I’m thinking of getting this for my son’s 25 birthday, at the moment he is learning ed Sheeran song on his phone, he’s never had a keyboard so i think he will love this keyboard , thanks for the video, really helpful for me as I know nothing about keyboard pianos and there’s so many out there it’s been giving me a headache searching for hours
For those black embossed numbers, white-out works great to make them stand out. I also use it on black rotary knobs everywhere in the house. A thin stripe instantly shows the knob position.
This is a great continuation of the popular Yamaha PSR Arranger series for the target consumer audience for the price. But the new Go:Keys 3/5 is light years ahead, albeit much more in expensive at $150/$300 more respectively. So much top tier onboard songs and styles from the Zen Core sound engine and much more expansion downloadable from the Roland Cloud. The styles forego lots of the classic, standard bread and butter styles for more contemporary and advanced stylings. The connectivity is much better, especially with the 5, plus a mic input with effects/vocorder, more robust speakers, stereo ¼" audio out jacks, and an action halfway stiffer that Roland said way to be closer to an acoustic piano keyboard. It is essentially like I may have stayed before, almost like the FP-E50 without the 88 weighted keys at half the price. That is my next dream keyboard, with the Yamaha CK61 and additional even more professional stage piano. And the RD-08 is a great professional stage piano, slightly more affordable than the RD-88 and upgradable, also using the Supernatural Acoustic and Electric piano sounds and Zen Core sound engine and upgradable expansion from the Roland Cloud.
Also, the mini Jack audio input is still useful for me, for several legacy instruments and gear I have, as well as smartphones with USB dongles, and portable digital audio recorders, etc., in addition to Bluetooth capability. I believe my CT-S1, original Go:Keys, as well as the new Go:Keys and I think even many of the pro keyboards that do not have BT have that minijack audio input.
Just came back from guitar center checking out this keyboard & i love it!!!! 😃
Heading over to Sweetwater right now, Yamaha really is smart with their options in the keyboard market
I enjoyed the video. Wow this psr e keyboard really sounds like a boss. For the price . Finally they added sweet pan flute one of my favorite voices. And that Ethereal Movie style . Yamaha nailed it with this one. 😎😎
Jeremy, another top notch review. I hope your summer mega trip with your family was thoroughly wonderful. All the best.
Just ordered mine today because of your video. Thanks!
Great choice!
I always like your review enjoyed the nice music you play in between
In Italy, prices for the Yamaha PSR E 383 are around 300 euros. At that price, or with just a few bucks more, I'll get the Korg EK 50, and I achieve better sounds etcetera.
Agreed. The EK-50 sounds better. Yamaha is known for the 'thin' studio-like sound, while Korg and Roland are more 'beafy', way more suitable for live performances.
The Korg EK50 is not a good keyboard IMHO. Also Roland has a keyboard that looks exactly the same, same button layout 😞 so it seems it's made by a OEM manufacturer. Well, looking for it it's just a Medeli keyboard. Same awfulness happened with some Kurzweil "entertainment" keyboards.
@@thefumigatorJeremy did numerous videos about the Korg EK 50, and that, is telling you something
you can find it for 250€
@@thefumigator I would recommend Casio CT-X3000/X5000 for the same class and price range. It has better sounds than Yamaha, great synth patches, more versatile editable presets and effects, plus a 16-track sequencer. Almost on par with Yamaha PSR-SX600 in terms of features
18:05 - they may be "obsolete", but to me, there's something to be said for having it built in to the keyboard, and not requiring a separate device, apps, etc. I have enough trouble already with distractions; I want does-everything devices far away from me when I'm learning. I'm sure in ways it's not as good, but... well, we'll see how I like it in practice, as I've placed an order. (Was going to order the E373 a while back, based on your reviews, but took time to get around to it, and now it's been replaced, so...) Anyway, thanks for the info!
I have a Yamaha PSR-225GM i bought on ebay a while ago. Mostly used it for Piano Hero lol, now that i'm taking classes deciding to keep it a little longer while i get the e383 as an upgrade. Thank you.
hey jeremy, such great review of the psr e383! but in my country this thing costs around $300, and i did some research and found that these products are in the same price range: psr e383 ($300), casio ctx800 ($270), roland ex30 ($330), casio ctx3000 ($320) and casio cts1 ($250). which one should i buy for this price range? thanks in advance!
Hey Jeremy, great video as always. Could you make a review of the new Roland GO:Keys 3 and 5? I would like to know what do you think about these arranger keyboards. Thanks!
Next video
Casio CT-S300 or Yamaha PSR-F52 ? I’m beginner. I want the start play keyboard.
Is the Grand Piano on the 383 worse than the 373... I will mostly only use the Grand piano and im not sure if it was downgraded on the 383? I was thinking of getting the PSR E320 but im not sure if I should get the PSR E310 instead, would the 310 be the better choice or do the new features on the 320 outweight the better sound of the 310? @JeremySee
No. The 383 has the same piano voices as the 373 plus sounds from E473 and better drum voices.
Hi, thanks for a great reveiew! I am wondering which is the keyboard which you mention that has similar specs to PSRE383, but also supports wireless connection?
I'm curious how this keyboard compares head to head against the Casio CTS-500.
Different class. The CT-S500 competes with PSR-E473
Hi Jeremy, I recently bought this keyboard for my daughter and see that buttons surface and screen are anti-glare, I'm not sure if this is a protective film from factory or it's built in this way. May you confirm if yours is the same? Thanks!
It feels so much like the e373 was released yesterday
I have the PSRE463. What I have noticed is that when it comes to midi capabilities, The PSRE373, PSRE473, and this PSRE383 have two more midi CC capabilities that the PSRE463 does not have. And those new capabilities are CC82 for General purpose toggle button 3, and CC83 for General Purpose Toggle Button 4 respectively. Now I would imagine that one of those CC Control Change events will toggle the articulation mode on or off. Very useful for the super articulation lite voices. But I am not sure what the other CC event does.
Which one would be the best between E383 and E473? There's only a 35 dollar difference in our country!
Hello, at 2:02' I saw that you changed the octaves, how did you do that? Can you map a button for this?
yamaha p-225 vs roland fp 30x?
i am playing a casio cheap keyboard for 2 years and now i want to upgrade my piano i love playing chopin liszt Rachmaninoff for a professional classical musician which would be better choice under 1000$
Hi.. im new beginner. But I would like to learn sequence. What keyboard would you recommend
High there Jer. brthr. Can you tell me how many of my own sounds can i register in it, & how many layers can i include both upr. & lwr. ??,, Thanks a bunch, 🕊️.
Jeremy: So which one is the "one-step-up" keyboard that has the increased preset register, bluetooth, wireless midi, etc? It's not obvious where to look in your description or that first comment from you.
Hey Jeremy please i am a little confused on whether to get an arranger keyboard or a music workstation keyboard. I don't like digital pianos because of the limited sounds on them. I love the work you do and I'm certainly sure to get the best answer from you. Si please could you tell me the pros and cons of each and also what I'm missing out if i get any of these and please some recommendations of under US$1200 ❤❤🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Jeremy posted this a while back. He covers the differences between all of the keyboard options:
ua-cam.com/video/BwJulJvCBRo/v-deo.html
@@ShellyAnderson0624 Thanks
Can we download the added rythms and input into the e373? Also i don't see much difference between e383 and e373.
Are there any difference between the sound output of PSR-E373 and PSR-E383?
Yes pls someone answer this. Difference between 373 and 383.
It is amazing what can be put "under the hood" on these entry level keyboards today! - they easily beat up some high level boards from just a few y back! - this board sounds amazingly good! - thnx for this demo, Levi in Sweden
Amazing? That's an exaggeration....
Enjoy all of your videos. My problem is I need something that includes MIDI OUT.
thank you for the amazing video Mr. Jeremy, what is the best between these 3 key boards psr-E383 or psr-E373 or psr E-473? and could you please list them from best to worst.
I personally suggest e473 , i personally have a e373 and there's no huge difference between e373 and e383
@@nikhilna1312 thank you very much 🙏
No. Wait for 483.
Hi, I’m a lounge classic piano player and I’ve been doing my own arrangements in GM format… I’ve been using for several years my Vintage Korg IS40 that sounds pretty good by the way, I play along with the midi files… and it’s really good…. I’m in the market for the best replacement for the IS40, I just bought the i3 but I’m really disappointed with the sounds quality… comparing with the old one, it’s pretty awful, very near of toy quality…
So my quest is still on.. can your advise me some good keyboard options…
Best regards
what would be the casio equivalent of this as this one isn't available in my country?
Anyone know the name of the piece he plays at 3:50? Is it by Satie?
Please compare it with Casio ct-s1
When he reviewed ct series he noted that this yamaha model has better sounds
in my place, Yamaha PSR I400 is priced slightly less than this (383) , which is a better buy ?
Hey Jeremy!
In Brazil the PSR-E473 is just a little more expensive, between the 2 keyboards, which one would you get to start?
Wait for the E483 instead.
@@amusic9825 Do you have any forecast for the release of the e483? Thanks.
Best keyboard action - of any type - I've ever played: My (ancient) Korg 61-key 01/W FD. They've never improved on that one - it even beats the action of my Korg 73-key Nautilus. Worst action (by far) I've ever played: My Studiologic 73-key controller. They really missed the boat on that one - very heavy and stiff. Avoid that one completely. A shame, because otherwise, it's a fine controller.
Kids just starting out to see if they'll be interested long-term should opt (depending on the action - it should be sufficiently light) for something like the above - not a 73/76 key or certainly not an 88-key behemoth. NO ONE - except the most high-end professional pianist - needs 88 keys. And that includes any church pianist out there.
This Yamaha (with its built-in speakers) seems to check all the boxes for someone just starting out, and is certainly worth checking out further. But parents, leave the expensive models (such as the Nord) in the music store, or you could wind up with a large paper weight that your child has lost interest in. All the Steinways in the world aren't going to turn your child into the next Yuja Wang - that requires a huge amount of dedication and practice.
Thanks for that..well said.. btw have you by any chance tried out the Casio CTS500? I wonder how good the action is.
Can you do PSR E373 vs E483. Common and differences 🙏
I have a e373 and watching this , there's not much of a difference, only a few improvements
Sir please could you compare this keyboard to the psr E373
Yes!!! I also want to see this . No one covers this video
Casio MA-100 is a good keyboard?
Make a video of the bequtiful voices please. Thanks. 🥰
Cant decide between the: PSR E383 (290€) vs. PSR EW (390€) vs. Roland GO Keys 3 (390€).
Which should I pick as an absolute beginner who wants to start Keys. Anyone got an advice? Thanks
Hi Jeremy thanks for the video, this is similarly priced here in the UAE as the E373, just want to know if this is better than the Casio Ctx700 /800 when compared ......
Casio is like Android and Yamaha is like Apple , Casio has much features whereas Yamaha provides less features but with more quality
how does the cts400 compare to this keyboard .
very terrible. cts-400 isn't suitable for anyone anymore
In India the price of E383 and E473 is quite close. Can you please recommend which one might be better E383 vs E473?
E473 or E383?
I am gonna buy but in consider between NPK NUX 20 and Alesis prestige artist, could you please tell me which one is better
good video! Yamaha is still clinging to the XG sounds i see, but this is a nice keyboard. Thanks for making this video!
I find USB B more sturdy than Usb C for playing live with midi. USB C is like 3.5mm jack, USB B is way more stable, like 6.3mm jack.
Psr e383 vs Ct s400 what's better ?
Is this sounds better than Psr e373 ?
Anyone please reply?
I bought my first instrument: keyboard and it is Casio ct-x700, I will get my shipping on monday. How to start learning easy and effectiv ?
@2:32 does anyone know the the name of that song? It has been haunting me for years.
Wave - Carlos Jobim
Would like to know about the 283. It seems to be 5 bucks cheaper than 273 and cost about half of the 383 at least here but it also seems to have gone down to 32 polyphonies maybe other cut backs as well?
Oh it's so bad.
@@FranklinLee-t3kis it? I was looking for a review, but it looks like I am not going anywhere
Hello jeremy I speak to you from Bolivia, could you help me to make a decision, in my country the wk6600 keyboard has a price of 275 dollars, and the wk7600 has a price of 315 dollars, which of the two keyboards would you recommend me?
I have already used both of them, and I prefer WK 6700. It has the same features with CTK 7000/7200.
As always, an excellent review. 👍🏻
Mr jeremy see is there any budget digital piano with microphone input
As AY keyboard player, I too prefer more BUT-UHNS not less. Thanks for THEE review Jeremy. Have AY wonderful weekend!
What do you think about the Roland go:key compared to this Yamaha?
The Go Keys, especially the 3 and 5, are significantly better but cost quite a bit more.
The original Go Keys might be more affordable, but the membrane buttons don't appeal to me.
@@danieldougan269 You're right. But in the meantime I have an offer to buy an e463 at the same price. Tough choice - what do you think, if I may ask?
In general, how quick would an amateur need to replace PSR-E383?
I'm a total amateur planning to self study but I have a 9-5 job. I believe I could use headphones for this so I guess I would be able to practice at least 1-2 hours daily at night.
I hope you could help give some insight. One of the biggest concerns of beginners is how quick they would need to replace their "beginner" instruments. Thank you 😊
Probably years. This is a really good value range
1-2 years then you can sell it. Go for weighted 76 or 88 key for your new keyboard if you want to play classical or you just want more keys.
It can use with volume pedal sir?
When playing with style, is it possible to mute certain instruments? For example: remove guitar or bass? On the Yamaha E473, this is possible. thanks
Only on E473 and up
My yamaha e373 . 1key has no sound how to fix that sir jeremy
Remove screws, open the keyboard. Remove cabling to the keys; unscrew keys and take them out. Take an oscilloscope, attach to contacts. Measure effect of pressing the broken key. Look for reasons: Mechanical failure? Contact no longer pressure sensitive? Loose cabling? After having identified the cause, fix it. Put everything together again. Done.
Hi Jeremy ich finde Yamaha einfach nur genial besonders das piaggero np12

Can i get custom samples from the internet on this thing?
Hi Jeremy, what’s the name of that gentle song you always play in all your videos. I need the name so I can learn it. It’s the 5th song you played in the intro on this feature PSR E383 video. I love that song too much but I don’t know the name. Thanks 🙏

Im Confused bwtween Kawai ES120 and Roland F30x. Which one should i pick? And is there any Better Digital piano under $1000? Please lmk
If you can’t evaluate the differences between two options, effectively the differences don’t matter.
No one can advise you what you should you get if you don’t provide information on how you intend to use the device. Some would buy the Roland while others would buy the Kawai. For them, the choice made sense.
So it boils down to your preference and needs. I’d advise you to play both if possible and form your own opinions based upon a hands on experience.
You should check out the FP-e50 as well,
Has a few
More options you might like.
Perfect timing I was thinking of buying the E273 model before this
I have psr e443 ,, is it worth to upgrade to this e383 ? Or wait for e483 , since e383 features are very similar to e443 ?
You need to stretch and get an SX600.
Can you review electone ?? please
Very informative and enjoyable review
Great keyboard, but it´s 400usd here, for a little more i surely can get more advanced model, that´s a sad part of local pricing, taxes, etc, great video
Drums have drastically improved. But it is sad to hear that a lot of sounds are still annoyingly terrible. Yamaha should start including more Tyros (1 to 3) samples in the upcoming E483.
Tyros samples are old as dust too.
@@matthewgaines10 Yeah, but for a PSRE, it is reasonable.
Hey, @JeremySee have you seen the Roland Go:Keys 3/5???
You're in luck! Next video
The Yamaha PSR-E383 is BY FAR the best beginner keyboard for under $200. I also saw the new Yamaha PSR-E283, but I don’t know why Yamaha isn’t learning from their mistake on the PSR-E273 by making it non-touch sensitive, which is why I say PSR-E283 is just so trash! The PSR-E383 however, is such a huge improvement from the PSR-E373 for the same price, and with the Casio CT-X700 unable to keep up, the Yamaha PSR-E383 is going to end up so popular, Casio will have to work hard to stay in the game.
Hi Jeremy, it still has the screws at the bottom to mount the Yamaha L2C keyboard stander? (the psr 373 does). It is a unique type of keyboard stander which is not often discussed.
Hi Jeremy I'm from Pakistan and Your channel is the best. Today, off topic, there is a question. When the keys of a keyboard stop ringing, what do you think is the best solution? Because you are a senior keyboard player. There is no reliable video on the internet.
Hi can someone tell me if the Alesis prestige and prestige artist 88-key digital piano is still being sold or not?
so this is basically the e373 but better right?
The recording sounds pretty awesome, 😊 are you plugged in directly for the recording? I've got the Yamaha 463
Yamaha e383 or e473? Better? Thanks.
383 for beginner, just ordered one.
as a XG-lite machine an from what i can hear on the video the samples sound a lot like the DB50XG with 48-note polyphony but with the power of the SW1000XG but nowhere near a XG-level 3 MU2000EX or tyros 5, but I've seen people rock out shows on more expensive not even great sounding keyboards and this is far from a bad pick up especially for 200$ the alesis II is the same price and sounds like a cheap Casio
Nice video bro!
Thank god, it kinda sounds like the sounds on the big Tyros 4! I'm excited at the next PSR-E483 keyboard!!
Yeah, its kinda awesome that Yamaha has improved the drums drastically. But if they can do that, they may also improve the other terrible voices like brush kits, guitars and bass, woodwinds and synths and more. I hope in E483 they will take it to the next level. Roland is using Fantom voices for their Go Keys. Yamaha should add more Tyros sounds in E483. Also A to D style controls like the DGX670. And a style mixer.
You have so many dream keyboards. 😀
Hello, I have the psr e363, I only play grand piano, do you think I have to change to a psr e383 or it's similar? Thanks.
Nope
