes she has on?
I think they're bloch pointe shoes because i also have a bloch pair and they look nearly the same :)
I think she wears Grishko
im 18years old and i will start with the ballett but i think im to old? I hope not and must i be thin for ballett?? Because im 160cm high and my waight is 69kg.

Guys, she is bodacious and gorgous, so quit saying she is fat, heavy, or plump. She is neither.
@amdancersforever im not skinny but am a great ballet dancer i could not agree more!!!
jeez guys. she is not fat. she just happens to have an hour-glass figure. i happen to have a very defined waist and large hips, and i'm at a ballet school. i know how it feels to be this shape while everyone else has a very boy-like figure. i thought that i wasn't made for ballet, but it doesn't have to be so. her thighs are big because they are muscly. all that matters is that she is strong and is a lovely dancer.

I like her pas de bourré! and she is really graceful|
This lady is speaking German and I only know a little and yet I still couldn't understand a word
at 7:06 one girl was randomly on demi pointe haha, she has beautiful footwork and extensions but her elbows are kinda droopy which ruins it
Good demonstration, but what to do as guy??

all those people that don't understand a german word but pretend they know exactly what the video is about
her feet are soposed to wable like that because she's moving
@LaurenStar111 haha :D well at least you got that it was eastern-european :D
Hey does anyone know how old she is here?
For me she has a beautiful strong healthy body and overall she is graceful and gifted,, the most beautiful ballerina I´ve ever seen, a true German beauty
gib mal ein: "How to do the splits" oder "Stretching for splits"
I agree with this completely, but I will say that often this is not the case with dancers. Companies want smaller dancers. She is a beatuful dancer and that’s what matters to me.
i wish i knew what the flip they are saying

@KiliniLove the video?? this is german :D
i think her pointe shoes are "cheated" aka she took out the inside shank...does anyone else do that?
im not tryin to be rude.. its hard to stay in shape it really is.. u know im 12 yrs old and its hard for me.. i try to be on a diet but it made me more fat so ... im 195.2 lbs yeah its alot but u know its the hard work that counts .. not the weight .. but this is jus an opinion im just sayin im not starting anythin .. if u don like im sorry
she is NOT FAT! most of it's muscle, jeez
@LaurenStar111 i'm sorry but that isn't russian AT ALL. it's German... how does this sound like russian?
@thepaola101 Correction to Sunshine0shenanigans: ALL professional dancers end up having arthritis!
Cookie TV: you misunderstood completely what I've said. I didn't critizise the girl for her body in generally, I just said, that she has no chance to become a professionel ballet dancer. what language is this?
tuck your thumbs in!
Well, I think she's great :)
I wish i could understand this D:
